The food was outstanding and I believe it to be the best ramen in the city. We tried the spicy miso ramen, the chicken sandwich and the chicken app...all were wonderful and the flavor profile changed with every bite! The adorable lady at the counter was an added plus, she was so helpful and pleasant....rare anymore in the service industry! My husband is the GM of a fine restaurant here in San Antonio, so we love love love food...lol...that being said, we would both recommend this gem to anyone!
Ps. We really want to try those barbacoa mandu! Hint hint ;)
My husband and I both ate here yesterday evening. We both love tonkotsu, so naturally we ordered the spicy miso tonkotsu ramen. We also got the edamame with the miso popcorn butter.
My husband adored their edamame/butter combo. He could not stop eating it and looked so depressed once he had finished it! Poor thing. There was no container provided for the leftover shells, but I was fine with that because it just seems wasteful since they use disposable containers.
The ramen was absolutely delicious and had the perfect amount of spice for me. The pork chashu was buttery and soft— it felt like it was melting in my mouth! I also added an egg and the pickled mushrooms which were also great.
In my mind, I deducted a star (I had such a positive experience that leaving 4 stars felt wrong) because I was a little disappointed by how the spicy miso overpowered the tonkotsu broth. I was really interested to see how their tonkotsu tasted, as there are unfortunately a good amount of ramen shops in town that taste like they use a powder to make the broth. I'm not sure if plain ol' tonkotsu is offered, but I'd be interested in trying it out at Tenko! I'm very particular with tonkotsu broth (it is my favorite food), so if you aren't crazy like me, take this mental star deduction with a grain of salt. ;)
The gentleman who took our order was very kind and the rest of the staff got our food out quickly. I am honestly quite jealous of the staffs' shirts and would proudly sport one if they sold them.
Overall, I definitely plan on stopping by again to try out the rest of the food. We had a very pleasant experience and will be recommending it to our friends who need a ramen fix.
I highly recommend their Double Mushroom Ramen-you've gotta try it to believe it! Friendly staff and owners too
Tokyo Shoyu Ramen, Karaage & Chicken Katsu Sandwich were great! Staff was very friendly, even though they were very busy. Bonus points for being knowledgeable & accommodating with food allergies.
Love this place!🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Brought back memories of a place we would call red door ramen in Yokosuka. Oishi!
The perfect meal to warm the soul on a cold winter's day!
Love this place there noddles are addicting.
アメリカで食べたラーメンの中でも日本風ラーメンで美味しいです。醤油ラーメンは麺がもちもちしていて、スープともあいます
Went to the Pearl and came across this ramen place and decided to try it. I got the Tokyo Shoyu, and I enjoyed it. The portion size is just right and I was able to leave full. It came with a single, large piece of cha shu that was very tasty and flavorful. I also got the miso popcorn buttered Edamame, which was pretty unique and tasted delicious. Highly recommend you to try this one.
I had the Tokyo Shoyou Ramen and the portion is great for two people. I think it was good but the pork has a lot of fat and the ramen broth is pretty greasy so make sure you have a soda with you.
I personally had the Chicken katsu sandwich and the okonomiyaki fries and both were very flavorful! The chicken had a wonderful crunch to it. The fries were basically “loaded fries” with kimchi, toasted garlic, bonito flakes, togarashi, green onions and kimchi mayo! It would be awesome if they were hand cut fries, but they were basic frozen fries. The toppings made them delicious! My boss had the Spicy miso tantan-men ramen and it looked fabulous! I will need to try some ramen next time!!
The ramen itself is not amazing but it was done surprisingly fast. Of course it is not authentic Japanese ramen but well. I enjoyed a beautiful view of pearl brewery while eating ramen.
The Ramen was great, first time I ever tried it like and it was tasty. Someone at my work mentioned this place and wanted to try it myself.
I loved the Spicy miso tantan-men, pictured, I got the medium heat and it was flavorful . Not too much spice to the point you can’t enjoy the food. The service was great, polite and quick. Would rate 5 stars but my girlfriend said the ramen was just ok.
Tenko Ramen just catapulted into the best ramen in town. It is one of the stands in the Bottling department Food Hall at the Pearl, a great casual dining place for hipsters, pictures attached. Just be patient, in winter the table space is limited, there is plenty of tables just outside for warmer days. The ramen is great if you like authentic Japanese, might be out of some people's comfort zone. You must try the spicy ramen with its Sichuan peppers if you like spicy, otherwise the others are not spicy at all but loaded each with their unique flavor. They added xanthan gum for the authentic mouthfeel, it's not fat. Choices fairly limited but very unique and a great experience, a slice of Japan in San Antonio.
The mazeman was amazing and well flavored. The staff was really kind and helpful. They made it super easy to figure out what to order.
Good ramen on a busy day with the Pearl! Even during a hot summer day, I enjoy a bowl of ramen. Don't know what all the negative reviews are all about, but the nice man at the register explained all the bowls to us and was friendly. My wife and I enjoyed it and recommend Tenko! PS: My wife doesn't like eggs so I had two half of an egg shown below, normally it comes with half an egg.
This ramen is goooooood!! My number 1 right now. Large portions and different spice levels. Located inside the food hall in the pearl. Order the popular spicy miso ramen
I went here with my sister-in-law and husband; they said the soup was delicious. The lack of seating inside the building was a major turn-off and I wish they had another veggie option, but the customer service was spot-on. I would take my husband and sister-in-law here again if I was in the Pearl.
Got the Tokyo shoyu ramen and it was a 7/10 for me. My only complaint was the meat was very tough, not tender at all. However, the rest of the ramen (noodles, egg, corn, seaweed) were great.
Tenko Ramen is my go to every time I visit the pearl. The flavor is always there and I you'll definitely be able to take some too go with the portions that they give you! The katsu chicken is also fried sooo crispy!
Awesome place. I had the Chicken Shio Ramen, Karrage, and Kimchi. I loved every bite. I was quite surprised because they have a small menu, but the flavor and portion size made up for that very quickly. I will be returning on my next trip to San Antonio.
First time eating at Tenko Ramen, and it was excellent! I ordered the spicy miso with fried chicken thigh and charred corn. Not too pricey with the amount they serve you, so if you can’t eat a lot I suggest one bowl to share would do you fine. I honestly just wanted to go into a food coma. But I rate my first experience here a 5 star and I hope others do too. Also the line for this place can get very very long.
This place is amazing! Their spicy miso is my favorite. I appreciate that they offer gluten free options (zoodles). It’s a cool spot to grab some ramen and sit out to enjoy the Pearl. Highly recommend!
