The Royale has become a St. Louis institution. The owner, Stephen Fitzpatricjk has put a lot of thought into the venue and it shows. When you walk in, it fees like a laid back, cool place- which it is- but when you try the food, you realize someone knows what they are doing in the kitchen. I won't go into some crazy long post about like the foodies, but- You should eat here, the food is good! The people you run into at The Royale are always friendly in my experience, and if you live in St. Louis for longer than three weeks, you'll probably run into someone you know. There's always a selection of good beer on tap- The Royale is in my rotation of places I like to frequent. Great bar, great food, great people!

This is my favorite bar in St. Louis and has been so for nearly 10 years. A true neighborhood rallying point. One of the few places I'm confident I can get a great classic cocktail for $8 or less. And the half pours of beer is how I learn about new beers (always great new, funky options). The new menu is a fun departure into shareable plates that is very veggie friendly, check it out! Ok - I am biased to be sure. I run a corner pub. This is the template that I learned from. Not a bad way to learn. Cheers!

Have been a repeat visitor to the Royale for more than 10 years now, even as I moved away from St. Louis. Always plan multiple visits whenever I pass through town these days. Remains my favorite bar in the world, and that's not hyperbole. The staff are congenial and genuinely interested in patrons. The menu (cocktails, beers, food) is exceptionally curated, diverse and downright tasty; I've never had a bad drink or meal. Perhaps most important, the establishment is dedicated to serving its local community, which makes this less a bar and more an establishment, less a business and more a local fixture, less an eatery and more a hotspot. Can't recommend it enough.

If you’re looking for a unique, comfortable and great place to eat – or if you’re looking for a great place to meet friends for a drink – the Royale has it all. A neighborhood favorite, the restaurant offers a full menu sure to please all. The food is consistently delicious and reasonably priced. A fully stocked bar leaves no libation call unanswered, and the staff is tremendously talented in making everyone feel at home. The Royale has been a personal favorite for years and has never disappointed!

Love the atmosphere of this place, both inside the bar and outside on the patio. Nice and helpful staff and excellent drinks and food with local and seasonal ingredients. Also a good choice for vegetarians. I especially love the mixed salads with grilled cheese and the craft beer list.

Well, what a hidden gem this place is! The service and food are incredible; the beer and spirits section would take a year of steady attendance to try them all. But the place itself is what we really loved—all of our favorite social justice warriors have pictures on the walls, and there’s a small lending library at the front. Do yourself a big favor and visit The Royale!

The Royale is one of my favorite spots in STL. The menu isn’t huge, but everything on it is absolutely delicious. I also love The Royale for its commitment to sustainability; it’s a very “green” spot that composts and sources as locally as it can.

Where everybody knows your name. Well, they probably would if I got to get out more! Seriously though, it’s a nice cozy atmosphere with good people all around you. A great gathering place for crazy liberals like me :)

Was recommended to eat here and I am so happy that I did. Appetizers of roasted nuts and pecan crusted bacon were delicious starters. I had the jerk chicken and I really enjoyed it. Atmosphere is light and peaceful. If ever in the St Louis area. Definitely stop In for a great meal

Wow! This is bar food?. Our party of five were so impressed with this place. We have dined in many fine dining restaurants in our life time, and this bar food could give these restaurants a run for their money. No kidding. What bar do you know that serves Wagyu grass fed beef burgers? Amazing, and not over the top expensive like the Burger Bar. Everything we ordered was wonderful, from the seasonal salads, house salads, East West Club, Dippy melt, all the way to the two tone beans and billy goat chips. I am not a fan of chips, but these were really good...I truly enjoyed my Dippy Melt....best well seasoned fresh tasting sliced beef on a perfectly crunchy roll....my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I will be coming back here again when I am in the area....go!!!!

