Great place to dine with plenty of options. The BBQ shrimp is out of this world which melts in you mouth surrounded by tasty bacon and sauce. You also get a side if you get the shrimp trio. The good news is this place won't break your wallet!
We had the fried mushrooms for an appetizer which were phenomenal! The rib eye steak was cooked to my liking and was good. The fries were on the cold side but were OK. It did take a long time to have our main course come out and that is about the only thing that was negative. I will return.
A steak lovers paradise
I found this little chain steak house when I moved here 5 years ago. It is the best steak I've found in a restaurant. The place is always clean, the food is always excellent, and their serving team is awesome. If you haven't tried it you are missing out
Good service
Our group received great service during our visit. The group really enjoyed the mushroom appetizer. The pats ribeye that I had seemed especially fatty. I did add the BBQ shrimp. That was a unusual taste that I enjoyed. It was shrimp wrapped in bacon filled with cream cheese and jalapeno. The tortilla soup was good too.
Service was a little slow to get drink order. The rest of the service was ok. The steaks are really good. Worth a visit. The restaurant was not very busy, however each group that was seated, were seated next to our table. When there were plenty of empty tables to give each group a little space.
Our waiter was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was just great on the river walk. The 10-hr cooked prime rib was highly recommended and I was glad I ordered it. A very pleasant dining experience indeed.
This Prime Rib and the Ribeye are two of my favorites at Saltgrass. The steaks are tender and come at a decent price too. Their drinks are decent too.

Food pretty good, what you would expect from a Saltgrass. Seated near kitchen and there was a funky smell in that area. Seating situation was disorganized as there has been a meeting and no hostesses were manning the desk. Overall though, good experience.
We had dinner here the day before yesterday while visiting the Riverwalk.
I have to say, the steaks were as good as I've ever had in a restaurant. The whole table really enjoyed their meals - ribs, kabobs and streaks were all excellent.
The atmosphere was also enjoyable (as with most of the Riverwalk restaurants). Staff was very pleasant and friendly despite the huge crowds in the area for the holiday weekend.
Price wise our visit was very good value - $160 or so tip and bar in for 5, which was a bargain considering the quality of food and service. I love this place.

Great food, Great Service. After a disappointing dinner at Cafe Ole, my expectations of the river walk was happily fulfilled with the taste of great food and awesome service at Saltgrass Steakhouse. I would recommend this to anyone who is visiting the river walk, mind you, prices is not that very friendly in this area.

Wonderful meal. Wife and I were in SA and wanted to do a steakhouse in the area of the River Walk and not too awful expensive. Happened across some good reviews and only $$$ so we called and made a reservation on Sunday evening at 6:30 with no problems. Arrived early just after 6pm and were seated almost immediately just inside as the water side balcony appeared full and we were already baked from a day of outside touring. They seated us near an exterior doorway with a good view of the outside and some A/C which was nice. "Alice" greeted us promptly with menus in hand. We ordered drinks and the Crab Stack appetizer which was amazingly delicious and more than enough for two people. The beer bread was very good with the honey butter. I had the "special" smothered 9oz sirloin which included 4 grilled shrimp, a baked sweet potato and side salad with catalina french and my wife had the 6oz filet with a baked potato and side salad with ranch. Both steaks were cooked to order medium rare and medium respectively. The smothered sirloin was a blend of onion, mushroom and what appeared to be a smidgen of fresh garlic. Both were very tender and delicious. I remarked that it was good to find a potato that was actually cooked thoroughly consistent through out the entire potato and the skin from the sweet potato literally fell off as I ran my fork thru it. With tip, two cocktails and a glass of wine the total come to $127 which is about what I expected for the two of us. All in all the dinner, location, atmosphere and wait staff was great.
Waitress was wonderful. Food was outstanding. Can't wait to go back. A lil pricey though.
Fantastic! Steak tips were amazing. Also got carrot cake, the best. Great location and views, service was wonderful. I can't say enough about how great our visit was!
Fantastic Steakhouse. Whenever I am in Texas... this is the Steakhouse to go. usually go to the Plano location. prizes here are about 3$ more for the Maudeens filet. but that is due to the nice setting along the Riverwalk, which is fine.

Loved it! Me n my boyfriend were seated in the tables outside which we preffered bc it looked crowded inside. Our waiter was quick and attentive to us. Another server brought out our food n as she was putting the food down a shrimp slipped off the plate. Management brought us out a complimentary full order of shrimp. Food was awesome! So full of flavor. Will definitely return

Great food. Right on the riverwalk. Fried dill pickle chips are delicious. They are slightly spicy. Good salads with great dressing. My filet was cooked perfectly rare. The garlic mashed was a bit dry. The shrimp stuffed with crab meat were phenomenal. Had good sweet tea.
Service & food were great! My husband had what he said was the best steak he had ever eaten, I had the chicken fried steak which was really good (but huge!), & our kids had chicken tenders which they said were very good. We'll go back.
Great steak!. I've paid a lot more for a steak that was far less memorable. I had a rib eye with a baked sweet potato side.
The bar was slow, but good service from our waiter kept us assured we hadn't been forgotten. When our drinks did arrive they were worth the wait.
Speed up the bar, but don't change the food! If you want to walk away stuffed full of cow, you can't do much better!
Great Steaks on the Riverwalk. This place can get crowded, mainly because the tables are so close together, but the food is great. I went all out and had the Silver Star Porterhouse with a baked sweet potato. It was outstanding. Other items we enjoyed were the ribs and salmon. The bread is good, the beer is cold, and the lemonade was quite tasty.
What can I say, we've only been in San Antonio for 7 days and have eaten here twice. This is one of the few places we eat steak because most places don't stand up to what we can do at home. Once again the did a fine job with my porterhouse. Very satisfied with the food and service.

