This review is long overdue, as I have been dining here for almost 5 years and have loved every single bite, every time! I've tried most of the Indian restaurants in town and I always return here for the best. Their seasonings and spices are amazing, and will transport your taste buds to exotic foreign locales. Take your time to explore the menu, and ask for advice if it's new to you (Indian food was all new to me, and now it's my favorite!). Tikka Masala is always a perfect starter dish, the naan bread is always great, and rice too. The owner was kind and generous enough to donate food for the Midtown Neighborhood Association's annual block party this year, and it was a big hit. This place is always voted Best Indian Food in many yearly polls, and it's easy to see why.

Our dinner party had a wonderful experience at Bombay Bar & Grill. It was my first visit but will not be my last. The decor is pleasing and comfortable. Our server, Arianna, was professional, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food selection is great and tastes delicious!! I definitely recommend checking out Bombay Bar & Grill.

A great restaurant with a friendly staff! My only criticism would be there was no onion Bhaji......I had the chicken Vindaloo and garlic Naan with saffron rice.....all flavors were spot on.

Great food and great services! I don't know Indian food but when you bring someone that does and they give their two thumbs up, then you know you found a good place.

Compare to other similar Indian restaurants around Sacramento, this is one of the better spots. Total spent without tip: $32 I got the samosas to start with. They were delicious…fried golden brown and not over cooked. The spice level was nice and packed a nice punch. The sauces (chutney and mint) only made them even more delicious. For entree I got the chicken tikka (spice level medium) with a side of basmati rice and garlic naan. Although the food was good, I hoped for a bit more heat and spices from the chicken. I dare say that this was more on the lower side of the heat spectrum. As far as spice blend goes, it was okay. But I may be bias since I make my own from time to time and that packs more heat. If you’re looking for heat you may opt for the high spice option. The naan was okay as well. I wish they had actual garlic chunks rubbed into the naan like other places. I would recommend just plain naan since I didn’t get much of any garlic flavoring. The ambiance of the actual restaurant was nice. They had the ac going but it wasn’t too cold. The background music was also very pleasant and not blasting. The decor is tasteful without being gaudy. I enjoyed my visit to Bombay and look forward to eating here again. Definitely recommend. Also, my server was very friendly and east on the eyes.

Food is very good, staff and service was also very good. Sat outside, they let us have our pup out on the patio so that was also nice. The combo appetizer is really nice. The menu is slightly deceiving since they fine print the extra 7$ to get the rice and sides with your main. I didn't much like that, but after I understood the menu it was fine. The portions here are really nice. Split an app and a main (with the sides) which comes out to roughly 32$ before tax and it was more than enough for 2 people. The mains portions are very large. The samosa (both of their varieties) are very good. The mint chutney is delicious, and fried vegetables are also very good. Spice level (at medium) was very comfortable and pleasant. The butter chicken was traditional style and very good. All in all, above average. A generally good Indian restaurant. If you're just looks for home cooked style food then this is gonna be a 5 for you. If you're a big restaurant consumer like myself looking for a unique experiences it will just be a 4 but great nevertheless. We will be back. As an aside, I would avoid their "on tap" beers. Flavors were off a little from what you get in the bottle quality.

Best taste for price in Sacramento!! I have been looking for great Indian food and it is so hard to come by at this price. Bombay grill does not disappoint. I have feel safe trying new dishes because they are always well made. Hats off to the chef! .I usually pick up and service is always friendly. The one time I set our waiter was not very attentive but I could tell others were and they helped me no problem. The decor is also very nice and the drinks… delicious!

Since moving to Sacramento I've eaten at a few Indian food restaurants, Bombay Bar and Grill is hands down the best I've tried. It's possibly the best food I've tried in Sacramento, period. Bombay is not afraid of flavor, and knows how to appropriately season their food. I really cannot recommend this place enough, and I can't wait to go back and try more off their menu. We knew we were in for an amazing meal when our appetizer arrived.. We started with the appetizer sampler which came with two different kinds of samosas and another item I don't remember the name of.... it was delicious. I ordered the Dal soup (amazing), lamn kabob and Kitchen Special, which was a rack of lamb with a spinach sauce.... the flavor in the dishes was outstanding. I can't praise this place enough, just make sure you visit this place if you're in Sacramento, you'll thank me.

