Rudys is a good quick bbq joint that doesn’t disappoint.
The marbled meat is always juicy and ends are burnt correctly. If you prefer lean that’ll also be moist and not dried out like most places the city.
The sausage is seasoned well but the casing is a little tough to chew through as a half link so I recommend you cut it into smaller pieces, especially if you plan on putting it in bread.
The creamed corn here is amazing, not super sweet but just enough.
For dessert definitely try some of their peach cobbler. The peaches are super soft and the breading is chewy, but not soggy.

Rudy’s is an experience. The brisket and pretty much all the meats are amazing, as are the sides and deserts. When we moved away from San Antonio, we missed going here, so whenever we’re back in town, Rudy’s is top on the list!
I love Rudy's. Great experience for me. My Air Force graduate friend from Jersey said that their chicken isn't seasoned. I liked it, but I guess the East side likes more flavor? He does and I was trying to impress him by taking him here. He wasn't impressed... unfortunately, so I guess season it more? 5 stars for me! Also, they only have brown paper bags if you want to take some to go and they only serve food on these sub sandwich type of wrapping so it was weird crumpling food up in a wrapper then putting it in a paper bag...

Been eating at this Rudy's for over ten years and never had one bad experience. Attention tourists: you stand in line to get your food and then seat yourself and clean up after yourself. Lately the food has been perfect. We always get it to-go so that we can add a veggie to the meal at home. I die for Rudy's leftovers - literally the best leftovers ever. There's outdoor and indoor seating. There's limited parking in front of the restaurant near the gas pumps, but we always park in the back. Any time we have a question, the employees are great about helping us. I personally love the cream corn, potato salad, brisket, and chopped. My husband loves the turkey and chopped. It's a rare instance when we get dry meat. The majority of the time, the food is moist (in a good way) and tastes amazing. There's a trough of beer in ice at the counter where you order. We avoid busy times/days because this location can get nuts. Rudy's is a San Antonio staple, and we always bring visitors to taste the best bbq in the city. I never use the bbq sauce but I've heard it's good.
Last time I went to Rudy's was back in 2010. Back then the place was more lively and the store portion of the restaurant was an actual store. Today, not so much. The place still is lively but the store is no longer a store.
As for the food: the chicken and brisket were good and very tender. The pork rib was a wee bit dry and the sausage was good. As for the sides: cream corn, the potato salad and the beans were great.
We had an excellent time at Rudy’s! I enjoy a good BBQ place and Rudy’s did not disappoint!
We stopped in for dinner after a long day at the water park. We got a family of four meal and enjoyed it! We didn’t realize that the meal came with drinks, so that was a nice surprise addition! I loved the bbq sauce! It had a nice sweet, spicy flavor that goes well with the smoked meats. My daughters thought the sauce was too spicy though.
The beans were lacking I felt. They were very soupy, and didn’t have the flavor that I was hoping for.
The peach cobbler was fantastic though and I really loved it!
The ambiance of the restaurant is fun. You sit at picnic tables that you’re sharing with everyone. The staff was very friendly and fun to be around.
I’d be back for more, for sure!
A good experience overall. I’ll definitely go back, the staff was kind and food alright. Brisket was unfortunately dry and our order got pretty messed up but it happens. I highly recommend the peach cobbler and shredded meat.
The only issue is with the brisket not having flavor in the bark. Everything else... No complaints. Food was hot and fresh. Employees were friendly. Location was kept clean.
I ordered online. The 1/2 chicken was delicious as well as the creamed corn. I ordered the peach cobbler as well. My only complaint is the parking. As someone who uses a cane to get around, I find it difficult to park near the front so that I can just walk in and get my order.
Rudy's is my favorite BBQ restaurant in Texas. I love the Brisket 😋
Moist and succulent. Lol I usually order it along with the creme corn, and potato salad. Oh and the peach cobbler is great too. Not too sweet and you can taste the peaches. Other items that are worth trying are the beans and smoke Turkey 🦃. The atmosphere is a country store. It as good as country stores go I guess. 😏Enjoy the offerings there.... The End 🤗
