The passion of sharing great food is evident in the chefs hands. From the bottom to the top, the menu is Superb. El Buen Gusto is truly a gem. Awesome customer service and top shelf menu items. This is not your everyday run of the mill TexMex cafe. Although they are more than generous in accommodating many requests to please the customer. The true gems are the delicious menu options and fresh made to order food that places this cafe above the rest. Be warned this place is habit forming!!!!!

Friendly staff and quick service. The coffee was great and they have the best homemade tacos. We really loved their chicharrón en salsa verde, chorizo & egg, and bacon & egg tacos. The red salsa was great too, I couldn't decide which one I liked best. We'll be sure to visit next time we are in town.

We had the chicken enchiladas and fajitas. Both were very good. Service was top notch. Small but very good food.

They made me a California burrito and it was fantastic. Carne asada, fries, quacamole and cheese, just like the ones in San Diego! Alfredo is the man!

Best homemade Mexican food in the Braun Station / Northwest Crossing neighborhood. Family run. Small. Not fancy. No bar. Just really great food.

We’ve driven by this place a few times and finally stopped in for dinner today. Our server, Alfredo, was so friendly and gave us very good recommendations. The food was all really good - my husband got the guisada plate and I got flautas. I also like that they fry their own chips and offer a few different homemade salsas.

UPDATE this place is still amazing! Awesome little place! Family owned and operated. Small dinning area, about nine or ten tables. So get here early... I had the Supreme omlette, simply amazing with lots of flavors! My wife had the Greene chilaquiles... The corn chips used were crispy and very flavorful! Service was great, never had to ask for coffee. Overall I will definitely be back and recommend El Bueno Mexican Cafe for all to try!

Chorizo and Egg taco was Exceptional! I'll definitely order two next time. The crispy potatoes were perfect. The red homemade salsa/hot sauce is my favorite at the moment. Small family friendly restaurant. Check it out.

That moment when you peel open the foil and know instantly you’re about to experience the truth. The subtle golden glow of the homemade corn tortillas makes one believe, if only for a moment that the aluminum is gilded and you’ve been bestowed a glimmering glimpse of heaven… El Buen Gusto Café in San Antonio Outstanding Pastor and if there’s a more perfect Migas taco, i want to know where.

This place is absolutely delicious! The staff is super friendly. I’m the Mix Grill was so damn good. The grilled queso fresco had my tastebuds dancing. My husband loved the tacos Al Pastor. He was in love with the pineapples in the meat at no extra charge. We’re from Austin and there’s always a $2 up charge for adding pineapple. Definitely a hidden gem.

Tiny place...but huge flavor, and they're so kind! Barbacoa was delicious! All the salsa's were unique and so good. I loved the mole chicken and their sides were also yummy! Great place! Hope they get a larger space soon because there isn't much space...but order it to go and you won't be disappointed!

The staff was very friendly. The food was absolutely flavorful. The salsa had the perfect amount of kick to it. The lemonade is fresh and has the perfect sweet to tart ratio. 10/10 recommend.

One of my few go to places here in San Antonio. The food and service have been amazing everytime. So far I've gotten the wet burrito with al pastor each time and it is beyond epic, though I did get to try the enchiladas and al carbon, everything being awesome. Also, their salsa is different from I'm used to, but really delicious. I can't wait to go back and try some other items on the menu. If you're ever in the area and craving some So-Cal Mexican food, check this place out.

I was a regular at the Jalisco taco up the street until I stepped in here. Wow, this is a awesome food. Much better food than the two locations up the street. Up the street is good, however, I like? better.

Literally, the best mole I have ever had in my life. I am O B S E S S E D. I brought this home for dinner for my sister who’s lived in multiple parts of South America, and my family from Tucson. We have eaten SO much mole as a family. At various price points. And this ranks among the best. All of us were stunned. As far as myself and my husband are concerned this was THE best. Two of the many people at this point I have bought this for said they didn’t even like mole before they had this. Which usually would make you wonder about its authenticity- I promise you, it’s authentic and incredible. We have had other bits and pieces and I love it. The staff is kind and lovely, the food is thoughtful and authentic and never overly greasy. It’s perfect. And it’s NOT Tex mex. As a Latina woman who used to live in an area known for its incredible Mexican food, I am just so stoked beyond stoked that none of their food is smothered in that fake “queso” half the places here are obsessed with. I cannot recommend them enough. El Buen Gusto is officially the one place so far that I HAVE to bring people by when they visit. Please, give them a shot. You won’t be disappointed!

A little hidden, but there's a reason the review is as good as it is. Carne Guisada was great, and the enchiladas were also excellent. Corn tortillas were hot and tasty. Whole place is great! Not a ton of seating inside, but that's okay. It's the perfect spot.

I love this restaurant!! I’m from El Paso, Texas and it’s so hard for me to find restaurants that are close to authentic Mexican food in San Antonio. Tex mex isn’t my thing. After discovering this place, this is my go to! Family owned business, and the family is from California so it explains the authenticity from their food. To all my chicanos, this is close to home.

Cool place, great food and an amazing hole in the wall that's I've ignored for year! Glad I finally gave it a shot, the only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is cause they have a fly problem.
