They have 25 to 30 sandwiches to choose from, Pizza, soup and salads. I had the oven roasted pulled pork sandwich with melted cheddar and spicy chipotle pepper sauce. I like spicy, but it was a little too much sauce. However it was still a good sandwich. The place does a slamming business. The only negative I have is that the street parking is bad.

Fantastic! Came at lunch and it was busy. Staff was friendly and efficient. Meat and bread were delicious. This is a must if you're looking for a good sandwich.

Finally, my partner and I had the time and were in the area so we decided to experience The Station Cafe. This is a really decent lunch locale.
Menu items were varied and reasonably priced. My partner chose the Habanero Roast Beef (roast beef, provolone cheese, and garlic habanero, with lettuce and tomato). I chose the Station Club Sandwich (cheddar and provolone cheese on turkey and ham, with lettuce, tomato and mayo). Both sandwiches were good and served quickly. I like their homemade toasted sandwich rolls.
Impressed. The menu has many interesting items that should encourage mulitple visits. The Turkey Chupacabra sandwich is the item I ordered and it was great, with the highlights being the freshly baked roll and the sweet & spicy sauce.
Nice people. Great sandwiches. Fantastic prices. Absolutely charmless restaurant. I only get 'to go' because the place is kinda creepy.
My FAV. new hot sandwich spot~. Deceitfully looks small from the outside when you enter the cafe it is very spacious w/ Hipster paintings. I had the Hot Turkey & Pastrami W/ Horseradish Sandwich & my husband had a Hot Station Club Sandwich which has Cheddar and Provolone cheeses w/ turkey, ham, lettuce, tomato and mayo. Both sandwiches were delicious but the Hot Station Club was awesome & will probably be my regular order item whenever I go. The sandwiches are very reasonably priced. We were early beating the lunch crowd but boy did it fill up quickly & became extremely busy, displaying it's popularity. I also enjoyed the blended Hibiscus & Peppermint Tea which came unsweetened.
Beautiful! Garlic Roast Beef! I was going to save half of it for lunch tomorrow, but darn, I forgot to ask them to cut it in half... Very savory and compelling, and it's one of those sandwiches that you can't put down once you start. Nice place, even if a little slow in the early evening.
Wow. That was good, like really good. I was not expecting much and was completely taken by surprise with how much flavor both my sandwich and my soup had. I'm definitely going back!

Tried this little gem out last night around 6pm. The place was deserted so I had my reservations but I worked through them and ate there anyway….I am sooo glad I did. OOOOEEEE talk about flavor! I ordered the veggie burger with cheddar and chipotle sauce and it was like a party in my mouth AND I was invited!!! My partner had the garlic roast beef so we halfsies…. and let me tell you it was equally as delicious! To drink I had the Chai Tea and it was the BEST I’ve ever tasted (I highly recommend that you try it). After dinner we took a walk around the neighborhood… through the shady sidewalks (very romantic) and checked out all the huge houses in the area. All in all…great food good service and in a beautiful historic neighborhood who can ask for anything more…5*! Enjoy
New Location Is Great!. What's not to love? Same great sandwiches now served inside of an air conditioned building! I had their new muffaletta sandwich on my first visit to their new location, and I'm now convinced that they can do no wrong with anything they make. Can't wait for The Filling Station Brewing Co. to open up in the old location next door!!!

Addictive. My job allows me to travel the US, and I eat food in every state. I found that with sandwich shops, it's hard to fail, although to stand out it's even harder. I was in San Antonio for a week, and ended up eating here about 15 times, sometimes twice a day. My co-workers did the same. The sandwiches are amazing as FOOD, not just sandwiches. The sauces are amazing, and the bread and veggies are so very fresh. Six months later and we still talk about this place. Top of the list for me and a couple of others as far as places we've eaten across the US.
Edit: My co-workers and I talk about this place year round as we only get a one week window in the year to eat here (for about 5 or 6 years now). We eat here ever day that we can during that week, sometimes twice a day! Consistently amazing!!
A Great Spot to Eat!. I work nearby and try to eat here as often as I can. The owner and his wife know all the customers by name and are great. They have a nice variety of very tasty sandwiches (personal favorites are the Pulled Pork with Cheddar and Chipotle Sauce and the Habanero Roast Beef), the bread is baked daily, and the chocolate cake is FANTASTIC. The restaurant is a bit small, so sometimes you end up eating outside. Highly recommended!
Very addictive ! Great bread... Great price.. I've tried the jalapeño turkey, that was the perfect amount of heat.. Turkey pesto is very nice.. All the sauces are very good.. Pies are great! A must for a fast but healthy, good and inexpensive meal.
The pulled pork is amazing! It's my favorite. Everything I have tried has been fresh and very flavorful.
Unassuming and awesome. Passed by the place a hundred times and finally stopped by with a coworker. We we both enjoyed it. It doesn't look like much on the outside but that is deceptive.They have a full but not sprawling selection of sandwiches, soups, and pizzas, including numerous vegetarian options. The veggie sandwich with hummus and squash was great, as was the creamy poblano soup. I went for lunch, but they had an interesting selection of bottled beer as well.
Wow!. The first sandwich I tried was the Garlic Roast Beef. I have to say it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted. I actually cannot remember a better one. If you don't like this sandwich, there is something wrong with you.
I adore this place. It's a Goddamn miracle that such an extraordinarily wonderful eatery should pitch it's tent in the sea of lameness which is San Antonio. I am from San Francisco, a city not lacking for well done neighborhood restaurants. None of which come close to achieving the level of excellence consistently achieved by Jon and his Crew at The Station. Their pizzas are quite good, but it's their fantastic hot sandwiches (each under $6!) which draw me there 3 to 4 times each week. As other reviewers have noted, Stacy's pies are also without peer.
Utterly Phenomenal. On my visit to San Antonio from New Orleans, I was told there are very few decent places to eat here. When a friend suggested this place, I was a hesitant, but decided to tag along to try it out.
This place is the exact reason I will take my chance with a "hole in the wall" eatery over a chain restaurant any day of the week. I absolutely LOVED this place. Everything was made from scratch, including their delightful Coconut Cream Pie. Staff members were candid and conversational, service was quick and efficient, the atmosphere was cozy and certainly had a local-business feel, and the food... oh man, the food was sinfully good.
I have been telling anyone and everyone about this place-- I'm surprised The Filling Station isn't more well known, considering their spectacular price for such great food!
5 stars on all accounts. Wish I had time to go back for one last sandwich. This place would make a killing in New Orleans.
SUPER Veggie Sandwich!!. We have not had a chance to get back down to this Southtown gem in a few months, and I'm really jonesing for the veggie sandwich. It is one of the best in the city, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg; the rest of the menu offerings are just as great. The proprietors are also some of the most personable and friendly people. They always remember their frequent diners and provide top notch service and food. Mind you, they do it all themselves. Unlike some, to remain anonymous, tea house down the road, they bake all their own excellent desserts. Our only complaint would be that the banana cream pie doesn't make frequent enough appearances in the display case!! ;)
Just there. This place is amazing, the special Chubacabre sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had and the pizza slice my girlfriend had was also tasty. Great place for lunch or after work

