What a find! Everything I’ve had has been great - chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, potatoes, chef’s veggies, pancakes, cornbread, and eggs. Highly recommend Papa’s Breakfast if you like a sampler. All the compliments to their cooks. Servers are also top-notch. If you’re looking for home cooking in San Antone, look no further.

Mama's Cafe delivered a lunch experience that left us thoroughly satisfied. The warm and inviting atmosphere, coupled with welcoming staff, set the stage for a delightful meal. Our server's recommendations hit the mark, and the chicken fried steak, despite a slightly heavy batter, proved to be a winner. The sides, made with fresh vegetables, added to the overall goodness. Dessert was a sweet finale, with warm chocolate cake complemented by vanilla ice cream. Looking forward to returning for dinner – Mama's Cafe has earned a repeat visit.
Three of us had not been to Mama's in more than 20 years, and we decided to see if it was what we recalled.
The location is easy to find, and parking was easy to find on Saturday, 9/7, at 6:40pm.
We were seated in the back section, and Daniel was our wait person. Very professional, courteous, and attentive.
We ordered mushrooms, and they arrived within a reasonable wait time.
We also ordered the cat fish, meatloaf, and chick fried chicken dinners.
All the dishes were tasty. I would say the one thing that needed improvement was the white gravy served with the mushrooms and chicken dish. I think it was missing black pepper or some additional flavoring as it tasted a little bland.
Otherwise, I would recommend a visit and hope your experience is as good as ours. I'm looking forward to trying their breakfast.
Had not been here in several years, and the last time wasn’t so good. Atmosphere was the same but different, has the same vibe but cleaner. Food was a ton better than what it used to be. I had the pot roast and it was phenomenal. Will definitely be back again soon.
While staying with a family member recovering from surgery at NE Baptist Hospital, I checked out the reviews of some restaurants nearby. Mannnnnn, am I glad that we tried Mama’s Cafe!!!
I ordered it To go and it was ready very quickly, the bartender was efficient, and even thought to ask if we needed silverware!
The food was SPECTACULAR!!! We had the crispy chicken Caesar salad, the Salmon quinoa bowl, the jalapeño popper dip (GET THIS…if you think it sounds good, you won’t be disappointed when you taste it,) and the apple crisp!! The only negative was that the apple crisp would have been amazing, if it were warm.
I’ll definitely be back!!
I went there for lunch and it was busy but we were seated right away. Our server was excellent and very attentive to all her tables. Our food was so flavorful and it was so much! I will definitely return. Try it you won't be disappointed.
After visiting hospital we enjoyed juicy hot burger with Swiss and French fries and fried onions followed by a dessert. DOMINIQUE HERSELF did a excellent service ask for her😊rib and shrimp plate special you need to try ☕️
Ordered pork chops & roasted chicken. Both came with 2 protein, mashed potatoes, sautéed veggies. Food was delicious. Tastes like home. Wait staff very attentive & kept drinks full. So full we didn’t have room for their delectable desserts this time.
The beer on tap was amazing! Electric Jelly fish IPA. The deviled eggs were amazing! Talk about a spin on deviled eggs! The Chicken Fried Steak was Wagyu and amazing. I had the fried catfish....so good!
Woah! I was so glad I checked this place out. Forget about ihop, Denny’s, move over Cracker Barrel, cause this place was great for breakfast. I can’t wait to try their lunch and dinner!!
Our first time here, and we will definitely be back. The customer service was the best I've experienced (Miraluna was our server) their food is delicious, definitely would descibe as elevated comfort food. They have a bar!! The mimosas and margaritas were fantastic as well.
Excellent food and the service made my group feel like we were taken care of. I had the wagyu chicken fried steak and sasparilla bulldog. Both highly recommended.

Great brunch spot…sit on patio if can! Frozen margarita flight is yum but ask for no salt. We had the helluva mess and the chicken and waffles and both were delish. Service and atmosphere is 👍

Was super excited about the outdoor seating but the incessant predatory bird noises to keep doves out of the waterfall was so over the top. The food was decent though and the service was good.
This place was fun to visit. Service was great, and so was the food. Kind and professional staff. The only thing is that they did not have fried green tomatoes that night 😏
First time here with my family our server was great at recommending food items. Food was fast,hot and very delicious we ate breakfast loved it! A gentleman came over to ask how our services was we mentioned to him it was our first time here and he offered us a milkshake or desert on the house. Great place we definitely need to come for lunch/dinner.

Great menu for any time of day. We’re breakfast lovers and Mama’s is a winner from the coffee to the check. Get an on-line reservation for weekends. Get the $5 biscuit. Seriously. No, you don’t need it. Get it anyway. You will thank me for this advice.

Love that Mama’s has Gluten Free options! I had not had fried mushrooms in over 12 years! Love the lavender lemon drop and the burgers oh and the chicken fried chicken is also so tasty!
I really love they still use cups to the syrup and butter 🔝 instead plastic cups. But they would asking about straws because there are people whom don’t like to use them for ecological reasons ♻️less trash. Excellent food and service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
