We had a wonderful time hosting 45 close family and friends at From Scratch last night! The food, service and atmosphere was absolutely perfect!!! The general manager was so wonderful to all of my guests and really rolled out the red carpet!

I wish the food was as good as other places, or maybe we weren't lucky with the choices. I ordered the scratch burger, which, in my opinion, was too salty, and something was missing on the flavor side of it. My husband ordered the egg burger. In his opinion, the burger was missing salt, spices, or a je ne sais quoi. I wish the French fries were better. Like I said, maybe it was the choice we made.

We are looking for some new places in SLC, and stumbled upon From Scratch. The menu looked fun so we gave it a try. Salmon - 4 stars - salmon was cooked perfectly. The pan fried veggies were flavorful. The mashed potato needed a little more love. We are a big potato fan in this family. A little more effort would go along way. Scratch burger - 3 stars - the onion straws on the burger were soggy. The flavor was fine. Hopes were high but we would not come back for this burger. The fries were nothing special. They made their own ketchup. Super cool touch. The bread appetizer was nothing special. The apple preserve was exceptional. The bread was a forgettable delivery system. They have a lot of really good looking things on the menu that will be back to try

From Scratch will always be my go to place in Salt Lake City. I love that everything is from scratch. The pasta, the bread, the sauces. The risotto cake with the tomato sauce and arugula is the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. The wood fired bread with the butter and apple jam is amazing. I’ve tried multiple things here and they’re all unique and delicious. I love this place. One night, they forgot about us and didn’t get us our food till we asked someone. They wanted to make everything right so they gave us our food for free! We could’ve had a bad experience that night but they made sure to give us a good experience. I love this place so much!

Service: 5/5 , Food: 4/5 Tried From Scratch for the first time and overall, it was a good experience. We were able to make a reservation for our party of 9 and it was really convenient seeing how busy the restaurant gets. The staff was super nice and our server was very helpful and on top of checking in on us and making sure waters were filled. We ordered: Brussels Sprouts - 100% recommend Fennel Sausage Pizza - Highly Recommend Chicken Parmesan with house made noodles - 100% recommend Pastrami Burger - Not Great. The bun was so hard that you could knock on it and clearly hear the hollow sound. Perhaps it was left under the heat lamp too long. Fettuccine Alfredo with house made noodles - 100% recommend. At the end of the meal, we asked for our parking ticket to be validated. I’m not sure if the staff didn’t recognize the parking ticket, but after fighting with the parking booth lady, we found out that the stamp from the restaurant was not actually valid and for the wrong parking structure. Had the staff known that was not the right ticket to validate, we could have avoided the whole situation, but what’s done is done. For those of you who park anywhere but the Wells Fargo Building, just know that the validation stamp doesn’t actually work.

This place was so good!! The food was amazing and the drinks were too. Our server Rudy really made the meal so much better as well. Definitely going to come back next time we’re in SLC. I would 100% recommended others to dine here.

The fennel sausage pizza was INCREDIBLE! Also got the steak and salad, it was excellent. Great atmosphere and fast seating + service, plus excellent pricing too. The fennel sausage pizza tasted delicious, plus it was huge and only $16 - excellent price! Other meals like the burger came with lots of food too for the price. Definitely a new favorite!

Great little spot near the Gallivan Center in Salt Lake City. Cozy little side alley. Dairy Free across the street. To begin we used the check wait time option on Google which said there was little to no wait. We didn’t get there for about 20 min so when we got there we have a small wait. The place was packed but we ate at the bar which was fine. Took a few moments to wait (to be seated and then to order). Overall very short wait time and the overall time to be served was perfect. Had a Diet Coke as I waited. We ordered and I neglected to take fresh pictures at the start of the meal. What I’ve included here is what remained of the delicious meal. We loved the food. Gustavo our server was excellent and attentive. Other servers assisted and helped make the experience fantastic. They asked us to move a short way down the bar and accommodated us for that. We ordered the woodfire bread with Apple jam and butter. Very good. Loved it. We also ordered the beet salad which we split. Again classic beets and arugula. Loved it. Just the right balance. I also ordered Bleu Bacon Burger with Sweet Potato Fries. Wonderful meal. My wife ordered the steak sandwich with traditional fries. As we sat at the bar we watched them make pizzas and loafs of bread. Really fun. Like I said the place was packed before we got there. They seated us within 10 min. Right after we were seated another huge group of like 20 folks came afterward so we feel we hit it at just the right moment or we could have waited awhile. With that said I heard they were understaffed for the night but they did an amazing job with tables full. People were happy and loud. I quite enjoyed the environment and loved the food. Foodies will like it. We still had to take some food home in boxes.

