One word: "FLAVOUR". Even though this is from a mobile smoker, this was some of the best, tender, flavourful BBQ I have had in the San Antonio, TX area bar none. I have visited this truck multiple times on separate visits to TX and have not been disappointed either time. The marble cut of their brisket is incredible as well as their pulled pork sliders. They do have a restaurant store front that I would love to visit as well in hope that the taste is the same as their truck. THIS LOCATION IS A MUST VISIT!!! You will not be disappointed 😋
Went on the recommendation of friends. Absolutely fantastic! Food was delicious all around. In the group we had pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. Everyone really enjoyed it.
My wife and I dropped in yesterday. 4**** bank was right next store, we met a nice family. I really liked my beans, smashed potatoes, and pork sandwich. Misses says she found a new fav col saw. Back on the road in two shakes. Good to go!
I ate there Sat at their restaurant on Broadway -had the brisket and sausage sandwich w tater salad. The sandwich was very flavorful though a bit greasy i gather from the sliced sausage which is what happens when you heat up sausage. The sauce was also very good and the sandwich had an ample amount of meat. The sauce on the table which i understand is what they put on in the kitchen had an unusual flavor which was pleasing and slightly sweet. the meat was a bit salty, but the sauce balanced that out. their mustard bq sauce seemed to have horseradish. it too was rather flavorful. the tater salad was very fresh and tasty though next time I'd add a little salt and pepper before eating. i will be back and do recommend. still, I'll try other places in town to see what's out there. FYI...all their soda is bottled -no fountain or refills except for tea.
Austin now has a worthy rival. Humble building--- grand BBQ. Had the q sandwich w potato salad. 5/5. Son agreed. Got some ribs and was greatly pleased with the sweet sauce that enhanced the tender deliciousness. Glad that it's part of my hood. One complaint; ice needs to be in a more sanitary dispenser than an ice chest with a scoop. Will be back.
Great BBQ!. If you like eating BBQ off the tailgate of your truck and enjoying the sun. This is the place to be. They have the most tender BBQ that I've tasted in San Antonio. The brisket just break apart with only a plastic fork, didn't need a knife. The spicy corn is perfect. Will be back, for sure!
Now serving ambrosia!. On my most recent trip, I had two pulled-pork sliders with cole slaw and a side of baked potato salad. All I can say is holy cow...err, pig!! The meat was cooked perfectly and not chopped up into a fine-grain slurry. Yes sir, there are real and identifiable chunks of pork on these sliders! The meat is covered in a vinegar-based sauce which I found extremely delicious. I think the meat can stand on it's own, but I'm not in the habit of eating pulled pork without some kind of sauce. The potato salad was delicious too and resembled German potato salad which I love. This trip ranks among the most satisfying lunches I've ever had. I ate outside at one of the picnic tables underneath the shelter and not even the dark soggy weather could spoil this experience. WOW! If you haven't been to Conger's Smoke Shack, you've GOT to try it. Call in to work sick if you have to. It will be worth your while!!
Deadly BBQ. The 2nd best BBQ I have ever eaten that wasn't made by my family. The sides were very good especially the mac and cheese. The coleslaw had feta cheese in it but it works very well. Tried brisket, turkey plate and brisket, pulled pork sliders. Sampled the St Louis style ribs as well. It will impossible to know which one to choose upon returning.
Best in the City. First let me say I am a barbeque junkie. I love good bbq! And this is the best I have had in San Antonio! I always get the marbled brisket and have never been disappointed. The ribs will make you weep; they are so good. And the pulled pork is why God made pigs. I could go on and on about the food. Chris, the owner, is a really great guy and everyone there is awesome. Love Love Love this place!

They were voted #1 for a reason. Just to reiterate what everyone else is saying, Conger has some great que and theres nothing like coming back to work and having people tell me I smell like BBQ! The Pulled Pork Slider is out of this world delicious and the BBQ sauce added to it is like no other....a mustard based BBQ sauce. You just have to try this place out for yourself to see....highly recommended.
Goodness gracious great balls of Texas BBQ. So good, finally after months of sifting through sub ParBQ I found smoke shack food truck, the sliders are the bees knees & Hot damn that spicey corn! Ill never forget that corn as long as I live.
