Tried this place for the first time. We had a gift card, and honestly didn't know where this was until we ate at a neighboring restaurant, so we came back to try Somi. The prices were a bit higher than I expected, but everything is now. My garlic eggplant didn't warrant the spicy moniker, and although the flavor and overall dish were amazing, the eggplant (at least on this occasion) was overcooked. The chicken and green beans were delicious as well. Starting with the cucumber Avocado rolls was a light yummy start. Finishing off with fried bananas that were delicious was a nice treat. You should definitely try this place. The staff and food were great. I wish they were as busy as some of the other places in this little 'food court' but I welcomed NO WAIT at dinner on a Friday without reservations.

One of my favorite local Asian restaurants in the Salt Lake area. The ambience is nice and quiet, the service is great, and the food is excellent. I usually get a rice plate. I really recommend their appetizer of summer rolls with their peanut sauce, it is stellar and my top pick from their menu.
The lunch prices appear to only apply on weekdays, so keep that in mind if you’re going there on a Saturday or Sunday lunch.

I had a delightful dining experience at Somi Restaurant. Their fried chicken was flavorful and impeccably cooked, a definite must-try! The fried squid with basil was also quite enjoyable, albeit slightly overpowering in taste, but paired wonderfully with main dishes.
We ordered the pork chop vermicelli, which was a hit! The pork chop was well-marinated, complemented with a delightful sauce, and the accompanying vegetables were fresh and vibrant.
The restaurant ambiance added to our positive experience: spacious with bright and welcoming lighting, creating a comfortable dining environment.
However, a minor drawback was the mandatory tip, which felt a bit on the higher side. Despite this, Somi Restaurant certainly left a good impression, and I look forward to future dining experiences here.

Really delicious Vietnamese food. I had the plate with chicken egg rolls and beef. Really want to come back and try the orange chicken and other menu items! Servers were great and atmosphere!

Place is amazing I’ve eaten here three times already this week. I got the Somi special so if you like vermicelli noodles these are so good. I usually get it Togo or delivery but dining is super cool too very friendly and lots of light.

Great place, with friendly staff, good food, and good prices. We had the shaking beef, pot stickers, and cucumber avocado roll. The passion fruit fizz was a nice refreshing drink on a summer afternoon. I had the beef medium rare; the flavor, texture, and doneness were fantastic. The cook caramelized the onion nicely and it was al dente. The vegetables were ripe and crisp; the tomato was juicy. The peanut sauce was wonderful. For dessert, she had the creme brulee, and it was amazing. It was creamy with vanilla bean and a fresh sweet sliced strawberry on top. I had the fried banana with ice cream; it was delicious. The banana was creamy with a crispy batter shell, drizzled in caramel and sprinkled with powdered sugar. The vanilla bean ice cream had a great flavor, mild enough to not overpower the banana but strong enough to enjoy the flavor.

The environment was great. Food was stupendous. Tried one of their new cocktails (Singapore sling) and really enjoyed it. I will be back again. Thanks!

Great food, service average.
Mauricio, our waiter, was really kind. He did a good job.
The hostess wasn’t efficient. We entered the restaurant, nobody was there. We waited, two servers looked at us and none took initiative to call the waitress. Small details that can be easily fixed by training the staff.
The food was really tasty.

Their calamari is some of the best I've ever had they put jalapenos on it and basil. Create a wonderful light plate with it and the Avocado and Cucumber. Cocktail menu is wonderful

The summer rolls were amazing! I usually hate peanut, but the dipping sauce for the summer rolls were good together. The wagu beef pho was okay for me. Our server Flordia, was absolutely amazing and funny. I would definitely come back here again. Thank you for the wonderful service 😄.

Been here 4 times, consistently tasty. I came for the Moo Shu (which I am always on the hunt to find this dish really well done) and they did not disappoint. I will say I ordered it to-go one time and not quite as good as the 3 times I had it there. Service is solid. Also the calamari is has a nice crunch and is well prepared!

