We loved our visit to the Friendly Spot Ice House, we at first had no idea what an ice house was but they have a sign up explaining it all. With over 200 brews to choose from we needed some help and the bar staff knew exactly what they were talk'in about. The open air seating with massive projector screen up in the trees playing a game of some sort was the perfect way to watch the sun go down and enjoy the surroundings.
Its a great place to come if you want a change from the Riverwalk and downtown area, grab a bite to eat and soak up the San Antonio sun.

Enjoy coming here to have a few beers and hangout with my friends. They have a very large assortment to choose from and they usually have some sort of special going on. It's a very kid friendly place!
Cool place. Completely outdoors. Pet and kid friendly bar with Spurs games - or march madness tonight - on a huge inflatable screen. Eclectic mix of drink options with an educated bar tender to help you find what you'd like. There is a limited food menu but can't comment on that.

Mouth Watering Lamb Sliders. Come for the great beer selection, stay for the lamb sliders! Great kids play area...needs more lighting in the evening. Love this place, can't wait to try everything on the menu.
Tasty Food...Mediocre Service. We stopped by early on a Wednesday before a Spurs playoff game. Beer selection was nice and the food was excellent. It was pleasant outside with a big screen to watch the game. We shared a few appetizers with friends. They need to fix the way people get their food. I didn't like having to get up from my seat every 3 minutes to see if my # was blinking on the little display under the awning at the end of the bar. If you don't keep checking, then your food just sits on the bar underneath clear covers until you retrieve it. It's your loss if you forget to keep checking, then get your food luke warm.
Early on a First Friday. We were very fortunate to hit this place, early, on a beautiful day and on the first Friday!. First Friday, this area of town tries to turn into a little 6th street environment with lot's of characters walking around, table displays of "art", and a couple of "chanting" bands or religious group. We had front row seats, some adult beverages, and some excellent guacamole dip with homemade chips. It is a fun place to hang.
GREAT beer selection, prices are great, dog friendly and an all around great place to relax and drink with friends.

Great beer selection...decent drinking food.. The Friendly Spot is a mainly outdoors bar and grill restaurant. Prepare to stop on pebbles as you walk towards the bar where you can order your food and drinks. To your immediate right is a playground for your children. For those of you that have children...shame on you if you are drinking while your child plays. All kidding aside, there is an additional bar behind the main front bar as well as on crowded nights the back house opens up where an additional bar station is. Spurs games and other events are shown on the projector. I found the beer selection very diverse. The bartenders will willingly make beer recommendations if you like. Just make sure to ask what their preferences are. On one ocassion I tried the triple black bean chipotle burger. For bar food it was decent. The black bean was prevalent while the chipotle was certainly not. The bun was nothing to be desired. Overall it was decent. I have tried the brisket tacos from there in the past and it was....just ok. A bit dry for me. I would avoid this place like the plague on crowded First Fridays unless you just like crowds. My wife has complained about the restroom situation for women. Apparently there are not enough restrooms for women when the joint gets packed. Ordering at the bar can be a challenge as well when this place is packed despite all three drink stations open. This place is outdoors so when it is 100 degrees plus in San Antonio, avoid this place unless you really like the heat.

The coolest hang out, a rare gem in SA. Picked up a SA Magazine and saw the Friendly Spot got several nods. A couple days later after hitting up a Spurs game, we decided to try the Friendly Spot late. It was the coolest. There is no other place like it. The bar guy knew so much about beer, gave us suggestions and even let us try a couple before we finally picked. It was 11:30pm and the food was so good and cheap. I just can't say enough. I later learned the guy at the bar ran the place, he was really cool. The only improvement I would suggest is that they update the website and post a beer and food menu.
Ice House, Ice House, how about awesome food. The beer selection is great, but I go for the food at least once a week. The ceviche is great, the empanada's and chorizo/sweet potato tacos are too and it is very affordable.

Fantastic Food, Great Beer Selection. The Friendly Spot is the perfect place to relax with your family. The food is fantastic- fresh interior Mexican cuisine cooked to order. Everything we've ever tried has been delicious. The beer selection is amazing- there's always something new and different to try. Love the kid-friendly atmosphere- they have a swing/slide for the kids to play on that's fenced in within the yard. My only complaint is the crushed gravel within the kiddy area means that on an average Friday night, there will be at least one kid with some kind of a cut. Other than that it is absolutely the best place to relax, catch up with the neighbors and let the kids run around.
Friendly Indeed. In the same league as The Cove and La Tuna. Great beer selection and ambiance but with great food as well. I sampled nearly everything on the menu, (Everything is sevred in convenient small bites like Tapas), and there wasn't a miss in the bunch. The Mole Tamales in Bananna Leaves and Blue Crab Quesadia's were stand outs.

Best Beer selection & cool hangout. This place has the best beer selection in town with great prices. Met Steve behind the bar and tried so many new types of beer. We will definately be going back to the Friendly Spot very soon for drinks again. The place also has a great back room with darts or outdoor patio.
One of my favorite places to grab a beer, The Friendly Spot is absolutely every bit as friendly as its name suggets. This outdoor ice house offers over 180 beers (24 on tap), cider, wine, sangria, micheladas, AND things to nosh, including burgers, tamales, nachos, guac and chips and quesadillas
This is a super fun place! Most of it is outside but there is a part thats indoors in the back! It doesn't look that big but when you go to the back to use the restroom it opens up to another bar and multiple seating areas. Bathrooms were a bit dirty. It started to rain when we were there so we went to hang out in the indoor area and it was just as cool as the outside. Bartender was super cool. Food was good for bar food. Atmosphere was the best! Big projection tv for games. Great prices.
Nice spot to sit outside and enjoy food and drinks during a sunny afternoon and/or relaxed evening. Good choice of craft beers on tap. Vegan and fish tacos were really good. Had a small issue with credit card payment, however, after a short email, everything was corrected quickly. Rest rooms were a little dirty.
Pretty fun spot. Loved all the chip and dip options. Nice beer selection. Easy to order through the app. And food came out pretty quick. Fish tacos were good, though not superb. The atmosphere is unique and fun, though it felt a little rundown. Overall, we’d definitely return. It was an enjoyable meal and drinks.
First time visit, really nice lots of space giant screen TV, large bar front and back friendly bar keep, nachos were good but plenty of choices off the menu, check it out

Super chill spot to hang watch the game outside and have nachos and drink beer. The TV is so vibrant even during the day, you won’t miss a thing. There are plenty of beer choices and the staff is super chill and friendly, lives up to the name. Love this place.

TONS of seating. Was impressed with the different areas all around, really special place. Takes you away from life, they’ve done a great job creating the atmosphere. If it’s too hot you can sit inside or find a place with shade.
Great place and great food plus service. It's kid friendly, which is a big plus for me. Food is good and not bad on the price. Drinks are always on point. Highly recommend this awesome atmosphere to my friends and family.
Great atmosphere! Quite a Variety of beers and specialty drinks to choose from. Food is delicious. I recommend the chicken ranch nachos. They have a Small playground for the kiddos. Leashed Pets are welcomed
Great laid-back ice house with lots of room to spread out, very good draft beer options, and what seemed like expansive other draft options (cocktails, spirits, ciders, etc.), although I didn't sample those. We attended a Friday night pre-wedding party for about 50, and it was perfect for that event.