I'm a flight attendant and was in Salt Lake for a layover. I wanted to find a healthy option for food and came across wonderful place. The food was very fresh and delicious. I sat at the bar where I could watch them cook and prepare the food. Very professional and very entertaining, I definitely suggest the bar to watch them. This restaurant will not disappoint!

If you’re visiting SLC, this is one of the best restaurants you can go to. I had the pastrami burger… out of this world. Fries, also out of this world. I honestly might come back for round 2. If you’re in SLC, you have to stop by.

Came here for lunch today, overall a pretty good restaurant. They have several types of food and I'd be willing to bet that any of them are good options. I got the egg burger and sweet potato fries and it was good quality. Service was great, portions were reasonable. I would come back. I will make a note that they may have raised the prices without updating the menu. Maybe it was more expensive because I got sweet potato fries? Can't be sure, the receipt didn't say. Nothing crazy, I just don't think anyone likes the surprise charge.

My mouth is watering just thinking about this place. I’ve dined here a few times now and have been impressed with everything I’ve ordered. The sourdough bread service is what keeps me coming back. I’ve also really enjoyed the Honey-Apple salad, BLT, Tri trip and the Brussel sprouts starter. There are so many other things on the menu that I can’t wait to try. Will definitely be back.

I had someone recently recommend this place. So I saved it for my birthday! The food was very good and filled with flavor. I got the bistro gan off and it was so tasty. I’ll be back for that, but I do want to mention that the experience was very good. I was just so impressed with the short staff. They had 2 servers and a guest service person they were all over the place keeping up with all the customers. It was a busy night. I received the wrong beer I mentioned this to my server and he gave me two options to remove the different or have another beer I had already had some from a brewery before dinner so I requested the difference of the beer, which was three dollars. I just left it as part of the tip and he had 20%++ tip just for being so cool and how busy it was I felt bed. I’ll definitely be back to taste all the menu items

I had an arugala salad with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing and grilled chicken, and it was of the best I've ever had. They have a nice menu and I look forward to trying their sandwiches done time. When leaving, the waitress brought extra travel cups of iced tea, a really nice touch! Great food, decent atmosphere (though a bit loud), and decent prices. I highly recommend them.

We got a couple pizzas and chicken alfredo. The pizzas were really good. Especially the 4 cheese. Our only complaint was the wait staff seemed to be a little tired and the floors were dirty. However we would definitely recommend.

It was good... Was it worth the price point? Absolutely not. The bread was really hard to chew. I don't know if that was by design, but it diminished my experience. I don't believe I'll be returning. Our server was great though.

I am a huge fan of supporting local and especially of from scratch, homemade cooking! My husband and I were visiting SLC while we were staying in Park City. I made a reservation ahead of time, just in case. It was a Saturday and we ate around 5:30. It was not busy at all, however, there was a big art festival going on in the city, so I imagine that may have played a role. Either way, I always recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you can, especially on weekends. I love the casual vibe, and open kitchen concept of From Scratch! From where we were sitting, we could see right into the kitchen and the wood-fire grill where they make pizza. There is indoor and outdoor seating available her during the warmer months of the year. I ordered a salad with Salmon, it was very good I nearly finished the dish, but the Sweet Potato Fries won me over. There were cooked perfectly with a good crunch. My husband ordered the Chicken Alfredo and he finished his dish. The portion sizes were perfect. I can appreciate a restaurant that doesn't overfeed patrons. The service was good and quick. I think we were in and out in about an hour. I would definitely dine here again and recommend it to visiting friends.