Fun and fresh! This was a great spot to grab some drinks with friends. The patio was inviting and lovely, with cute lamps and babbling fountains. I liked the menus in old school book bindings-fun conversation starter! Many folks have raved about the brisket tacos, and they were the waitresses' sincere recommendation. They were awesome...not disappointed at all. Tender, tasty brisket, delicious texture of savory shredded meat and crunchy fresh peppers and cabbage, well seasoned. I opted for a side of fresh fruit, and it was portion perfect! I left feeling satisfied, not stuffed. The decadent taco was offset by the fact that Royale nailed the proper size for this dish. What a drink menu!! Reasonably priced, imaginative and comprehensive. The cocktails shine - I loved my Dark and Stormy - but the craft beer selection, tap and bottles, are not to be missed. Service was fine, if a bit overworked. Zero complaints for a good time.

I think the food is pretty great but why does the wait staff have to be so unfriendly and miserable?

Best beef brisket tacos!. I've been going here for a few years. They have the best beef brisket tacos every! I have never had a bad meal here. I don't get the negative reviews. My daughters love the grilled cheese sandwiches. The beer selection is tops as well. They have a large mixed drink selection as well. Brought my vinyl in last week on a snow day for them to play and got a free pint. What else can you ask for? Owner is a super cool dude as well. Just met him from going there quite a bit.

Fav Place in STL. This is hands down our favorite place to eat at in STL. The service is always great, food is always amazing and the beer list is great as well. Lots of craft choices and no "Lohr" distributing. My wife and I eat here at least once a week and have never had a bad experience in our 5+ years coming.

The Royale Burger is awesome, as is the Fish Tacos and East West club too. They have a lot of vegetarian options if that's what you're into and they aren't bothered by the trouble of requesting that.

If you don't mind a old school south side feel and can dig on the obscure music that might get played on a Saturday night I highly highly recommend this place!

Went there for the first time on a cloudy day. Service was great. Our server, David, took care of us. He did a great job, people should ask for him for great recs. They had great music playing and had a band setting up at the moment. Food portions were small, but good. This place gas a great beer menu and wonderful cocktail menu named after st. Louis south spots. Gotta love south city St. Louis.

Worth Checking out but results vary. Food and cocktails are fresh and delicious. A good place to see and be seen on the St. Louis urban hipster circuit. This place has a lot of attitude and self righteousness going on. If it's cold outside and the patio's not open, the interior is downright small and uncomfortable. Be prepared to pay an extra few bucks for coolness.

Greatly enjoyed our dinner and drink here. The food and service were outstanding. The fire pits outside were wonderful. Nice landscaping. A few issues that could be better: parking is street parking on a side street and accessibility. While there is a ramp to the front door, there are no tables in the inside dining room that can accommodate a person in a wheelchair. Also the higher chairs and tables are a challenge to those with balance issues and those who use other mobility devices such as a cane or walker. The prices seemed about $2-$3 higher for items that are at other similar establishments. I think we will return, but we will need to plan and gauge our finances accordingly.

I had a fantastic experience at The Royale in Tower Grove, St. Louis, MO. This cozy neighborhood bar truly lives up to its reputation of serving great drinks/cocktails. How did I not know about this spot? While it may not be the largest establishment, it's the perfect spot to meet up with friends and locals. What stood out to me the most was the beautiful courtyard. In good weather, it's a delightful escape for table service, providing a pleasant atmosphere for a meal or drinks. Even during the winter, the addition of fire pits allows you to enjoy the fresh air year-round. This combination of indoor and outdoor spaces makes The Royale a versatile and welcoming place to unwind and connect with others. The drink options were impressive, and I particularly enjoyed the Manhattan. The staff was friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. I highly recommend The Royale for anyone looking for a cozy, neighborhood bar with a charming outdoor space.

We went to a happy hour for a friend who is leaving our workplace in a few days. The happy hour lasted for over three😄😄. The food we ordered was very good. MJ had brisket. I had a griddle burger. We were served by the owner, who was very nice. We ate outside. The weather was nice and music was playing. We will be going again.