Really loved the atmosphere at Somi. The drinks so good with fresh lychee and ginger . I thought the food was fantastic ( not as authentic as I prefer ) but was still wonderful. I ordered the vermicelli with prawn which was cooked perfectly . The Staff was very attentive & friendly. I would definitely put it on your list as a must try if you haven't already.

Rodel is an excellent server. Sitting outside was fun. The food was flavorful, colorful, and full of surprises! The seafood pan seared noodles dish had pieces of yummy garlic, and the veggies and fish were cooked just right! Thank you!! Will be having the crab soup next time!

My friends and I came here as as a back up option, and it turned out to be the perfect ending to our trip.
After hiking and camping with a dog all week for vacation, we figured we would treat ourselves to a real, non-fastfood meal on our last day. The "restaurant" next door did not meet mine or my friends' expectations.
This bistro had exquisite food and great service! I'm honestly surprised it wasn't packed with more customers. The waiter was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. We were also glad we didn't have to walk far for a restaurant with a patio to accommodate our dog. The kicker is that we came pretty late and didn't realize it was an hour before the restaurant closed but they did not make us feel rushed or unwelcome AT ALL! Being tired, hungry, and from out of town, we felt that the place catered to our needs and we appreciated that.
Hands down the best dining experience I had in SLC and my friends absolutely agreed.

This is an absolutely amazing restaurant and such a welcome addition to the Sugar House neighborhood. The menu is creatively crafted and includes inexpensive Pho dishes as well as mouth watering main courses. The Branzino with Black Bean Sauce is the best Branzino dish I have ever had, hands down! Give it a try. The combination of great food with a broad beer, drink and wine list makes Somi the perfect place to spend an evening!

Somi is hands down one of the best eating establishments in the Salt Lake Valley.
Honestly, some of the best Vietnamese cuisine I have ever had! There are so many delicious items to choose from the menu.
I definitely recommend the Chicken Curry Potstickers, and most certainly the Lemon Grass Pho, as well as the Seafood Pho broth (best Pho I have ever tried)!
But it doesn't stop there: be sure to treat yourself to their Spirits menu, and their other courses.
You will not be disappointed! Tell them Nate referred ya.

Got to check out this place after hearing it from a few people. Love the location, service was so-so, could has been better for she was abit unattentive to us, the foods, hits and misses...I’m Vietnamese and I know food quite well, I would say that dry foods (food without soup) are good, and the the wet (soup with it) are salty and meats are also salty. Appetizers are descents - prices are on abit high but with the location, it’s okey.

I work as a manager at the hotel behind Somi, so I've always wanted to try it. I like to recommend places to my guests, and love to support smaller, local business with referals. I read some reviews, and I have to disagree with any bad ones. This place is legit! I had the beef pho', which is my favorite meal, and somi did not disappoint. It was the best pho' I have had in SLC. We also had the best spring rolls HANDS DOWN I have ever had in 35 years of life. Then we were treated to their fried bananas, which we were skeptical of, because my partner MUST be gluten free. Turns out, they fry in a sticky rice powder, not bread. DELICIOUS!!! Side note... every meal at this place is gluten-free. The atmosphere was clean and fresh, the staff was welcoming and kind. The owner was very engaged with his staff and guests. Actually, he was awesome. I wanted to give him a hug because our meals were so good and our experience outstanding. I highly recommend this place. Yum, now I'm pho'cking hungry again.

This place is over the top with quality and purpose. Owner, Michael, is there everyday and his staff is extremely versed in excellent service. Plus the food and drinks are over the top outstanding... fine taste and good price. My highest recommendation for a restaurant in Salt Lake City.