Wonderful food, and decent service. We make sure to tell our waiter/waitress that we hope for good service and usually that makes them all rise to the occasion anyplace we go! The food is always top notch and hot when it comes out!
Okay, so Carami has mentioned this place enough that when arriving at the Riverwalk to eat, I declared that we must eat here. We opted for a ribeye with a side of Mac and cheese for myself, and my girlfriend went for a buffalo chicken salad which is a custom order upon request. Before this we ordered a half order of cheese fries, and enjoyed the superb Shiner Bock Bread. One thing I can say is the whole meal was excellent but they have a very tasty buffalo sauce. Not too vinegar like in taste, just good spicy flavor. bravo!
Unfortunately we couldn't get a table outside on the river, so had to sit inside. Got the Pickles & Peppers for an appetizer which were good. I got Potato Soup and Ceaser salad. The soup was very rich but good. The Salad was just ok. My husband got a side salad with the 12oz Ribeye. He said it was very grisly. Service however was good. Our waitress was Jessica and she was great.

When you order take it into consideration that a big green salad is included in the price of the steaks and is coming on the side. Portions are huge.
I am very sure all steaks are excellent. As far as I can remember I had a Ribeye medium rare, which was excellent.

We were seated within 20 minutes on a Saturday night. We sat on the river side of the outer balcony. The bar drinks were good, the salads were great and the fillet steaks were delicious. One was overcooked and was comped with no discussion. The steaks were a good cut. The chocolate dessert cake was too large a portion and was a bit dry. Overall it was a nice experience.
We went on a Saturday evening, an hour wait (typical, especially on the Riverwalk) we did have a no wait option if we wanted to eat outside but it was too hot out yesterday so we waited. When we were seated we were given our drinks fast and our complimentary bread and honey butter, so good! We ordered cheese fries as an appetizer and they were so good! It’s a lot, good for at least 4 people! We then ordered our main food, our steaks were cooked perfectly how we wanted, the right amount of time before each course. We’ve been a few times and I actually remembered to take pictures of my food this time! Thinking of signing up for the rewards program! Seems like a great deal!

Great food, the server kept forgetting a couple things and we waited long from a refill because she didn't really come back as much. The atmosphere was a little loud but a game was on so I guess that was all the hype. Its right by the river so we will definitely be back again to test out the outdoor area...
I bought my dog a sirloin and I got myself a Ribeye and a Texas Tea 😁 service was awesome, very helpful and friendly server. The steak was absolutely amazing! A bit pricey but most good things are.

Such a great night here, lovely evening meal and drinks and the service by John was amazing. Highly recommend a visit if travelling to the River Walk in San Antonio.
Great location by the river. Food could’ve been a bit too salty if I didn’t ask for low sodium/no sodium. We came in as a group of 6 at around 6pm on a Sunday and there was no wait. I liked the pineapple cocktail tho. Oh I do need to mention that their bread was awesome!
***MILITARY DISCOUNT*** DELICIOUS 😋 The salmon was on point. Moist, well seasoned and flaky. The burgers we nicely sized with overflow of condiments or toppings. Oil ion rings were thin and stringy, YUMMY! The chicken fried steak was HUGE! Shrimp Duo was so good. The shrimps were jumbo shrimp, and the greens beans were an unexpected delight.
The staff were friendly and fast. GREAT VIEW OF THE RIVER WALK if you are willing to wait. Don't feed the birds, and you won't have a hard time with them flying around your table.
You are paying mainly for location at this Saltgrass. My t-bone steak was good, not great. The staff was cordial, but not real friendly or attentive.
I went on a Sunday later afternoon, so it wasn't so busy and the wait time was a few minutes. I tried going also on a Saturday night around 6pm, and the wait time was over 1 1/2 hours. So I ended up going to a different restaurant with a much more shorter wait time.
Overall my experience with this location was 4 stars, and I would definitely go again on a slow day where the wait time is less than 20 mins.
Decided to take a little vacation to San Antonio. We decided to give this place a try and it was great! The ambience of this place wass amazing. The service was as great as the food. We definitely will be back. Thank you all for a great experience!!!
My, my, my…. This was a beautiful setting I will never forget! The food was delicious, I had the steak, broccoli and rice. The bread was good. The view was breathtaking, we ate outside! Our waitress was friendly and attentive.
This Restaurant offers patio seating while eating your meal overlooking the Riverwalk. I searched through many menus looking for gluten and corn free options, and Salt grass Steakhouse offers exactly that. The food was delicious, and the views were beautiful. The service was excellent.
Delicious! Be careful 'cause portions are huge. Most of the menu includes 2 big sides. We were a party of 5 and took out 2 whole plates. Never dissapointed in this place.

Restaurant was a little busy but so was the river walk so I guess it was too be expected. Wasn’t any wait time to sit at the bar. Football game was on so I was entertained until my food came out. The salad came quick and was good. Shortly after my steak and potatoes came. I ordered mash potatoes but baked potatoes came out. No big deal because the bartender corrected it immediately. Overall the food was good, restaurant was clean and I eat there again if I’m in town.
Went here for an early dinner and to take advantage of the happy hour. Everything we had was pretty good. We had the fried mushrooms, fried pickles and peppers, and stuffed jalapenos. For the main dish, I had the NY strip and it was cooked close to my desire. I asked for medium and it was closer to medium rare, but still had a good flavor. Our waitress was great, and the view was awesome.
