We couldn't find a place to eat that night since we were tourists and were not familiar with the place. This place was just beside our hotel so we gave it a try. The ambience is nice and the place is cozy. I ordered baked salmon and that was the best salmon I have tasted so far. You can never go wrong with Bob's!
I will start by saying there isn't a single thing that could have been improved upon! This was our first visit to Bob's but certainly not the last.
When I made reservation on line I requested a nice quiet table for 2 as we would be celebrating our anniversary. When we arrived there was a card signed by all the staff and a chilled split of champagne at our table.
Dinner was outstanding as was the service.we both enjoyed perfectly prepared filets as an entree one with smashed potatoes and one with fried potatoes. The creamed spinach was also very good. For appetizers we ordered crab cake and a tomato, onion, blue cheese salad - all very tasty.
No room for dessert!
If you are thinking of making a visit to Bob's I urge you to go - it was a wonderful dinner.
We went to Bob's early this week. The place is very nicely appointed and properly lit, not too bright or gloomy. Our booth was clean and comfortable. Our waiter was friendly but did not hover over us or talk too much as is the case at a few local steakhouse eateries we have dined at. So far so good. We had the calamari for starters, it arrived within 10 min and was very good, however the sauce a bit generic. Our rib eye steaks with baked potatoe and carrot arrived about 15 min later, perfect timing. The sweet carrot was surprisingly delicious as was the baked potato. ..the steak was flavorful and a bit over cooked and could have used some salt and pepper, seasoning as well but overall a very good steak. I had the 18oz and my wife the 14 oz. Between the appetizer, two cocktails, and HUGE peanut butter brownie dessert ( it really was enough for 3 possibly 4 people) and the steaks the tally came to around 160.00 USD. I would suggest Bob's to friends or family looking for an upscale place to have a bite.
My expierience. Food was great steak maybe cooked a little more overall was worth it.
Ate here tonight for our anniversary (suggested by a friend) and we were a bit wary due to mixed reviews. We have been underwhelmed by other steakhouses in the SA area. I booked online (made a comment requesting a quiet table) and we had a nice corner booth with a 'happy anniversary' card signed by the staff & complimentary champagne - very thoughtful. The bread was good, but the homemade pickles may not have pickled long enough & tasted like veggies (but to each his own). I had the filet mignon & Mac/cheese & it was super yummy; my steak practically melted away. There's fancy bacon in the Mac & I plan to ask for extra next time. The 'signature' carrot was perfectly cooked & very tasty, but too big to finish. My hubby had shrimp & he said they were perfect & huge (I didn't try due to allergy). We had creme brûlée & it was good, but not stellar. I'd come again for the steak anytime & plan to talk hubby into the key lime pie...
Great Prime filet, superior sides and outstanding service. Bobs in SA does it right. A first-class steakhouse!
Had the same large prime rib eye at Ruth's Chris. Sorry to say Ruth's Chris steak was much more tender and melt in your mouth.
OMG the best steakhouse in San Antonio! Finally! This place is amazing we has the prime tbone and the ribeye with bone..drinks were great appetizers were amazing..calamari and seafood platter best fresh seafood! Dessert the peanut butter chocolate brownie tower can be shared with 4-6 people! Must go this is now my favorite restaurant!
There's a new king in town. Went there last Friday (the first weekend it was open). Fantastic steak-the best in town. Had the ribeye (bone in and bone out), and ordered some mac & cheese w/bacon and creamed spinach as sides. Service was great, and the restaurant maintains the classic feel of the original in Dallas.
They have different "rooms" where you can eat. The Golf room looked like a real winner, and we'll select that the next time we're there.
This place is pretty good. The atmosphere is nice, waitstaff is very attentive, drinks were good and my lamb and my husband's steaks were perfectly cooked and very tasty. The entrees come with a potato which is nice. We didn't try any of the other sides or dessert. I will say the glazed carrot that comes with everything is a little odd. I could do without that. Otherwise a very good experience and the fact that they are good right after opening gives me high hopes for this restaurant. We will be back.
Great place. I moved to The Woodlands in July from Frisco. Great place, so long Peary's, there's a new Sheriff in town.

San Antonio gets a Bob's. Bob’s Steak & Chop House which started in Dallas is coming to San Antonio to the Rim. This is a prime steakhouse which has a reputation for having the best steaks. To find out more, please visit their website.
Wonderful experience! We were celebrating and the whole staff could not have done a better job!! Food was fantastic, I highly recommend fried Lobster tail and the seared duck. The lobster bisque was to die for. And the waiter; excellent!! Thank you Josh for making our first time at Bob's an amazing experience!
The blackened snapper was delicious. Sweet surprise with the two jumbo shrimp on top. Flavor was there and the carrot and brocollini was on point.
