It’s true!! After the pandemic most bars are either understaffed and inattentive, and if you get a friendly smile and small talk you’re quite lucky. It’s standard now to be patient and just enjoy that you’re getting a drink with the longer wait time.
I’ve been coming here for years to see all types of bands and solo artists perform. Some are super cool that they let you take pictures with them afterwards. It’s definitely a cool spot more on the intimate crowd since the space is limited but overall a cool vibe. There are also multiple bars on the grid where you can preparty before the show. You’re welcome 😉
I didn't eat anything while I was here, as I only went to attend a concert. The concert area is very small, but the acoustics were amazing. There is no seating in the performance area, so be prepared to be standing for however many hours. Also, be warned, it gets VERY hot in the performance area. They had a couple industrial fans going in the merch sales area , but it didn't help much unless you were close to them.

Cool place. Live music venue with a kitchen, a full bar and a decent selection of beers on tap. The place was clean and well maintained. Good service and the atmosphere was dimly lit and cozy. I dropped off my child and a friend out front for a live music show they'd be attending. I returned a couple hours later, grabbed a hazy little thing and sat and waited in a booth for the live show to end. Great little spot and easy to find on J St.
Review is for the venue:
Always a great time at Goldfields. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and they never disappoint. They have a great variety of acts on deck, and there’s always something fun going down. The sound is great and you can see the stage well from the front and back.
The merch section is always easily accessible, and they have some of the cleanest bathrooms I’ve been to across the country. (The stalls even lock 🤣).
Parking is ample as there are plenty of parking lots around, and during the weekdays there’s always street parking available. Security is great, they are super nice and helpful when needed, though the patrons here are so respectful that there’s ever really a need for security.
All in all the venue is awesome.
Saw David Morris here and was very pleased with the venue and the talent that came to play! Not my normal type of music to listen to, but was a great show nonetheless!
I wanted to visit a country bar for the 2nd time in my life and was a little nervous coming here because my friend and I are POC, but we actually had a really good time! Parking wasn't a problem. Patrons and staff were friendly and inviting. The shots and beer we ordered were decently priced. I haven't tried the food yet, or have come when there's a show, but I'll update my review when I do.
There's 3 different rooms. The 1st room is mainly the bar, which you can sit at on stools or sit at the booths on the opposite side. There's a water dispenser located in the back. The 2nd room is where the stage and dance floor are. Some of the staff were line dancing on stage, while the others were line dancing in the middle of the dance floor. There's also some booths in the front. The 3rd room is empty besides a couple of booths in the front and back, and also a photobooth in the front. You can view the dance floor from there and just chill if you'd like. There's bathrooms located in the back of the 1st and 3rd room.
I was so excited to learn some of the line dances and was able to pick up a few. Overall, I don't have any complaints. The bathrooms were clean, the environment was great, the drinks were good, the line dancing was fun, and we had a great time. I'll definitely be coming back!
Small but fun venue. Only downside was how hot it gets. Drinks are not overpriced and staff is friendly.
Friendly staff, decent vibe. Went for a multiple band concert, but wanted to see a specific band that was on the advertisement. Unfortunately, that specific band did not actually pay. I feel the venue should have updated their advertising to state that.
Came here for the first time to see a concert for a band called City of the Sun (Incredible, by the way), and I was amazed with the venue, the ambience, and all the pieces that make this place so unique. Sadly, I don't have the pics for it, but they have a bunch of trophies on the wall of all kinds of animals and a very old western movie style. Cocktails were alright, I did not order any food, but everything looks good.
Been to several shows at GTP in the last few years, always a good place to see bands. Smaller room, low stage, adjacent chill out room, bar etc. Last show was Greg Koch who is a guitar wizard like no other, and his trio is just amazing, so absolutely nothing wrong there!
Was kinda bummed at the folks working the door, Idk if someone called in sick but something was definitely not right. They let some people cram inside by the bar while others had to wait outside in the cold (yeah I was one of those ;) Then, an hour after the scheduled door time, they dragged the 'ticket counter' out next to the front door and chaos ensued as now there was just an unruly mob of older classic rock types who'd been standing too long! (yeah, I was one of those too ;)
Anyway, we all got in eventually, saw an awesome show and I'm sure this was just a random failure on the clubs part. We'll see, I'm back there in a month to enjoy & support live music & the venues that supply it :)
Come here for lunch! 3 different menus and all great prices. I had the birriah tacos, so delicious! Oh and the guac is real!!!
My wife and I went to a show here recently (Dec. 2021). We immediately felt bad bc the lone bartender was getting crushed by a Santa pub crawl lol. The door person let us in and we chilled out until the show room opened. Once the bartender got his back up - they were rockin on all cylinders. The show room was a fantastic place to watch an acoustic show. The ONLY issue many of us had was younger patrons awaiting the country DJ after the acoustic set was incredibly rude and heckled the performer quite a bit. It would have been nice if the security or other employees moved them from the area bc It made for a real uneasy and unpleasant experience. I respect GTP for being inclusive of different music styles but they need to be mindful of making sure all are taken care of (i.e. not allow people to be in the area without a ticket or wait until the performer is done)
Find me here almost any night that I don’t have to work.
Probably the best place to drink a cold beer and two-step while making new friends.
Don’t come here and not drink and dance. That just ain’t right.
Yeehaw!
Go to a show here. It's fun. Do it. Get out of your cave and have fun. Support the music scene. #JFA #punkrock #ChristianHosoi
Went there for a concert. Overall had a great time. Speakers should be tuned better to hear the voice of the on stage singers though.
Small place but FUN! Bar staff was fun. We saw one of our favorite bands VRSTY and they sounded amazing! Better that I expected. Great job guys
Went to meg Myers here tonight and we loved the bar! They have a photo booth but it just sends the pictures to your email which was kind of disappointing but still great atmosphere!
