This Joe's is on Riverwalk right beside Bubba Gump and Hard Rock Cafe. I only saw the restaurant from the river because there was no signage for the place on the College Street side. The restaurant is enormous. The staff were attentive, and the hostess was very pleasant. One of the waitresses actually stopped and chatted with us for a while. She was very sweet. The place was pretty bare during the time I was there. It was a Thursday right at noon. So if you want to get in-and-out quickly, I'd suggest this time. I ordered a pound of Peel-and-Eat Shrimp with fries. They were slightly overcooked, which made some a bit gooey. But for the most most, I liked them. I believe if I got a half pound, it wouldn't have had that issue. My co-worker got their Thursday special and stated their food was perfect. This might seem simple, but the soda was perfect. The restroom was on the third floor and a bit spooky to be up there alone. This shouldn't be the case when it's busy.
The best of the best. Honestly we had a previous bad experience at river walk minutes before and we decided to walk further to get to a restaurant. We came across Joe's and decided to stop by. The experience was awesome with great customer service. There was no wait at all vs most restaurants. The restaurant was very attentive to my children's needs and they were so happy as well. On my next time in the city I will make sure to stop by. Joe's has never failed us. Was really worth the 3 hr drive to this restaurant, just wish we had 1 closer to home.
When you get there, ensure you look around and read. The reason being, we asked where Joe Crabshack was located. To which the lady said it was upstairs, in the presence of the hostess for Joe's. After walking upstairs and figuring out it was a plot to send us to another restaurant, we walked back down the stairs only to find out that the other lady allowed her to push us upstairs when she could have said no, it's right here. So be cautious. Otherwise, you'll be up and down the stairs. Joe's Crabshack is on the first floor, with a mean hostess.
Food was fast and good and staff was extremely friendly. Luis Rodriguez helped us multiple times even when he didn’t have to. All in all great restaurant.
Seafood lovers paradise! The mouthwatering menu selection for kids and adults was plentiful. Portions were filling and tasty. Our waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable of menu items. The food preparation was perfect. We had no wait time to be seated. I will recommend and return to Joe's Crab Shack.
Kristina Perez and Johnny Garcia were great. They made my night after having trouble with parking. . Very courteous and polite to all. The food was excellent and fast.
Got crab bucket with clams added with Old Bay season. Sunday evening. Got seated quickly. Laurence checked on us shortly after we arrived to get our drinks set up and insure we had a server waiting on us. Seemed like they were going through shift change so it was great to know we didn't get lost in the shuffle. We ordered. Our drinks and food came shortly after. Crab was fresh, seasoned perfectly & cooked just right. After that our server Cynthia was friendly and attentive checking on us throughout our visit. This visit set bar close to the quality we remember from our early experience in the mid-90s.
I went here for my birthday a few days ago, it was awesome. First of all the food was very delicious and well cooked. It was a very nice place and the wait time wasn't too long either. The people were very nice and I even got sung happy birthday, and got a Sundae. I would definitely recommend coming here.
Food was delicious, pricing was about what I expected it to be. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only downside was it being a big party it had to be upstairs and not on the Riverwalk but they notified me of that ahead of time. Other than that it was overall a great experience. Added plus they sang happy birthday to my daughter!
Very on theme at Joe's Crab Shack on the riverwalk with shirts, hats, and other goodies available for purchase. Our server was attentive and bubbly! Food was fresh and hot, we enjoyed a Classic Sampler and Cajun Steampot. Wait times weren't long at all for a Sunday especially during spring break weekend. Will be back for seconds someday soon!
We had one of the nicest server. I have never been to Joe's crab shack before, therefore I had many questions about the menu and ingredients. After deciding we ordered, coconut shrimp and fish and shrimp platter. They all came with fries, two hush puppies and coleslaw.
Shrimps were delicious and so was the fish and for drinks we I got virgin pinacolada with strawberry and wife ordered, banana and berry drink. Both of them were refreshing.
Overall experience was great
Food is great, service is great but DON'T PURCHASE ANY ALCOHOL DRINKS HERE! ITS A WASTE OF MONEY! ITS VERY WATERERD DOWN! VEEERY! we asked the waiter for better drinks and he brought us another watered-down drink lol my advice is get wasted before you come here lol your experience will be much better lol
From the moment we walked in the staff here were amazing!!! Kari was an absolute rock star of a server. She was super nice and interacted with all of my kiddos even my @ssh0le son. I honestly wish I could have left here a bigger tip but my wife has a thing for seafood so I knew she was gonna run up that bill.....🤷 What can ya do right??? The door person was especially nice after the wife and kids walked out, she had has awesome tats too. We were there on a weekday and got there right at opening but that was after following my wife trying to get to the car for over an hour so we were super hungry so I might be a little biased......I definitely recommend this location.
Food was very very good. Prices are about what you'd expect for a tourist trap area, a bit much for a local though. We spent about $160 for 4 people but that's because we shared 3 baskets which are technically meant 1 per person.
Service was phenomenal, staff is very attentive and informative.
this restaurant is on the Riverwalk, one of only two remaining in the SA area. be prepared to pay $20-$25 for parking and to walk a good distance, including stairs, to get there. the service was lackluster. our waitress was very inattentive and it was not a busy time at all..... only two tables of folks, including us, to start.
the food, however, was delicious. I got a classic steampot and my husband the blackened tilapia. I would recommend both dishes.