Have never had a bad meal at Bobs and food is always so good 😊 If I don’t finish it Itake the leftovers home! Service is impeccable. It’s the kind of place where 3 or 4 servers deliver your meal and your drink is never empty. Delicious sides. Awesome steaks. Love the Chefs Specials!
We were married the day we attended and had a small celebration dinner here. Overall, it was a great experience. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is beautiful and the service was good. Compared to other fine dining establishments, such as Brennan's of Houston and Sullivans Steakhouse, the difference lies in the refined etiquette of the staff and the "above and beyond" factor. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, but the interaction was a bit underwhelming for a $1,300 dinner. The price matches the quality of the food, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in San Antonio. Pro tip, the Creme Brule Old Fashioned is an amazing cocktail, definitely a must try.
I recently visited Bob's for the first time with my wife and friends and had a great time. The service was some of the best we've had in a long time. Our server was very friendly and took the time to explain what some of the items on the menu were, and also made recommendations based on our likes. But that's not where it ends. When she learned it was my wife's birthday, she was sweet enough to surprise my wife with a delicious dessert.
The food was good, however our steaks were disappointing. They weren't marinated or seasoned, and while the natural flavors were good, we expected a little more considering their cost. However, they were cooked perfectly to our liking and came out in a reasonable amount of time. The big hit was the lamb appetizer, which my wife loved.
All in all, it was a great experience and we'll probably be back, just not for the steaks.
Excellent dining!!! Well worth the price and a visit.
My husband and I went to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. A friend suggested this restaurant and I'm so glad that we came to visit. Our server, Stephanie, is very knowledgeable, funny, and has great drink suggestions. The ambiance is great, the only fault I can probably say is maybe a tad dim (lighting) but don't let that stop you. The food was wonderful; appetizers and main courses. Dessert was really good also, we ended up bringing the carrot cake home because there was so much of it! Overall this place is awesome for special occasions. Go and check it out and ask for Stephanie. You will be glad you did.
Just a fabulous meal from beginning to end. Shrimp cocktail was superior, small filet the best ever, smashed potatoes hot and flavorful. Really good winelist but heavily California slanted. Service very attentive and helpful.
Royalty experience!!
We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary at this tremendous restaurant and my husband couldn’t have picked a better place..
The moment we walked in, they had a beautiful set up for us.. such a wonderful surprise. The service, the appetizers, entrees, and dessert was EXCELLENT!! ❤️
Our server Jay was perfect..
Thank you for making our special day one of the most memorable ones!
God bless everyone and thank you for the beautiful card🙏
We celebrated our 20th anniversary with a dinner at Bob's. We were pleasantly surprised with a table decorated with some rose petals and a card signed by all the staff. The food was excellent as was the service. Hat tip to Scott our server. We'll be back!
Took my wife here for a fancy dinner and really had a good time. Overall the steak was absolutely incredible which is what you would want from this type of restaurant. I got the bone in Tomahawk ribeye and my wife the two wagyu fillets with a lobster tail. They both were fantastic. The only gripe I have is that the other courses didn't quite live up to the steaks. We started with the fried calamari, I got a blue cheese salad, and then the peanut butter brownie for dessert. While they were all good I don't feel like any were something I couldn't get at a lower quality restaurant. We also got the lobster mac and cheese side which was good but I felt drastically over priced at $35.
This was our first time and it was hands down the best! The service and food was outstanding. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and they had a beautiful setup prior to us arriving along with complimentary wine. The steak was cooked to perfection, the lobster was fantastic. So glad we chose to come here, definitely coming back.
Food and service were amazing. Drink recommendations and knowledge of the menu by the waitstaff was wonderful. Steaks cooked to perfection. Crème brûlée was perfect. Champagne vinaigrette alone is a reason to get a side salad for yourself or to share. Best scallops I’ve eaten in a long time. Menu is traditional in many ways for the entrées and desserts but completely inventive at the bar and for appetizers; all of it exceptional. Can’t wait to share my experience with others and invite more people out. This was a first visit for me and my date but will not be a last. The experience and ambiance was just as magical as the food.
One of the finest dining experience I have had in San Antonio will be Bob’s steak and chop house. We had our Teams dinner while doing marketing Blitz for the new store here in San Antonio. From the door to the table and the meal everything was a great experience. The server was very knowledgeable and he suggested some very nice Options from the menu. I enjoyed the Broiled Verlasso Salmon and the chocolate dessert at the end.
I really liked it, until….
I went for my first time with a work party. I got the lamb. Medium rare. It was delicious; but I had filled up on fried lobster prior so I wanted to take the rest home to eat later. I got home and realized they gave me the wrong leftovers. I ended up with some bbq sauce, and well done steak pieces. As they offered to box it for me, I even thought to myself “no, I want to box my own food but I guess this place knows what they’re doing” - Just upset that a $40+ meal essentially only was half eaten. It really put a damper on how I felt about it all.
