Soup. Lets start with the soup... the best. Panera: eat your heart out!! And the meat? Dont get me started! This man is the reason i cannot be a vegetarian!! We love you, Martin!! Thank you for feeding us when we would have gone hungry. We are forever in debt ;) You kept us going when we couldn't. God speed, my friend. God speed. #Karma <-- how does it feel?????

I had heard about this incredible eatery for years. While my oldest son was on his way to SJSU, he passed all the mediocre sandwich shops for the local faire and came across the Prunedale Market. So glad he did. This place is a gem. Just go! It's a bucket list thing! Martin, the owner, takes so much pride in his business. Small business at its best!

Owner is super nice and offered us a bunch of free stuff. Bring cash as there's no ATM/credit card on site. Safeway is the closest place to get cash. The ribs were amazing quality especially for a small business. Would definitely return.

The “BEST BBQ” sign outside is not a gimmick. I’ve had a lot of amazing food experiences, but I only leave reviews for places that I believe are top quality. Prunedale Market & Deli has THE BEST sandwiches and soups around. Forget Subway, Panera, and the other junky quick eats. For whatever reason you need some good BBQ, go to Prunedale Market. Quick note: Come prepared with cash. The market only accepts cash and does not have an ATM. If you have to drive around looking for one, it’s worth it!

Truly, fall off the bone pork ribs! I was skeptical at first, but boy did he prove me wrong. Smoky, tender, and a delicious dipping sauce. The clam chowder is not to be missed. I will be a regular on Fridays when it has served.

By far the best BBQ in/near Salinas! Martin plays it fast and loose with a laidback easygoing style. His attitude is worth five stars alone! Absolutely love this place. A few regulars stop by while you’re in and you can see Martin’s pay-it-forward karma-care like attitude. He feels like “Uncle Martin” from the moment you meet him! Please don’t take offense to this, but California doesn’t really know what BBQ is. Once you’ve had fresh smoked anything in Texas, it’s really hard to give five stars elsewhere. Those guys have perfected the art of smoking meat. For Salinas California - this is five star BBQ - does my inner foodie desire to have that next level Texas BBQ in my back yard? Heckin yeah. And if anyone could do it - it would be Martin. Martin doesn’t even need to take his craft to “the next level”, because there really isn’t anyone near by who is a worthy rival to push him further – his BBQ is really freaking good the way it is. What ain’t broke don’t need to be fixed. Besides BBQ - Martin has a secret passion for making Italian food, you’ll pick this up in his subtle choice of bread, or cut of the onion. If you’re lucky enough to try one of his soups, you’ll see Martin’s Italian style cooking expressed with bold flavors and hearty generous cuts of sausage with full body sauces. Stop by, share a tri tip sandwich with someone and get some ribs to go. The outside pick nick tables are perfect for a quick bite with the family, it has a very romantic road side quick-stop vibe to it.

Must stop for an awesome BBQ. Yes, it is in a neighborhood, yes, it looks like a mini Mart. But don't let that stop you. We had ribs, tri-tip and he threw in a sausage and a piece of chicken. We walked out of there with a ton of meat for a really good price!

If I could give this place six stars I would. GREAT BBQ tri-tip sandwich. Off the charts! You drive down this residential street and think this can’t be right... it is. Trust your GPS. The place is cheap, but CASH ONLY... and yes, it’s fantastic. So good! Insanely good. Needless to say, I highly recommend!!!!!

Owner is a great guy. Our family tries to buy meals from him atleast once every other week. If you're looking for killer bbq at a reasonable price this is the only place you should go.
