Loved our experience at San Antonio Pig Stand. I have been wanting to go to an old dinner for some time now and I am so pleased with this place. From their servers to the food was amazing. I recommend the bacon cheese burger and the fried chicken. Also loved their mozzarella sticks.
Their classic milkshake are so creamy and savory.
I had heard this was the last weekend that The Pig Stand was serving food. We tried to eat dinner last night but they closed early. We headed back today for breakfast. It was the first time for my husband, Dad and me and we were able to make it for the last day.
Dad waited in the car since there was a line for people to go in. He noticed that this person in line seemed to be by herself and no one talking to her. I approached, introduced myself to Camille and invited her to join us for breakfast. We had fun picking out music to play from the jukebox.
Dad had the Supreme Omelette, my husband had the Chicken Fried Steak, I had the Pig Sandwich Combo and Camille had Biscuits and Gravy. Mary Ann stopped by our table. Her daughter, Donna, was also helping out. Monica was a great server and recognized us from yesterday.
It's sad to see a historic restaurant close its doors. 101 years! America's first drive-in and inventor of the onion rings. Thank you for the amazing experience! Mary Ann, we wish you well!
The atmosphere of this restaurant is to die for I do believe that there is no other restaurant in San Antonio like this one that can I match this energy. The porcelain pigs really add to the atmosphere it that made my dry, yet delicious meal truly enjoyable. I sit here with my family and I do consider not coming back however I do believe that by chance one day I will be back here in this faux leather seat. I can’t wait to try the desserts for the fries were pretty good and the coleslaw was all right. I enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger while my family enjoyed the pig sandwich, my burger was quite dry but they did seem to enjoy their sandwich. Again the atmosphere really adds to how wonderful this place truly is.
Always good to go to this dinner pretty nice and always a Swap Meat car parts on a Sunday.. a friend introduced this diner too me back in 1993 and ever since been hooked. So everytime I get a chance when coming out of town I come and eat here. I dunno if the chicken fried steak is still huge. But I do like the Bicuit & gravy for breakfast.
The Historic Pig Stand is a great breakfast spot! The ham, bacon, my overall breakfast hit the spot! Juke box brings back childhood memories. Highly, highly recommended!
It was my first time coming here. I'm glad I went with my mom and God mother. They were telling me the fun times they had there back in their high school days. Love how it brought back memories and them telling me how much fun they had. The food is very good. Everyone is so friendly there. Love how you can put in a dollar and pick out your own music on the jukebox. The music will play on the speaker up on the ceiling so everyone else can enjoy the music. Would definitely come back and visit again. Highly recommend this place.

One of our favorite family restaurants. Not sure why it’s never crowded because it’s by far the best diner in town. We always order a shake. The fried chicken is worth the wait. Love the brown gravy and mash potatoes. They actually have malt vinegar for the fish and chips. The staff is super friendly. We also love the cakes. My daughter loves playing music from the juke box. We always end up here when the Pearl restaurants too long a wait and we are never disappointed.
I just loved this place! Took me back to times gone by and dearly missed. In 2021 they celebrated 100 years! The service and food explains why this is! The staff was very friendly and the food was fast, hot and fresh; traditional diner experience. If you are in town and looking for good ol' diner food and affordable prices this is a must stop!!!
My wife saw a segment on this place during a local morning show so we took a little drive to check it out. Like stepping back in time 40 years! We had onion rings, much bigger crunch than we usually find. Had to order the fried chicken since it was their recipe and breaded in house. Everything was tasty, shame we have lived here 9 years and never heard of them until now.

This is a classic diner in all the good ways. My waitress, Monica, recommend two items on the menu as favorites: the pig sandwich and the chicken fried steak sandwich. I went with the latter and will have to try the famous pig sandwich next time. I'm not sure what made the chicken fried steak sandwich so good but it was surprisingly delicious. The fries and onion rings were unique and both good. The tea was freshly made. The strawberry cake was made in-house and was good. Monica put the icing on the cake, as they say, with attentive, helpful, and cheerful service. I'll be back, San Antonio Pig Stand.
Another first. Had the fried pork chops mash an corn. It was delicious. Definitely will be coming back to try the burgers and shakes. Server was very nice but forgetful of things but a very good experience 1
Came here for breakfast the hotcakes are awesome. Best I’ve ever had. I will be coming back for sure. Great service great food awesome staff.
What a landmark! They have been doing business for 100 years. 1-0-0! Listen don't go there for she-she foods... Go there to be a part of history. I had the chicken fried steak burger. It might be a frozen patty, I could be wrong, but that didn't stop it from being good. The onion rings are delish, try dipping them in ranch or their thicker than paste old fashion gravy YUM. My friend had the Pigstand BBQ sandwich. Holy pig batman. Im ordering that next time. I think the common sense thing to do here is order anything Crystal suggests. She recommend my friends choice, I went renegade. Great service. Nice to see a smile. Order that creamy shake. Nothing fancy, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry. Only regret? We didn't see the cakes until we were leaving.
It's a shame this place is closing this was the first and only time I will get to have the diner vibe...good luck with all yalls future endeavors and my you stay happy and healthy moving into the new Era
My children and I ate over here just now, and I must say we all loved the food and the service. The food was not spicy nor was it bland it was just right.
My family and my self where completely satisfied and I do Recommend this place to come eat at, and will definitely be back.
Atmosphere and history behind restaurant is definitely what this place is all about. Wanted to try the milkshake or banana split but was filled after pork sandwich.
