We were visiting from Houston to get away from the heat and several locals recommend the steaks. We did not have a reservation but was able to have drinks in the bar and was offered dinner at the table which was perfect for us. The bartender on 07/28/17 was extremely kind and made me the best Cosmopolitan that I have had in years. Three of us had steak but they were out of baked potatoes (?). Our seven year inhaled his steak and half of his great grandmothers. I had the wedge salad plus crab cakes and they were very well prepared. I would definitely recommend this location BUT make a reservation.
I chose The Ranchers last night for my birthday dinner. Although they were out of crab legs the lobster was delicious! My husband's prime rib was melt in your mouth tender! Our server was excellent and the creme brulee for dessert was perfect! Thank you all for a wonderful, birthday evening!
We got in to this beautiful restaurant just by chance and it was delicious! Chocolate Strawberry Martini's to start with... The best steak and salmon dinners then Avocado Cheesecake! It was all amazing and the server's were great. Thank you for squeezing us in on such a busy night... Can't wait to return. :)

Amazing service, staff was very kind and took our group in last minute giving us the space we needed for our organizations presentation. Food was good, very satisfied!
I had lobster, Jack had rib eye steak and we shared. Creme Brule for dessert. It was all great! We will be back!

Excellent servicely and food; staff is friendly and helpful with menu options and daily special. Highly recommend food is well prepared and plentiful. Try the Tobacco Onion Rings for an appetizer, most places would call them Onion Strings or Spirals and they are so flavorful that you don't need any type of dipping sauce. We didn't have reservations, but they were very accommodating when we arrived. Would recommend reservations if your planning on going for dinner.
Amazing. Polite, friendly, attentive wait staff. The steak was made perfectly and my fiancée had a chicken dish with a rosemary sauce that was a home run. Definitely recommend.
Our family went here for a birthday dinner for my spouse. They were very accommodating with our 3 year old nephew. The prime rib was delicious as was the chicken breast dinner. The food was fresh and well prepared. The French onion soup was a little more bread and cheese than soup, but it was delicious. The fresh yeast rolls were good. The salad was fresh. Our nephew's kids menu Mac and cheese was good but he didn't like the bread crumb and garlic crust (most kids wouldn't). The coconut shrimp was a little too sweet. Overall a great experience for the price. We will definitely eat here again the next time we visit Ruidoso.
This was one of the best ribeye steaks I've ever had! I couldn't eat all of it and brought leftovers home. They were just as good the next day. You are paying for an excellent meal, for delicious food, and an array of local beer and wines. Great place!
Wonderful food. We had the shrimp and the prime rib. Both were beyond perfect. We had doubts about the service based on other reviews, but our server, Fabien, was incredibly nice, attentive, and knowledgable. All the salad dressings are made in house, according to the server and they're delicious. I'd highly recommend. Our experience was wonderful. It's unfortunate that others left bad reviews.
The food, drinks and service was excellent. Had the special of the day - green chile fettuccine with shaved prime rib - and it was so good I would have licked the bowl if my wife wasn't looking. Chief came to the table to check on our food and service. Chocolate cake and carrot cake so big we had to bring half of them home. Highly recommend.
Unique Drinks, Delightful Food. Set in a somewhat nondescript building, The Ranchers boasts delicious food and drinks. Our waitress was attentive and helpful when we asked about the menu, and our food came out within an appropriate amount of time. Everything on the menu sounded good, but the three of us ended up getting the same thing: french dip sandwich, salad, and a type of green chili soup (I don't remember what it was called) with tortilla strips on top. The food was tasty and we got a drink with jalapeno tequila and salt and pepper rimming the martini glass - a very unique drink. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and would go again.

Good food, nice atmosphere, great service. In from out of town to celebrate our anniversary. Shared the 8oz filet, which was cooked perfectly, asparagus, and smashed red potatoes. Everything was served quickly and was still hot. We had reservations (highly recommended on a Saturday night) and were seated right away. The hostess was very nice and accommodating and, our server, Susie, was very attentive, friendly and personable. Will definitely go here again.
This place was wonderful! Don't let the outside fool you. Inside is very nice and more upscale then we had anticipated. The French onion soup was probably the best I've ever had. The crab cakes were just as delicious! Great service also. Must try if ever visiting Riudoso, we were pleasantly surprised!
The food here is amazing! It was our last dinner in Ruidoso and I can't wait to come back to eat here. The onion strings were so good, our filet was cooked perfectly and was so tender and velvety, and the deserts, OH MY! We split a huge chocolate cake and creme brûlée. They were mouthwatering delicious. You will definitely need a to go box for the cake! The dress is anywhere from casual to dressy casual, has a great atmosphere, and excellent staff. This is a must visit when in Ruidoso!
Nice restaurant with friendly waitstaff. The sirloin was good just a little tough. Sides, salad and rolls were all good. The chocolate cake was yummy! We had 4 people split it and still some left over!

My Prime Rib was very good and my wife's filet was ok. Bread came out stale but we didn't go there for bread. Overall it was very good! We will go back.
Steak was great. Cooked right, tender and very good meat. Rolls and salad were both good. Service was excellent. Little pricey, but it is Ruidoso!

Great addition to Ruidoso. I have visited this place several times and had a different item each time. I have to say that the Prime Rib is the best I have had in years! Maybe the best ever. Unlike Cattle Baron, the rib is cooked perfectly. Presentation is great, service is great and the price isn't bad for this type of restaurant. Oh, probably the best hamburger ever, albeit kind of expensive. But you know, not really all that bad. Try it!!!

Prime Chow. I was extremely disappointed to see Santino's vanish, but there's consolation that its successor is so successful. It also maintains Santino's nifty little bar, although without the Magellan gin that was my traditional martini base.
The main thing to know about Ranchers is that they serve a very, very good steak. That's pretty important for a steakhouse. My NY strip was buttery, just salty enough, and cooked to a tee. Rarely have I had a better steak. And while it may seem odd to heap praise upon a humble baked spud, the potato that accompanied my steak was special. It was cooked in such a way that the entire potato flaked easily away from the skin, but it was not remotely dry or tough.
Our waitress was a real sweetheart, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and overall experience. My only suggestion would be to include a few pasta dishes on the menu. Pasta dishes are traditional in many steakhouses, and with Santino's no longer in business, Ruidoso needs all the pasta options it can get.

Great Visit, Delicious Food, Very Attentive Staff. This review is coming from someone who has lived In Minneapolis, St. Louis, Atlanta, Albuquerque and, not to mention, Europe for 5 years. I've lived in Ruidoso for 3 years. All that is to say is that I understand what excellent cuisine is, and I also know that there can be limits to such expectations when living in a small town in the middle of a desert.
As such, I had a great experience at the Ranchers. Johnny was our server and he was very attentive without seeming to hover. Dallas, the manager/chef, was also around a few times to see how my husband and I were faring. We were out whooping it up for my birthday, so we ate quite a bit and racked up a quite the bill, but I thought it was worth it and would do it again. The crab cakes were excellent (much better than the ones I have had at other places in town). The steak was the same or better quality than what we get hacked off the cow at the local butcher. The seafood is about what one would expect, not living on the Eastern seaboard, but you dunk it in butter any way, so who cares? In response to previous reviews, I took the suggestion of having the house dressing, and thought it delicious. The desserts were also really satisfying -- the chocolate cake was 3x as big as what I had expected.
I am just sad we forgot our leftover boxes on the table when we left. ( I guess my only complaint is that no one sprinted after the car barefoot in 40 degree darkness to return them to us.)
