Great

It has been one of the best Italian restaurants in San Antonio, for the last 20or more years. it is always crowded, better to make a reservation, but anyhow you get a good table. very good food and service.

Busy place but excellent service

This is an attractive place with good menu. I split the Redfish Paesanos and the Eggplant Paesanos with my friend. We both loved the redfish. The eggplant dish was thick and heavy. Food on the whole was delicious.

We went there once, and we're pleased. Tried the chips with Gorgonzola fondue. And various entrees in the party. I got the jalapeño pesto pasta with pot roast. Very good overall. A nice twist on normal Italian by some fusion.

Gluten Free- Go for it!. These guys get a hug for one of the best gluten free menus in San Antonio. Their portions are HUGE! Two of us had the truffled potato chips appetizer with gorgonzola dip and it was addictive and probably enough for six people to share. The dinner salads are big enough for two and have a basil lemon dressing on them. I also had the Bandera Quail and it had magnificent flavor- layers of wonderful, complex spices. A pile of addictive chorizo mashed potatoes with gigantic grilled asparagus, two quail on top, covered in a smokey bbq glaze, topped with pickled onions, and served grainy mustard dipping sauce on the side. I am going back and saving room for dessert. The service was great, too. We came with a very limited time frame because we had to catch a show and they got our food right out!

Complimentary bread and hummus is very good. Bruschetta appetizer is simple but tasty. Tried eggplant parm, chicken scaloppini, and spaghetti bolognese and we were very happy with all if them. Eggplant was thick with a crispy parm crust. Scoloppini mushroom wine sauce was thick and full of flavor with an obvious wine taste. The chicken was thin and very lightly coated. Service was average. Sunday's are 40% off on full and half bottles of wine! Outdoor patio dining has plenty of shaded areas when the weather is nice. I prefer that over the loud atmosphere inside where the large, open area and concrete floors carry noises badly.

Fabulous lunch!. My boyfriend & I have been to the Paesanos on the Riverwalk and in the Alamo Heights area but never the one off of 1604. We tried out the 1604 location and loved it! It is by far our FAVORITE location. The menu is fantastic and my all-time favorite dish is the chicken tender scaloppini with mushroom sauce. As if I wasn't already in heaven with the food alone, our service was excellent. Johnathan was our server and was by far our favorite server of all time. We were seated outside by the little pond and that sealed the deal.

Appetizers and Drinks. First, this is my first time to visit this location and I was amazed how huge the place was! The bar area is not much and very sterile, cold looking but the actual restaurant goes all over the place. Inside, out side, several little rooms....and mostly empty on the evening we went. (I would hate to pay their rent!)
We had some appetizers that were very good....large calamari that were lightly battered with a sweet/spicey dipping sauce.....bruschetta that was not that tasty and to very hard bread.....and then Shrimp Paesanos! When I first moved to SA, 30 plus years ago, I was told I must have this! My friends, you must have this! LIghtly breaded, thick, plump shrimp in a buttery lemon sauce that pops in your mouth as if you are having sex. What a treat....but hurry as this location days are numbered.

Authentic. I come from a very strong italian background, I have had family come straight from italy and make food for me and I have to tell you this is about as authentic as it gets. This food is amazing and the servers are very nice and prompt when you need something. My most favorite thing on the menu however is actually the calimari appetizer, its not chewy or overcooked and the sauce its served with is sweet and spicy and oh so delicious!

The food was incredible. The seared ahi tuna was perfection and the best we've ever had. Also the flounder was cooked incredibly. The portion sizes for a main dish was easily for two or three people. Seriously the portions were HUGE!! overall the atmosphere and the architecture was really really nice. Can't wait to come back here

1604. It's worth the long drive for me from Downtown to eat at, what I consider, Joe's best version of Paeasnos yet. Ample parking, nicely designed dining room that baffles noise (unlike the '09 location that's just entirely too loud) and a new menu that proves an old dog can learn many new, and many tasty, tricks.

A highlight: Their osso bucco was fantastic, although I'm not sure it's a staple on the menu. Their spaghetti and clam sauce is properly made (and delicious) with clam juice as the base and not the usual creamy mess that you find at some other Italian spots.

Thumbs up from me.

It was our first time, and it was such a great experience. The waitress was so attentive to us, and the food was just great! The drinks were strong and yummy! This place is great for an intimate dinner, lunch with friends, or even a small fancy get-together!

