I'm giving this place 4 stars for the food. However, as others have said, they really need to address the issue of being understaffed. Our waitress was friendly enough, but she was unable to take care of the tables she had. The restaurant was not terribly busy during my visit, but she was the only waitress/bus person at the time and she couldn't keep up.
The artistic environment of Barriba Cantina is fitting to the Mexican style cuisine. The customer service is great, and food it flavorful.
Good food, but very slow service. It wasn't even that busy, but it took my server 20 minutes to come to my table.
The mango pork tacos were amazing and very filling all for a fair price. One of many great places to grab some Mexican grub off the river.
Enjoying Margarita Day. Love the Cheese and Brisket enchiladas! My complaint is the only sides they offer are black beans, cilantro rice and coleslaw.
The food was pretty good..cept for the rice👀. It was pretty lit that they had live music. Awesome drinks!!
We sat outside during a chilly December night and thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. Sure, the restaurant is in a tourist trap, but the food we saw and ate appeared freshly prepared, and care was taken to ensure each item was seasoned and plated well. The service was a notch above for us, and we greatly appreciated the prompt ordering and speedy work.
The large margaritas here—28-ounce monstrosities—are goblets full to the salted rim of tasty premium tequila and your choice of flavoring. They don’t mess around. This stuff will knock you off your feet and set you straight the rest of the evening.
If we had to nitpick, we would recommend a sign letting customers know they should go inside when first seeking a table and service. We saw potential diners walk around aimlessly looking for a waiter, only to finally go inside and ask; others looked around and then left.
We will return to enjoy the free live music. Thank you for providing us a nice experience, and keep up the good work.
I've never reviewed a restaurant on Google reviews before but this place was awesome because... it was cheap, fast, but yet good food, good beer, and I was able to avoid the Riverwalk tourists. Fish tacos and everything else was reasonably priced. Salsa was good. It was chill, my kind of place. You want a chill but cheap good bite to eat? Go here. Not fancy but that's the point. I felt like I was at a restaurant at home here. Sit on the patio or at the bar, better conversation seating. I especially enjoyed the 70s, 80s, random rock mix playing as I had a beer and watched a basketball game. Thumbs up! ****
Don't miss out! This place is above the river, but worth going upstairs to find. Try their chips with 3 salsas. Yummy. Great margaritas. We had chicken tinga tacos and the Alamo bowl and tried their guacamole. Delicious. We sat outside and watched the boats and people while we enjoyed our food and drinks. Can't wait to go again.
I picked off others plates and i got the brisket cheese enchiladas! Great food and full of flavor! The hot salsa that came with the food was particularly hot and I'm a grilled habanero lover. Service experience was...up and down during the visit but the food was outstanding. Will return next time on the river!
Third time back. Great atmosphere, service is friendly and attentive. Music by Catherine Denise was awesome. They always bring great acts to listen to. Highly recommend for a relaxing time. Also do not forget to tip your servers they are great.