Pulled Pork Heaven Here. This food truck offers up some very tasty pulled pork. I have to admit that I have not been too impressed with much of the pulled pork that I have encountered in San Antonio. This is definitely the exception. It was succulent and so very tasty. I had some potato salad and seasoned corn for sides and all were tasty. This place is away from the beaten path but well worth visiting.
Top-notch Q! The brisket sliders were smokey, tender & juicy. The bread & sauce were a perfect match. Awesome sides! Unique without being weird.
PORK. Stop what you are doing now and head over to the Smoke Shack food truck for some good ol' Texas BBQ. I could eat their pulled pork all day every day! One of my ultimate favorites is their orginal cole slaw. A light vinegar base made with feta cheese...hello!!!! Top it of with their signature sauce and now you can get a sneak peak of heaven.
The smoke is there...but not too much where you can't taste the meat. It's not all covered in sauce which is also a plus. Best pulled pork I've had in a long time. Thanks Chris! WSP
Must stop at this food truck. You can't beat this place. Some of the best pulled pork I've had in Texas. Try it with their creole style bbq mustard sauce, it's soooo good. My fiance and I always ask for extra sauce. YOu can't beat the prices and the sides are homemade and outstanding. My favorite is the cole slaw, a vingar base with the kicker being feta cheese. Obsessed with it. We went 3 times and one week.
Nice people serving really good BBQ on the fly out of their trailer for lunch only. The pulled pork sliders are my favorite. Hope these kids get to open a stationary place one of these days that is open longer hours.
Skip the sides, they are all a bit peculiar. But the sliders are the best!!
Decided to check their truck out while out at pearl's farmer market. well, the smoke attracted me and the hubby to them, LOL. we had two mini sliders, one pork and the other brisket. YUM! very tender meat. we both liked the pulled pork. =)

Congers Smoke Shack is like eating at a five star restaurant but not paying the price at the end. Recently Congers had won the barbeque madness tournament here in San Antonio. This isn't a high end place nor is it a place where the hipsters go. Congers is a little truck off of Loop 410 and Nacogdoches rd that serves great BBQ! On my first visit the scent of the smoke rolling out of this little trailer hit me in the face and then sucker punched my nose. I ordered the Pulled Pork Sliders and to my delight, it was the best pulled pork I have ever eaten. It was tender and juicy and cooked perfectly. As I was leaving I asked him if he could tell me how his BBQ was made because it had something in it I recognized but rarely eat....It was MUSTARD! I don't like mustard but this mustard based BBQ sauce was incredible! I rate this the best BBQ in San Antonio and if you are craving for BBQ, I suggest you go over to the Smoke Shack on Nacogdoches and 410 and grab a slice of BBQ
...their Dijon/Vinagar sauce was out of this world. That right there made the Pulled Pork worth every bite and if I was judging the taste of meat on the sauce it would get a solid A+. If they bottled it I'd drink a cup of that for breakfast.
Went here for BBQ off of Google reviews and because Guy Fieri went here. We got the 3 meat plate. Ribs-Jalapeno Sausage & the Brisket. For sides we got the Pinto Beans & Creamed Corn. We enjoyed all of it. You order at the counter then they bring it out. They have both indoor & outdoor seating.
Nice place for BBQ. Was clean, well lit, and many open tables. Service was ok, got brisket to go but it took longer than expected. Brisket was tender and tasty. Came with rolls, pickles, onions, jalapeños, and BBQ sauce. Decor inside was of typical BBQ place.
First time eating here. Ordered by phone for take-out.
Asked for a brisket sandwich WITHOUT bbq sauce, and was given one with some instead.
Bbq definitely changed the flavor of the sandwich, and it was not to my liking. Though, the sauce was tasty.
Sweet tea is yummy! I recommend that!
Atmosphere's nice. Employees are kind!
Located just across from The Witte and featured on DDD this is a very popular BBQ joint with very limited seats. The staff is great at clearing tables as soon as they become available. Not pictured is the famous brisket grilled cheese which was delicious! The spicy creamed corn had a little kick to it. All around great food!
Now THIS is a fantastic BBQ joint! 🤤 I had the marbled brisket, pulled pork, collard greens 🤤ðŸ˜ðŸ¤¤, and the fries. Hubby got marbled brisket, spicy corn🤤🤤, fried okra, and turkey. The rolls were wack imo, but everything else is delicious! WOW! LOVE their pickles too! 😆 Service was good, one of the fellas even came out to make sure we we're happy with everything, wasn't expecting that. The place doesn't look like much from the outside but don't be fooled! 😆 So good, can't wait to visit again.