Great food and great service. This is an upscale but not too expensive restaurant. The staff cares about the food and the service. With a party of 8 we got 6 different dishes and everyone was very happy. They actually give you the spice when you ask for it, and the flavor of everything was incredible. Clear your sinuses, cure what ails you, come in and enjoy a classy, tasty meal, and you’ll end up with more food than you paid for. Very happy with this experience.

Lunch was great :) even though hubby was served chicken Tikka marsala instead of the curry he ordered - he really enjoyed it. I had lamb and it was tender and delicious. I wouldn't say the portions are gigantic as others have though.

Coming from the Bay Area, we have our fair share of Indian cuisine, and I found myself craving some today when I found Bombay Bar & Grill. Located in Midtown, this restaurant boasts a fair variety of Indian dishes, including my personal favorite chicken tikki masala. After selecting your dish, you'll be asked to choose a spice level- mild, medium, or hot. The majority of their dishes come with basmati rice; however, if you want any naan or other sides those will come with an extra charge. I walked in to order around noontime (and you guessed it- I order their chicken tikki masala, mild), and after ordering they informed me that my food would be ready in 15 minutes- not bad. I found the food very flavorful and not overly spicy, which is a plus for me. As a side note, the portions are quite large! After finishing the rice my dish came with, I had almost half of the curry left over (woohoo leftovers). I'm also a huge fan of paneer so I also decided to sample their paneer pakoras. Personally, I've never tried paneer in this sort of preparation, but I really enjoyed it! It'll definitely be one of my go-to appetizers now! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and would definitely recommend this place to anyone seeking some Indian food in the Midtown area!

This is a cute little Indian place in downtown Sacramento. There are street parking at meters. Easy walk. Greater was very friendly and fast to seat us. The menus were pretty large and they had a decently sized vegan option section. They took our order quickly and brought water for everyone. They were accommodating with requests like lemon for the water. The napkins plates and utensils were very nice. Nothing plastic or throw away all of it was metal ceramic or cloth. The place seemed clean and well put together and decorated. The only part that was unfortunate was the items that I ordered were vegan but they brought them and they had ghee on top of the dahl So I had to send it back and have it remade. When that happens you always question whether they just sort of scooped some stuff out and pretended they made it over or not. Never sure. Anyway they brought me a new dish and the roti was good but did have quite a bit of oil on it. I'm sure that if I had known that ahead of time I could have asked them to not do that. They brought the bill quickly didn't have a waiter coming over every 2 seconds to bother us so that was nice. And the checkout process was quick and easy.

Fantastic food, varied from the traditional American Indian offerings. Love the decor, clean restrooms, great service - what more could you ask for in a restaurant? Btw - order their mango lassi. It’s the best I’ve had in the states so far!

Food was great and fresh, made to order. Ala carte menu only but they do have lunch specials available. Price was more than other options availble but worth the cost in my opinion. Would dine again.

I came here with my niece for lunch...omg the food is so good..wow They have indoor and outdoor seating. The waitress was so nice and helpful. She brought us water right away..which I really appreciated since it was over 100 outside. We browsed the menu and I had a few questions...the waitress was so patient and wonderful... We ordered garlic naan 2.95 for 2 large pieces...chicken Tikka Masala from the lunch menu it was 10.95 and chicken makhani for 12.95 which included a large bowl of basmati rice. The garlic naan was so fresh and soft...just the smell of garlic had my mouth watering...it was just sensational... The Tikka masala was spicy and we got the mild. It had so much flavor and couple that with the naan...wow I wanted to order something different..well that's what I thought when I ordered the chicken makhani...the waitress after I started eating it said that was the Indian name for butter chicken...I was laughing so hard...I thought I was being fancy...lol The flavor of that butter chicken was absolutely wonderful...it was the best butter chicken I have ever eaten...I was eating my bites so slow because I just wanted to keep it in my mouth...it was so good. If your looking for great Indian food...this place is awesome...the staff is so friendly...and the place is clean. I highly recommend this place for sure.

This place is absolutely delicious. We’ve been coming here for years. We get the chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, naan, and rice and it’s really good. The texture of the chicken is perfect, the flavors, and the details. The service is also good 😊 10/10
