Our food was delicious but it took a long time to come out. The manager did come by and give our table free dessert though, so that made up for it! Our waitress may have been having an off night, she wasn’t very attentive. I would give it another shot if we were back in town though!

Ask for Alex El Cubano. The mesquite cooked rib eye is to die for. We have never had anything that was less than delicious.
This restaurant has very authentic decor. The food is always good, but the waiters seem to have a little trouble understanding what gluten-free means. There was a slight bit of trouble when my companions and I tried to order gluten-free food. But, we did get some delicious, truly Mexican food and the incident will not keep me from returning. Juliette was very helpful and really kind.

The food and service was excellent. Saturday afternoon lunch. This was a last minute pick and expectations were low based on the rating. However, everything had a great homemade flavor. From the complimentary homemade tortilla chips (although they were unevenly salted) that were well complimented with homemade salsa from roasted tomatoes and a nice bean dip to balance out the flavor.
I got the Puntas de filete al Albañil, a mildly spicy dish of stewed beef and thinly sliced potatoes. I was pleasantly surprised with not only how well prepared the dish was, but also the sides. The refried beans had a great balance of a light seasoned flavor which mixed well with the white rice. The rice had this great balance of rice, small bit of mixed vegetables, and butter than just went perfectly with the stew and beans. Then to top it off, homemade flour tortillas that were perfectly toasted to enhance that homemade taste.
This was by far one of the most flavorful, authentic tasting Mexican dish I have had in San Antonio in awhile. I'm not sure how this place has such a low rating, if your looking for well prepared authentic mexican dishes definitely give this spot a shot.
My go to item here are the generous portion and tasty beef fajita tacos.
I like the assortment of salas at the salsa bar. Spacious place. Pretty fast getting food out to your table.
Low points
My been n cheese tacos are almost always luke warm to cold.
The cheese spread that is used on the nachos is beyond horrible.
Side dishes are usually on the cold side.
If they would do a better job at serving warm food I think I would have them for lunch or dinner more often.
I had the steak and my dining party had enchiladas, chicken , and tacos. Great food and very attentive staff. Food was served hot , presentation was nice, live music. Little hard to find but worth the look.

Palenque Grill is okay for what it's worth. The food is typical nothing that "WOWs" me out. I give a 4.0 because the service you receive is 100% excellent. I've been here four times within the last few months of grand opening, the service remains excellent. The food is nothing to rush over here to try. I sent my salmon back 7 times the second visit, received a comp meal and a gift card to give them another try. I have given three more try's and it remains the same "Nothing Special" come for the excellent service and cocktails.. Have dinner or lunch somewhere else.
The plus side; if your walking around La Centara Mall & your phone is -2% dead😼
They will provide a charger for just about any phone. Lol LOL LOL

So the manager came up to me asked me what I thought about the restaurant, I gave him my honest opinion. II express to him that the food absolutely sucks, The service was extraordinary, and the drinks are always cold and refreshing. He couldn't believe his ears, lol!
Again I must say the service is extraordinary. Manager went out of his way to introduce his favorite meal on the menu, explain to me that the dinner entries are made from the heart and recipes are from generations back when they started with EL Pollo Loco(??)
The manager made us an amazing dinner tons of flavor and yummy! So! That's what the secret is, stay away from Appetizers!! Go rt for The entrée.
4.5 as of 9:49 pm will not give a 5.0 until (5 more visits)
Great service, fine ambiance and excellent food. Perfect place to have lunch/dinner at La Cantera. Menu is carefully tought and have something for every taste. High quality ingredients at a reasonable price.
Probably the best beef fajitas I've ever eaten and being from Texas I've eaten plenty. Margaritas were excellent atmosphere was lovely staff was excellent. Will be going back next time I'm in San Antonio.

THANKFUL they were open for Christmas Day Dinner. The food was of course excellent a always. The staff... amazing (especially for working on a holiday)
Food is delicious. Tampiqueña is our favorite. We also had churros for dessert, chefs kiss. Staff was super friendly, specially Frida who was our server.
My son and daughter-in-law took me here for my 50th birthday, and I must say the service was impeccable and the food was just as good! Cruz was attentive, thorough, and explained the menu thoroughly when needed. Also, the manager Diego was very friendly and more than happy to help in any way! Great job and I will be returning on my next trip to visit my son. Thank yall!
First time experience was amazing.. had a awesome service, great food, and atmosphere... we recommend that you ask for Saul. Saul was very attentive, great customer service, he come to our table through our time there to make sure we were taken care. Most definitely will go back. Was impressed that the Manger was going to every table to make sure everyone was being taken care.
Such a good experience here. The food was amazing, the drinks were strong, and Eric León was a FANTASTIC server -- he was so kind and catered to all our needs fully and quickly. I will absolutely be back next time I'm visiting San Antonio.

I came to this restaurant to kill some time while my girlfriend was shopping nearby. In an odd accident, the general manager happened to be carrying drinks directly behind me and someone bumped into him so he spilled them. After some of the staff helped him clean up the mess, the GM introduced himself to me and apologized for the incident. He also explained to me the authenticity of their food and rushed out some of the chips and beans to me. I cannot state just how blown away I was by his friendliness and kindness.
After trying the food I can also say that it is incredible!
We had a wonderful time here and the food was top notch - the shrimp tacos were some of the best tacos I’ve had in recent memory. Outside of the tacos there weren’t any complaints although there wasn’t any compliments either; it’s a very consistently good restaurant. The atmosphere was great and they had two different performers while we ate our dinner. 7.5/10
The atmosphere is amazing when the live music plays (I believe every weekend). I have heard so many things are good from the Shrimp tacos Gobernador, Puntas de Filete al Abañil, to the ribs and the Garritas De Leon, but I always go in, look at the menu, and order the same thing: Tacos Matamoros and mango shots. Will try more and add more photos, but matamoros and mango shots are a perfect hit EVERYTIME! I like to half the four tacos and use the second tortilla underneath to eat it as 8 tacos that aren't as stuffed. Excellent service from the wait staff and hostesses always!
Not a waste of your time whatsoever. I believe this is one of the best grills I've been so far. The servers where nice, the place was clean and the food was very good. I'm not giving 5 stars just because I feel the wait time for the food was too long even with the restaurant not being packed.
I do recommend it, is a pretty good place, affordable and very nice environment.

Can't say enough of about the great food and fun at this restaurant. The tacos asadas are some of the best I've ever had. The Ribeye tacos take even a step further with a whole lot of flavor. The hot sauces are a bonus. Make sure to try and make it for happy hour for discount drinks and tasty appetizers. The ambiance is both classy and festive with both inside and outside dining. My only grip is that it gets super busy on the weekends which does lead to very long wait times. Thankfully I work weekends so I enjoy Palenque on a weekday just the way I prefer it. Can't wait to return.

Went here for our wedding anniversary and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Our server, Mateo, super fantastic. He was quick and super pleasant. The food was absolutely delicious it made me wish I had a second stomach. If that wasn't enough the atmosphere and live music made it a pleasure for sure. Definitely worth the price tag for an evening I'll never forget.