I first visited Somi a couple of months ago after my friend, Josh Christensen, posted a photo of their incredible Spring Rolls. We ordered the Somi Vermicelli and it was almost a mystic experience. A beautifully-presented dish of four different meats, lovely shredded salad vegetables over vermicelli, served with a delightful, mildly spicy sauce on the side. I've never been able to order anything else, except for their pork potstickers, which are hands-down the best I have ever tasted. If you spill some food at Somi or dab with your napkin, you won't see a grease spot, just natural juices and the light sauce. I was counting it up this morning and realized that by saturday I will have taken or sent over 40 people to Somi. To a person, they have all returned on their own. The food is fresh, plentiful and moderately priced. The service is impeccable and friendly. And the owner, Michael, will always stop by the table and thank us for coming. If you haven't eaten at Somi, you are in for a treat. I think it has become my favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City

The food is beyond delicious and the staff is wonderfully kind and attentive. I'm so glad we ate here - my husband and I picked it randomly but it was an A+ life decision. Also, the music they play is on point

I went there with a large family group and now this is our favorite Saturday Lunch place. They can handle large groups well. Friendly service and excellent food choices. So far the Somi Pho, the seafood Pho, and the Somi Vermicelli noodles are excellent. Thank you to the owner Michael for taking such good care of us.

We ordered take out. The to go Pho bowls were a nice touch, but my noodles really stuck in the bottom of the bowl and it was a struggle to get them mixed in to the rest of the ingredients. They forgot the sprouts and basil and limes that gov in the PHO on one of our orders. The broth needed salt. There was no seasoning in the broth that I could taste. The spicy lemongrass beef noodle soup was supposed to be spicy as was the Orange chicken we ordered, but neither was spicy and soup needed salt again. The texture on the orange chicken was better than let's say something frozen from Costco, but again not spicy and the sauce was too reduced. At $14 for a very basic orange chicken they need to do better. The spring Rolls were delicious and the dipping sauce was good. The house made pickled vegetables were a nice surprise. Three soups an Orange Chicken and spring rolls was $52, I knew the pricing going in, but the quality wasn't there for cost. If all the seasoning was done right and the sauce was the way it is supposed to be I would be looking to pay about $42 for the portion size they offer. Too many other noodle houses in the area to pay that much for the amount and quality. The place is new and maybe they will improve. They will need to step it up and maybe reduce the price.

Came in tonight with my father. He comes here every Friday and just loves this place. Tonight was his birthday and my husband and I accompanied him for dinner. The food was fantastic! The service was even better. They all knew him by his name and even brought him dessert. As a daughter who works in the restaurant business, it’s comforting knowing my dad is taken care of every time he comes here. He loves that the owners are so involved and kind. I want to thank you and tell the world how amazing this place is.

I very much enjoy Somi! I've eaten there several times and enjoyed each dish I have tried. Today I had a seafood Pho, which was delicious.

The broth flavor is off the charts good and the service was amazing. Don’t miss out on this amazing bowl of pho.

This is a bright & cheerful little Vietnamese Bistro! The service was great, waiters were very friendly & attentive, and the food was top notch!! Very fresh and flavourful food and plenty of it! The owner even paid us a visit which was an added bonus. I will definitely be back again to try another delicious item off the menu and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere.:)

It was a cute little place with amazing food and great service. If only I lived closer I would be a regular :). Keep up the great work!

First time at Somi tonight and we thought it was great. The food tasted so good! I had the vegetarian vermicelli and the flavors were fantastic. The staff was very friendly and really wanted to make sure we had a good experience. I highly recommend going. We will definitely be back.

I can eat almost anything and enjoy it. Yet at the same time I am very critical of restaurants when I go out. I have been working in restaurants for over fifteen years and cook on my own as well. Because of that I think I am qualified to say that SOMI is doing it right. The service was welcoming and spot on. The food was amazing it was cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. The owner Micheal is charming and attentive. There are very few restaurants I have ever been to that hit all the marks. This is sure to be salt lakes newest Go to restaurant for excellent Asian cuisine!!