I was beyond grateful to find a restaurant to accommodate a party of 13 people, at last minute. The wait was barely an hr, if that. I was at the bar drinking my "pretty in pink" drink...waiting for our table. The restaurant is lovely. Packed with people and now I can see why. The food is delicious! This is authentic Italian food. Our server Jason was quite helpful and funny. I was thinking of getting the Chicken Parmigiana but he recommended the Veal Parmigiana. It was INCREDIBLE! I've not eaten veal in ages. My nephew ate a steak with lavender French fries and it was pretty great. The prices for the plate were fair and plenty. EVERYONE enjoyed their meals. I'd definitely return if I'm in San Antonio again. Thanks!

Attached is Cappellini Pomodoro Crudo with garlic, basil, mozzarella and custom sauce (tomatoe sauce and alfredo),Fettuccine Alfredo and Spaghetti with meat sauce all very tasty. Also, they serve with bread with olive oil and hummus. Atmosphere pleasant . Prices vary from $10-$40. Upscale restaurant however, from hostess to waiters very attentive and courteous. Even though they are busy they apologize for the delay and makes you feel welcome.

After looking for a restaurant to eat with friends, Paesanos caught my attention and I'm glad it did! Our entire group had a variety of orders and every single bite was worth every penny. They have the most authentic Italian food with fantastic starters and the complementary bread with hummus and garlic oil was just exquisite. I will be coming back for more. You won't be disappointed!

Delicious lunch! We had the ceviche, wedge salad (big enough for two!), veal parmesan and of course the shrimp paesano. Everything was delicious and we topped it off with the toffee banana bread pudding 🤤🤤🤤. Had a lavender lemon drop martini and a blueberry old fashioned. Both drinks were great. Highly recommend for any occasion!

Always a great experience at Paesanos. We went recently for a family members birthday and it was amazing! I had the rib eye, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. I ordered it medium rare and that’s how it came all the way through, which is always impressive to me on a bone-in steak. It also came with a house salad, which could be swapped for a cesar. The mashed potatoes were delicious and buttery. The asparagus had a slight char and all the delicious flavor you’d expect that to come with. It also came with two Shrimp Paesano. These are a house staple and have to be tried. Juicy, crispy, citrus/butter sauce, words don’t do them justice. Our server was very attentive and our party of 8 received all the food at the same time. It’s a gorgeous place. Minimalistic, large open spaces, concrete floors, beautiful bar and separate bar seating area. The traffic was a little intense on the way there, but we met right after rush hour and we’re seated within 5 minutes or checking in. It was a Wednesday, but the place was pretty full. It didn’t seem to detract from the service. The food came out quickly, too.

We had the smoked salmon, Caesar salads, shrimp paesano and calamari as an appetizer. All did not disappoint, the calamari is always so meaty and delicious. The salmon dish was on the spicy/smoky side, but I later realized it was because of the peppers on the brocollini. If you don’t like spicy this may not be the fish for you. Our waiter was very attentive, and during lunch the restaurant was not as busy so we were sat pretty quickly. We were stuffed and satisfied, and would definitely return.

I had a chicken parmesan which was better than all other restaurants. Very well cooked with good flavor. I particularly like how they made the breading. However, the dish could have used more sauce for the spaghetti. Over all good entree, service and atmosphere.

One of the better Italian restaurants in S.A. Love the escargot, and Veal Parmesiana. Decent small bar, lots of outdoor seating options. Great drink selection. In a very nice area, very nice looking restaurant inside and out.

Excellent food as always. Ate the rice crusted oysters(stellar btw), calamari(which is thick, meaty & cooked to perfection w/o rubbery feel), lobster ravioli, quail & scallops. Cocktails were great. Tried the blood orange martini and the blackberry old fashion.

Sunday, Jun 12…Had a luncheon for 24 people in private room. Ms Marissa served us and she exceeded our expectations. She accommodated every need we had. Food was tasteful and appropriate temperature when it was served. Serving size was perfect and the consensus was all 24 people enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and specially the service Ms Marissa provided. Thanks!!

Have heard good things about this place, and we ended up having a birthday dinner here with family and friends. The lamb was good, but the shell steak was great, I wasn't a fan of the couscous, but it wasn't terrible, just not for my palette. The bruschetta was great, the Kalahari smelled amazing (I don't eat it though), but the lack of sweet tea was rough for me. All in all, it was worth (almost) every penny.

The food & ambiance are amazing here! The giant calamari is absolutely delicious, and it was cooked perfectly. The cucumber martini was very tasty and we were lucky because we got to sit by the fire place on a chilly night. My eggplant parmigiana (not pictured) was delicious too.
