This is the most underrated Vietnamese restaurant in St. Louis. The elderly owner and his wife make all the food fresh to order. Call ahead and make sure they’re open. There’s a for sale sign inside, they would like to retire at some point.
Still the best spring rolls in St. Louis!
Amazing vegetarian/vegan fare. You gotta try the Joey B if you are in the mood for a vegetarian sandwich, I recommend extra 'meat.' Crepes are outstanding as well.
Service will take a while, be prepared to wait. It's not the nicest ambiance and they don't have a soda machine, but the food is worth it.
Fantastic food and great for vegans!! I think in the past month I've visited about 8 times. Mung bean spring rolls and the 09v vegan beef soup are my favorite :)
Absolutely delicious & affordable. Lots of tasty vegan options. I highly recommend the vegan spicy "beef" noodle soup & the crispy fried crepes! Will definitely be back!
This place is the jam. Can't order over the phone very easily from some of the online menus' veiwible over Google because they fill out your order ticket using the number code from their in-store menu. It is amazing food that is worth waiting around for coming in to order takeout or if you're dining in.
Sauces come with nearly everything and are an awesome addition to Vietnamese classics.
The gate all the way to the left is the only one that is ever unlocked on the fence around the patio so don't be deterred.
Delicious vegan options, the decor leaves a little to be desired, but the food was great!
Amazing place
Amazing food
Amazing and friendly staff
Order anything curry and you won’t be disappointed!! Also try the mung bean spring rolls. I could eat those everyday 💜
They claim to have the best Spring Rolls in the city. They are good, but then I'm still working on comparing the other SE Asian restaurants in the city.
We LOVE this place! If you haven’t had their Mung Bean Spring Rolls- you are missing out!
As of 6/14/2022 open for carryout only. Carryout orders must be placed over phone before coming to pick them up. Door is locked, and open sign is turned off, but they will answer their phone!! Get it while you still can, the owners are listing the restaurant for sale because they wish to retire. Has said they will keep serving carryout until they find a buyer. God willing they'll find one who is equally skilled in the art of mung bean spring rolls 🍽
Still open for carry out, spring rolls are still delicious as ever.
Just realized I’ve never left a review here. I lived in St. Louis for almost 5 years (moved away 4yrs ago) and this was my absolute FAVORITE spot to go to for pho. There’s not a soup or dish here that I haven’t liked. I’ve brought several friends here on different occasions and they took the time to show them how the dish they ordered was put together/ate. They always make sure you’re happy with your order. Very sweet family. I moved out of the state and it’s still one of my very favorite restaurants, ever. 💖
Absolutely delicious. The environment is very cute and comforting. A great mom n pop restaurant. There are plenty of vegan options and the mung bean spring rolls are a delicacy. Definitely bring something to do or have a lot to talk about with your company because it will be a little bit of a wait, but well worth it
One of the best places I've ever eaten in St. Louis. The owners are so kind. I've heard the building is up for sale but they are doing carryout in the meantime, so get it while you can. Their spring rolls truly are the best, and I had the bowl with egg rolls sliced up in it. It is called Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio. They offer several vegetarian choices. If you can, please support these folks' business while we are still lucky enough to have it. Wishing them luck in their future endeavors!
Amazing! VEGAN friendly! The food and service was great. The atmosphere was exactly what I like as well, laid back and not too fancy. The owner suggested that I try the mung bean spring rolls instead of the tofu spring rolls that I would usually order. I was hesitant at first because I wasn't sure how beans would work in a spring roll. But, he convinced me and I am so glad that he did. There were no loose beans in my spring roll, but instead, a very delicious homemade tofu like substance made from mung beans instead of soy beans. SO GOOD! I'm not sure if anyone else does this, I wish they did.
One of the other great things about Banh Mi So 1, is the very vegan friendly menu. Eating actually vegan (or even vegetarian)Vietnamese food can be hard with unknown broths and fish oils, but this place clearly marks on the menu which dishes are vegan or can be made vegan!
Thank you Banh Mi So 1, for becoming my new favorite spot in St. Louis for Vietnamese food!
This is one of our favorite places, ever. Amazing vegan options! Favorites: spring rolls... the tofu and the mung bean are both delicious. The vegan egg rolls are another favorite. Highly recommend the vegan Joe B sandwich, the vegan pho, vegan spicy beef and vegan curry. I'm sure everything else is wonderful as well but we have a hard time ordering new things since we we love our favorites so much.
This place is an amazing family-owned locale that provides amazing hand-made meticulously curated food at a great price. Dewey, the son of the owners is the best server. This is perhaps my favorite restaurant. I tend to categorize, but every time I go there I'm so satisfied and happy it's ridiculous. Their sandwiches and apps are bloody amazing. And the atmosphere is so chill. It's wonderful.
