Pangaea Cafe is not a hidden gem, it's a well know diamond. I had the best of best burgers yesterday (11/12/16). Was only going there to say hello to Rob, who wasn't there, and along with a associate we decided to get a bite. The Pangaea Burger was nothing to sneeze at...I finished every last bite. If you are a burger person and have not tried it, I, Chef Richard Pannell, highly recommend it.
Love this little neighborhood gem. The food is top notch, and of course the BEST burger in Sacramento. Have tried the Brat, its very tasty. The chicken wings are spicy and crispy and on point. I have never been much of a beer drinker but Pangaea has me changing my ways. The menu is exciting and the people are great...would love to keep this place a secret, my own little bit of paradise but i'm afraid the cats out of the bag now
As if the fantastic beer selection wasn't enough the food is amazeballs! And I the sour tap list. Can't wait to try brunch. Will definitely be back!!
Great tap list and tasty food. I recommend the fried chicken sandwich and the burger
This is my new FAVORITE place to eat and drink while I'm in Sacramento. The Chicken was so moist and the Brussel sprouts which I would NEVER eat were so good I ate them all. The service and employees are SO nice and accommodating, the beer selection is probably the best I've ever seen. If you get a chance go check this place out!
Food was great and the beer selection was awesome! Even better was the customer service! Shout out to Anders for never missing a beat, his service was on point!
What a wonderful little local place! Good beer selection and pleasant servers. Although we did not eat, the food looked and smelled delicious. We will definitely come back for food and, if course, beer.
Burgers are the best!! Awesome mac n cheese! Beer was excellent except didnt like it served in a small wine glass, we came in for a beer not a fancy small glass, give me a BEER!!!!
Best burger yet in the Sacramento area. Great friendly staff. Definitely will be returning. Also, off the chain Caesar salad. One of the best I've had. It is definitely enough for 2 to share.
We went to dinner for my daughter's birthday. I took a chance and tried the grilled salmon BLT and it was amazing! The salmon was perfectly cooked, the bacon crispy, the avocado and tomato full of flavor. My new favorite!
Killer, killer Brunch! All the food here is amazing and the beer selection is off the hook! Really wish that they would open another location in River Park where I live.
Oh, wow... What a great evening with an absolutely delicious burger and some incredible beers! We can't wait to come back for more!!!
Nice place to chill on a nice summer night. Staffs are friendly and food is delicious. I love their Chile Guave Stem (It's spicy!!) And their beer pretzel was soft and amazing, must try!
They have indoor and outdoor seating.
Parking is a bit hard to find - street parking only.
The location was good. They have indoor and outdoor dining ❤️. Staff is friendly. Food is good. Abundance of beers on tap. Pet friendly. Bathrooms are semi clean. Parking is as expected for the location ❤️❤️❤️. The seating is first come first serve ❤️❤️❤️.
We appreciated the detail to the drinks history and open space outside
So, here I am having a nice lunch with a beer called "Hell Wayfinder", right? But, I really want to recommend the veggie combo sandwich because it's very tasty. The Pangaea Burger 🍔 is famous in this neighborhood, and I like that too, but the veggie combo sandwich I just had is a new item, and I think most people would like it.
Great place to have 8 people site comfortably at their bigger table. Great cider if you’re a cider person. On tap or bottles. The burger and wings were very good. The servers are friendly and the place is clean. Family friendly.
Excellent choices, friendly and welcoming beer tender, and clean inside/outside covered patio.
I ended up with a Belgian 10% Quad from Watou, delivered by the Belgian representative of Saint Bernardus. Would gladly come in the future!
Love this place. The food was great...I loved the pretzel! The chicken sandwich was out of this world. There are pickled cucumbers that are spicy and so delicious.
I had several great beers and I really thought the staff were super helpful and nice.
I will be back!
Out of all the amazing restaurants/brewpubs in the Sacramento area, "Pangaea Bier Cafe" has always been consistently good ever since they opened at this very popular Curtis Park hotspot dating back to 2008. And in that stretch of time, they have had a cult following of fans that rave about their "Pangaea Burger" being the #1 burger in all of Sacramento. But they're so much more than that as they carry a full-on menu including sandwiches, nachos, wings, tacos, and salads. And of course lots of local brews on tap, wine, and even coffee.
Located directly on Franklin Blvd. and adjacent to 3rd Ave. in the Curtis Park neighborhood of Sacramento, this place is directly across the street from the iconic "Gunther's Ice Cream" parlor. Parking can be tricky but since you're more or less surrounded by lots of residential areas, you shouldn't have too much of a problem finding a spot to park. Maybe on a warm summer night where crowds in the dozens flock to ice cream could be a bit of an issue.
Even though I've been here several times in the past, my most recent visit was on the afternoon of Sunday 10/17/2021 at around 2:30pm. Since the weather was still warm enough to dine outside, my friend and I decided to enjoy lunch on their sizable outdoor patio. The inside itself does offer ample seating as well as a small stage area when they offer live music. Do keep in mind that they are NOT open for business on Monday and Tuesday just in case you're wondering.
As far as my lunch, I ended up going with their "Sunday Special" which was their "BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich" and a beer for the amazing low price of only $11.99 + tax. I paired this sandwich up with an iced cold "Cosmic Rays Modern Times IPA" beer and an ice water. My friend ordered their "Buffalo Hot Wings" with sides of Blue Cheese & Ranch sauce. We received a number, sat outside, and both our meals arrived within 10 minutes.
Overall, my pulled pork sandwich was hearty, messy, and delicious. The heaping portion of coleslaw made it bigger than it actually was while the crisp pickles gave it a nice balance. The pork was seasoned to perfection while the sauce had that hint of sweet and spice packed into one. I did try one of my friends hot wings and these too had the perfect coating of sauce with a generous amount of meat on the wing itself. Oh, and my beer was excellent as Cosmic Rays always puts out a great tasting IPA.
All in all, "Pangaea Bier Cafe" is an excellent restaurant/brewpub/coffee shop/live music venue packed into one. It is prime location in the heart of Sacramento with a nice diverse crowd here. When you factor in the location, eclectic ambiance, ideal indoor/outdoor seating, food portions & quality, top notch customer service, and decent prices, this place is 5-star worthy.
No complaints about this very relaxed beer and wine pub. Great local neighborhood vibe in a residential area. Outdoor seating is great for people watching, right across the street from the crowds at Gunther's ice cream. If it's too hot or too cold outside, inside seating is comfortable, casual and cozy. Good rotating beer selection from local vendors.
After a long day running around in a Saturday and wait times that were crazy long, this was a great accidental stop! Gunther's hand made ice cream is across the street. Food was hot, seasoned well had lots of flavor. Portions were great. Service at the counter was quick and personable. The fall salad was delicious if you are a fan of vinaigrettes. This is the pulled pork one with fries with the slaw on the side, one with potato salad - salad was almost as big as the burger. Table near us had nachos and they looked and smelled amazing.
When I first moved to Sacramento,I think I came here seven days in a row. The best sour beers and tap selection of any bier bar that I’ve ever been to. I believe it when they say this is one of the top 10 beer destinations in the world. Plus they won the Sacramento burger battle, bringing home the peoples choice belt and the judges choice belt. Anders, Austin, Reed and Mike (good luck at the new job Mikey) are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I love talking beer with them and I visit them at least three times a week. I am a Pangaea Bier Cafe patron for life.