I came in on a Sunday afternoon. Had the burger, which was excellent. Plus, a watermelon salid, which was very good as well. Service was good, once they got to me as they were busy on my arrival

Came here for an event, all that was available were drinks and Kate night menu. Absolutely loved the vibes of the patio. The fire pits, grape vines. All of it Only two bartenders on staff and they held their own. Did wait some time, but considering the crowd. Bravo. Good cocktail menu too

Small neighborhood bar with glass brick windows that provide great light and a cozy feel. Warm wood interior, good drink selection, very pleasant wait staff, and a small yet ambitious menu. The back patio is great in the Spring time! I tried the jackfruit tacos -- flavorful and spicy without being too hot. And the breaded catfish taco is tops. Nice place!

Food and drinks were amazing! We especially loved the non-alcoholic drinks. The vegan nachos were undoubtedly superior to everything else we ordered. Unfortunately there was a new chef in the kitchen and with the large crowd, our relatively simple food took about 30-40 mins to be served.

I love everything about thus place. The drinks are beautiful, the patio is gorgeous. It can take a very long time (a VERY long time) to get a drink but that's because they get pretty busy and the beautifully crafted cocktails and mocktails are time consuming. Usually worth the wait if you have time. All of the stars.

Famous for cocktails, but we went primarily for food, and because they require vaccination. The food menu is somewhat limited, with many vegan options, but the meat dishes we tried were excellent. This visit we just shared an appetizer and had a cocktail. I was very busy Sunday evening.

This quaint neighborhood restaurant has a lot going for it. The staff is attentive, and the food is very good. Is it cheap? That's subjective. I'm 75 years old, and grew up in the Delmar Loop when White Castles were just 5 cents a piece. That being said, when I ordered the "Griddle Burger," which the menu describes: "Two 4 oz grass-fed smash patties with bacon & white cheddar on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, onion & pickle on the side. Served with Billy Goat chips," I have to admit, even with the $16 price, it was good enough for me to want to come back and have it again. I opted for a house salad instead of the Billy Goat chips, which were restaurant fried potato chips. Being a "Boomer" I am obligated to comment on the volume of the music played, but I understand younger cliental probably wouldn't even notice it. In short, I like this place and will indeed come back for another Griddle Burger and that delicious house salad.

Fabulous patio to take your puppy! The drinks and food are unique. Vegan and vegetarian options for many entrees but also enough choices for meat and cheese lovers. Very happy to have found this restaurant!

Mostly Vegan and Vegetarian oriented dishes but with meat options as well. Heather was my server, and she did a great job! I had the mushroom spinach bites and some of the spinach dip. Both were great! First Spinach dip I have ever enjoyed, actually. The bar and interior eating area are spacious enough to comfortably move through. My buddy who was with me uses a wheelchair and was comfortable. Entries and exits are accessible. Food was good. Prices were fair. All around a nice experience. I will be returning again soon!

Delicious Spinach & artichoke dip, meh on everything else we had. Need proof of vaccination to get inside. We got the spinach & artichoke dip which was absolutely delicious. It was brought out with tortilla chips which was a little weird. Kind of felt like we could get them from Wal-mart. I got the “smash burger” which was not very smashed it was quite thick and absolutely flavorless. I don’t even know if salt/pepper was used. I really hope it was a mistake. Mine came with “The Billy Goat” chips which are fine, but I prefer fries. I did not ask if they had them but I didn’t see them anywhere on the menu. I did like the way it was plated though, because I do not like any of the “garden” so it was already off of my burger so I can just leave it off. Zach got the brisket tacos and said they were good the tacos were over stuffed and needed some acidity to balance the overall flavor. The Brussels sprout salad that came with it, tasted like crunchy bananas which was unexpected, good, but not expected. There are lots of Vegan and gluten free options as well which is nice. Service was great and at the time you need proof of vaccination to sit inside along with your ID. 4 stars because the food was just Ok and I believe that was a mistake.

Great place to relax. The patio is gorgeous and the fire pits are beautiful and perfect for St. Louis in the fall. Nice owner who who warmly greets his guests. Bartenders are wonderful mixologists and very down to earth and friendly. I can’t believe I have never been here, but I will definitely return. Wish I had come for dinner as I saw they have a chopped Brussels salad I can’t wait to try!
