Had a wonderful time out at Barbaro with family. Barbaro is located on a corner in a neighborhood area which makes the restaurant feel rather cozy. The ambiance is nice with great alternative music selections. The Happy Hour drinks are top quality and very tasty. The pizza is definitely in my top 3 for the best in San Antonio. Great service with very friendly staff. My only gripe is the credit card only policy which I don't care much about at all. At least I can still leave a cash tip to the servers which did make them quite happy. Anyway, I do highly recommend you give this place a visit.
What a neighborhood gem! We were visiting from out of town and looking for a gluten-free pizza. I read some reviews and they did not disappoint. We ordered pepperoni, peppers and black olives. SO DELICIOUS. Definitely recommend! The atmosphere was very fun and comfortable. The other menu options looked incredibly tasty - food and drinks alike. I’d love to come back.
We want to congratulate the chef in a big way, we just went to Italy last month, we tried many different artisanal pizzas, we have tried pizzas in New York and his is even better, one of our world top!! and the incredible decoration!
Overall, really enjoyed my experience here. Started with the garlic knots which were pretty awesome in their marinara sauce. Next tried a caesar salad which wasn’t my favorite. I would have probably preferred a little bit more dressing. It also came in whole romain leaves you needed to cut but there really wasn’t enough room to do so.
Then we went for a NY style pizza with sausage and pepperoncini peppers. Loved the pie and the crust was amazing.
Also tried some drinks. A couple of the drink specials including a banana pina colada and horchata colada. I enjoyed those a lot. Also gave the rose all day a try. If you want something light that will awesome.
Love the ambiance and the drinks! The service is friendly and attentive. The reverse happy hour was fun with great prices. We loved the frozen grasshopper too! The pizza is decent. Great for San Antonio but overall I’m usually a bit disappointed in the crust which is often crackery or a bit burnt. But I’ll still go back because it’s got great vibes!
I really enjoyed this place! The mood was warm, and welcoming. Everything we ordered was so unexpectedly flavorful. The gluten free had a good crunch with a softer center, and the sauce for the cauliflower and burrata really got everyone excited. The taste was impressive.
It’s usually pretty busy, so I recommend a reservation.
I went here about a week ago with some friends and oh my goodness it was amazing!! The garlic knots are a MUST! The pizza was also delicious! They also have a salad with anchovies on it?? Not necessarily for me but my friend and bf LOVED IT!! Their happy hour drinks were also amazing!
Had the carbonera pizza 🍕 with a couple of cocktails, which was delicious! The music, ambiance, and service were great. Will definitely be back.
I came here with my family to celebrate my sons birthday. I can now see why Barbaro is always busy. The decor and vibe is very mellow and modern. When we were seated we were given a glass bottle of water for the table, which was replaced as we finished it. We ordered and our food was out quite quickly. Everything was piping hot and fresh. We ordered a variety of appetizers and ordered our main dishes as well. The garlic knots are absolutely delicious and fluffy and warm. I could eat a mountain of them. We ordered spaghetti and pizzas for our main course and let me be the first to say that I have never seen meatballs that size in spaghetti. It was amazing the size of these meatballs. The amount of food was plentiful for leftovers for the end of the day. The pizzas have a delicious crust and I could not get enough of how amazing it tasted. Luckily Barbaro does pizza Mondays if you want to try numerous pizzas and not spend a ton of money. This is a great place to meet up with friends for a drink also since they have a bar as well as a great selection of wine. It is also a nice cozy spot for a first date, any date really, or just a nice relaxing night out. I will definitely be back for more.
Barbaro is a great spot for a friendly gathering for food and drink. Pizza is their jam and they don't well. Choose one of theirs or create your own. Pair some wine for the ultimate experience. The vibe is funky and modern and the McCullough location blends right into the historic neighborhood.
Food was great. Service was nice and helpful and pleasant, drinks were perfect and strong. And the music was blended perfectly. I just wish I had gotten there before the fried mozzarella had ran out. I was truly looking forests to those. But overall everything was great with some minor inconsistencies when we ordered by the slice. The one weird (not bad) thing was the way the ceaser was served. Kinda put a head of lettuce on a plate and dressed it. Still good just never seen it that way.
Went late for happy hour and it was really good! As a critical Italian the only think I can say was that the crust was only slightly dry. Otherwise it was all very good and far from junk food American style pizza! 100% recommended for a good pizza and late at night in SA 🌙
Uhhhhmazingly delicious pizza and snacks! The space has just the right amount of ambience and it’s perfect for a cute date or cosy get together with a friend or two. It’s quite comfortable in there. Their pizza is absolutely delicious. They have an array of their own pizza creations to choose from OR you can make your own (their selection of toppings is superb). May I recommend a pepperoni with roasted garlic, basil, and capers? By the way the staff and service was fabulous and their music was super chill. Overall, I recommend Barbaro. Make a reservation if it’s a weekend! ;)
Fun place for a get together, although limited parking. We all had a blast at our March Birthday Brunch party there outdoors under their tent! Food was pretty good, too
We had a great dining experience here! From the charcuterie board, to the drinks, pizza and dessert, this place blew us out of the water. The ingredients were fresh and the flavor was phenomenal! My most favorite part was all the great music and the vibe of the restaurant. We had been searching for a place that was not just a normal chain and did we hit the jackpot. I highly recommend the Blanche Devereux cocktail. This place is a must if you are living in or visiting San Antonio!
Fancy like , I don't know but the food is good and the drinks don't stop coming. Not particularly my type of crowd but I manage to blend in. I think? The pizza was so good . I had the happy hour bloody Mary which is unlimited for 15. I sure took advantage of that it gets crowded and it's cramp in the building. Which makes for spontaneous conversations with the tables next to you.
Excellent food and excellent service. The place is small and intimate. Perfect for a date. They have many small plates to share with friends. The drink menu is great as well. My favorite pizza is the bentons bacon. So damn delicious. Check it. They also have a badass happy hour at night, it’s like $3 pizza and a small cocktail list. Frozen coffee drink think is INSANE!