In town for work and wanted to try something new. Coworker found this place online with lots of great reviews. It did not disappoint.
I had the brisket, pork, Mac and cheese and vinegar slaw for sides. Others had the brisket, sausage and collards and spicy creamed corn.
I didn't eat the bread. (Plain roll. Seemed store bought, possibly) We discussed that the bread could be much better compared to the rest of the food. Cornbread would be phenomenal with the other food items.
Good was pretty good. Was expecting a little more from a TX bbq joint. Robs and brisket were a little dry, Mac and cheese with shredded brisket was fire and the okra was meh. People were cool that I dealt with. Maybe it was an off day.

Ironically, this had been our second choice, but should’ve been our first!
The seasoning on the okra is some of the best I’ve had in the south. The glaze on the ribs had a delicate sweetness without tasting like candy. The brisket has that smokiness without taking over the meat. Allowing you to sauce at will. And the sausage wasn’t dripping in grease and had a peppery flavor (there is a jalapeño sausage option).
Sides wise I’ve mentioned the okra, but you will be very pleased with their mac ‘n’ cheese (has reasonable amounts of sausage and brisket). This isn’t the mustard potato salad of your parent’s backyard barbecue which worked well for me. Think a baked potato with fixings but cold. We all know sweet tea is diabetes in cup, but here there’s a balance — sweet but not lethal.
The staff was exceptional and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Today’s playlist a throwback to the 80’s with Fine Young Cannibals, Def Leopard and others. My sole #sadness was the absence of desert, but not so much that I wouldn’t return.
All in all, this honorable mention for Texas Monthly magazine is worth your time if you like a great place of food at a mostly affordable cost!
This is hands down one of the best BBQ spots in the world.
Absolutely everything is top notch. The Brisket is absolutely delicious and falls apart in your mouth. The pork is the perfect amount of fatty and when you throw it in some BBQ sauce it takes it to the next level. The MacNCheese is creamy and packed with flavor. I can't recommend the sausage enough it's absolutely delicious. Even the sweet tea here is great.
But the best part of this place are the ribs. They're amazing in every way. They're soft and tender. The glaze elevates the ribs to heaven, it's sweet, packed with flavor and every bite makes you want more.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming offering the best of Texas hospitality.
This place is amazing and a must visit if you're in San Antonio.
Smoke Shack has very good Texas BBQ at reasonable prices. I took two buddies here and we really enjoyed the food. We all got the two meat plate. The Turkey and brisket were scrumptious. A nice touch is there offering of Topo Chico.
Average bbq joint, not bad but not the best. The ribs were very fatty but I'll say the marbled section of brisket I had was great! The sides are fine, but the brisket Mac & Cheese stood out to us on this stop.
Great food, awesome folks, MASSIVE portions (definitely get your money's worth), good sweet tea, & southern hospitality vibe. Even Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives visited here. Oh, and the prices are the cheapest. You gotta go. You'll thank me later, lol.
Loved this place. Great place to stop by if you are in the area. Especially after touring the Witte Museum. Very fast service and very delicious food. Brisket was soooo moist, and the pulled pork was full of flavor. My son had the ribs, and they were falling off the bone. My daughter loved the Brisket Mac & Cheese. There were so many options. It took me a minute to decide what I wanted. I'm definitely going to come back for a few other of their dishes.
Local favorite. Pretty darn good barbecue!! We had the beef brisket and it was super moist and tender. The shredded pork was also tender and flavorful. The last dish we tried was the grilled cheese with brisket. Tasty. The fried Okra, collared greens and the macaroni cheese sides were simply amazing. Very homemade and so so good! We will return.
Absolutely delicious!! I had the brisket with mac & cheese, and fried okra. The brisket had amazing flavor and was super tender and juicy. You have the option to wash it all down with tea, lemonade, a variety of soft drinks and they also have a nice selection of beers. The staff was very friendly, and service was very fast. I had my order as soon as I was seated at my table. I highly recommend.
The ribs and Mac and cheese are worth a visit by itself. Ribs by the bone are an awesome touch.
Nicely cut fresh onions, pickled jalapeños, and pickles taste great and are a welcome addition.
A couple more local beers to choose from would be appreciated
The chopped brisket makes it hard to eat the sandwich and was rather dry. Sliced brisket would have been preferred.