Excellent Pizza. I love the pizzas- everyone we know loves the sandwiches but I can't break away from the pizza. The crust is perfect- not to thick, not too thin. The sauce is also really good -occasionally a little heavy on the thyme but usually it's fantastic. The large pizza is HUGE- my family of three splits a medium quite comfortably- and we always get one greek salad and one regular salad. Get the ranch dressing- it's so yummy.
Great Food....BUT..... The food at the Filling Station is nothing less than great! Unfortunately, it's like too many other restaurants in this neighborhood: ALWAYS CLOSED. Nearly all the restaurants in Southtown are closed on Sunday, but this one is closed both Saturdays and Sundays! If it weren't for the nice people who run this place and the excellent food, this place would probably suffer the same fate of most Southtown eateries because they seem to have an aversion to being open.
Sanwiches, desserts and more!. THE BEST SANDWICHES ON EARTH! And carrot cake? Don't get me started.

I just ate the most delicious vegan patty for lunch! Definitely NOT a boring sprouts stuck between two pieces of bread because I can't fathom what vegetarians really eat type sandwich. And it was so refreshing to find a casual cafe for lunch that offers creative vegetarian options. Notice that "s"? Yes, there were several options from which I could choose!
Came here while visiting from Dallas. Found it on Reddit while looking for non touristy places to eat. It opened at 11, we showed up just after and within 10 minutes after ordering the line was to the door. The food was amazing. You can tell everything is made from scratch. The vegan burger was one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had. The sides and drinks (hibiscus mint tea) were also delicious. I would have come back for dinner if we weren’t leaving the same day. I can’t wait to come back to San Antonio, this place will be on the top of my list.
Great sandwiches and a cool vibe. Tried the Italian which was really good. Fresh ingredients and lots of flavor. Pizza was just ok, IMO. Not bad at all, but not the star of the show. Looking forward to making my way through the menu.
Nice cozy place. The staff are friendly and helpful. I had a veggie cheese burger it was okay. Not a bad price for it. I will be back and try other items on the menu. I just wished they had French fries. That's one my weakness. I would suggest to try this restaurant out. Oh, BTW I added the mayonnaise on the burger. I'm a mayonnaise freak.
I have been here so many times and I always leave full and satisfied. The lunch does get busy but it is worth it. My favorite will always be the vegan sandwich. I'm not a vegan but damn it's so good! I had the meatball, parmesan, pulled pork, and white Buffalo beef sandwiches and ALL have been DELICIOUS! The pizza is good too but it doesn't out beat the sandwiches. The places is a decent size and the chips are separate and so are the drinks. Overall it's a really good sandwich cafe.
1st timer and I will forever come back! I got a pepperoni pizza and a turkey jalapeños sub! I thought firehouse sub was this bomb but this place knocks it out the ball in a heart beat! ❤️ The service is amazing all employees were working hard and always moving cleaning and assisting customers. Hands down the best sub and service I have had in a good while!! Keep up the good work you guys are amazing and I can't wait to bring my friends and family here. Food is amazing and delicious 😋

Came here with my friend Sarah for lunch. Good price for what you get. Staff all pleasant and polite. Got a jalapeno roast beef - rated as two 🌶️ on their menu but wasn't really all that spicy, still tasty though. Maybe I'll try the habanero next time. All their sandwiches have mozzarella as the cheese, which is an interesting choice. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the courthouses downtown.
At the recommendation of a cafe owner we ended up here for lunch. It was packed and we can see why. The hand-held menu makes this a great spot for the 30-minute lunch break crowd.
We had the San Antonio Cheese Steak, Vegan Burger and chipotle potato salad.
Everything was perfect and really a delicious last meal before a flight home.
Small Cafe with good tasty sandwiches. Service is faster than at a national sandwich chain! I think they bake their bread in-house. The cute cat mural and other paintings are quirky yet admirable. Street parking, but easy to get a spot. It's kind of in a quiet neighborhood. It was recommended to us by the front desk at the nearby Hyatt Place. Great recommendation.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! The sandwich’s are always full of meat and huge. The flavor combos are perfect, the service is quick, and the soup of the day always hits.
Only thing to note is if you sit on the left side of the building the tables are slightly tilting so it makes you feel like you are off center so sit in the middle dinning area.
