Zao is simply one of the best restaurant chains. They offer a wide variety of options to accommodate a wide variety of diets. I always get a white rice bowl with tofu and green curry. Their tofu is some of the best you can get at any chain restaurant. One thing I want to highlight is their passion limeade with hibiscus. That drink is godly.
Yummy Asian fusion place. My favorite is their soup with meatballs and rice noodles. I also really like their rice bowls with the yellow curry sauce. If you like Thai food, you will enjoy this place, even though it is not traditional Thai at all.
We like Zao's to begin with, but we used their catering service and it was awesome! Had 80 people at our house - Zao's came and set everything up, providing everything needed to make and eat their bowls, including warming trays and utensils. Most of our guests were from out of town and had never had Zao's before and they all loved it. Their catering specialist, Keira, was great to work with too. Next time we need catering, we'll go back to Zao's for sure.
Clean place. Happy employees. Fast, affordable, healthier than sandwiches, and delicious oriental taste. I recommend this place.
So clean and flavorful! Everything was cooked very well. A high quality lunch spot!
De đź‘Źlishđź‘Źous đź‘Ź my wife and I are pescitarian and it's always hard finding a place to eat but this was definitely a golden find. It's like Panda but leaves you feeling fresh, healthy, and oh so satisfied! We got the tofu - it was perfectly seasoned. This location has a great staff. All of them were super helpful and friendly in helping us choose and even taste-test! Thank you Zao Asian Cafe #lftx #zaoasiancafe
First time being here. Really nice place the food was great. I had chicken with noodles and teriyaki sauce. The size was small I wish they had different sizes. I would definitely recommend it. They also have rice option.
For a fast food place, Zao is excellent, very fresh and tasty! Quick service which is great because it's very busy during peak lunch and dinner times. Zao is very much like Cafe Rio with an Asian twist. It's a bit pricey with a drink, expect to pay $10+.
There is limited outdoor seating.
As others have said, it's great food for its price. It's clean, rather fast, and filling. It tastes good and is customizable. This place comes pretty close to pareto efficiency; that is, it does nearly everything as well as it could without worsening something else.
I was here with a couple of colleagues. I had the bowl with rice and chicken. The food was clean and neatly prepared. Neat looking staff and well prepared food. Great ambience and price is very reasonable. Would 100% recommend!
Great dinner with amazing food. The staff are always nice and the food is great and quick. Good for a nice lunch during work or school
Great service and healthy food. We had a banh mi sandwich and a steak salad to share. The fresh frescas were also delicious my favorite is the limeade.
Their noodle bowls are nothing elaborate although they are tasty, fresh and satisfying.
This is a great place to drop in for a quick lunch.
Zao is a current favorite of mine. The app is easy to use but only gives points if you order through the app, which is often slower than walking in. I’ve used it so much I’m faster now and I like the 11th meal free, so I’ll take a bit longer to get points.
In person the checkout process asks for a tip….I’m paying over $10 a bowl, nobody comes to my table, I have to pick up all my own stuff and fill my own drink. It’s cafeteria style food. A tip? I paid for my meal. They want to be tipped for….not messing it up?
The inability to earn points in person and asking for a tip is cumbersome and two things I don’t like.
BUT I love the food. So I’ll happily pay the money, and I go there at least once a week….maybe twice.
I strongly recommend, just be forewarned about the app, and you can skip the tip.
If it was cheaper I’d tip, I feel like the cost of wages is already worked into the price of the food.
I recommend Zao….delicious!
Great atmosphere and really fast got the chicken tacos and they were amazing also everything is very healthy and not very expensive.
Love this place. So simple, healthy and yet tasty. I got their tacos with chicken and they were 10/10!
Zao feels like it takes the best from Rumbi and Panda Express and combines them to form a great quick service restaurant like Chipotle. The menu is pretty simple with different meats and sauces to choose from. My personal favorite is the chicken bowl with teriyaki sauce and yakisoba noodles. They don’t get stingy with the sauce and the portion sizes are large enough to fill you up but not so large you fell sick if you eat the whole meal. It’s reasonably priced making it a great place to grab a quick lunch.
My first time here and I loved this tiny Cafe! The food was even better than we expected. The chicken noodle bowl and all the fresh veggies and toppings was amazing! I'll definitely be back when I am in Downtown Salt Lake.
