This place is the bomb I love it. Took awhile to find it the first time it is great Tex Mex to eat at in San Antonio. You'll love it. I Believe Tejano star and my Friend Selena Quintanilla and her family are here a lot. I love the beef Fajita plate
WOW! My sister Letty and I stopped by on Saturday Apri 22, our first time. We were very impressed with Mr. Rodriguez, beautiful personality. We had the enchiladas and they were on point! We were serenaded by Mr. Rodriguez. He has a great voice. I highly recommend this place. 😋🎶❤️👏🏼 God bless 🙏🏼
The best menudo in all of San Antonio! The Javi's Special is out of this world! Our new "go to" Mexican restaurant in town. The service is excellent and they treat you like family. Gilbert is still a great singer! ���
Mr. Rodriguez has been always been wonderful. He treats you like family. Very friendly staff. I highly recommend Gilbert's Restaurant. I had the carne guisada enchiladas, awesome!!
Best enchiladas ever! It’s like walking back in time but don’t let the place fool you! The food and the service is great. I had the pleasure of taking my mom yesterday and she loved it as well! We also had the privilege of Gilbert singing us two songs ! Will keep coming back !

Our breakfast was so delicious, we went back the next day. Gilbert himself is so charming & engaging. Our waitress was the right amount of good at her job and sassy. Delicious locally made flour tortillas.
We enjoyed breakfast at Gilbert's twice while celebrating our daughter's graduation from BMT at Lackland. Folks there showered us with hospitality and were more patient than we deserved with our questions and special food needs. And the flour tortillas! Amazing texture and taste --def the best I've ever had. Thank you to the crew at Gilbert's for amazing Tejano hospitality!
I"m from ATX came to visit family and my prima Brandy Lopez took me there, OMG You Can't go wrong� with any of the food. I ordered a Sopita the cook came out and announced it but debated between that and Enchiladas lol. Ashley is the best she brought me one enchilada to taste. and we were Saranated by Gilbert himself�... Loved it. will be going there over and over!
Had a plate called the javi special.. It was delicious. Enchiladas filled with carne guisada in them... Gilbert the owner sang a little for us.

The food is good Tex-Mex. I had the chicken mole enchiladas, and my wife had chicken enchiladas. The atmosphere has old pictures of some groups and musicians that are cool to see, but the restaurant is a bit cramped and could use a coat of paint. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food arrived quickly. All in all, we enjoyed our lunch and will come back. The green salsa is delicious.
I had never been here but I heard good things about this place! It was hard to spot its really hidden in the back corner. I love as soon as you walk in you see all the memorabilia of all the Tejano singers and Selena with the owner Gilbert. I met the owners brother which is so sweet and caring, he was checking on everyone's tables and running the food out as well as cleaning.I love and respect seeing the owners/family involved and engaging with the customers. You can tell they care and love their business. Customer service was on point. The food, sweet tea and salsa was way better than any others I've had in the marbach area. The enchiladas and rice & beans and tortillas were sooo good, like homemade i love their sauce too! I will definitely be back to try more plates.
Gilbert's Mexican Restaurant is a staple of Tejano music in San Antonio and if you can, stop by to give the Javi plate a try...Carne Guisada Enchiladas, they were great! Great music and awesome staff, came all the way from Lubbock, Texas and it didn't disappoint.
It's a small place with great staff and the food is awesome.

While I was waiting for me food, I saw how quickly this place has there regulars and they know them all by name.
The Barbacoa, Menudo, and GBC tasted amazing!!! I can't wait to come back and visit.

Food is great. Service is great. The price is good for the taste and experience. I love the pictures of Selena on the walls and mariachi bands. It feels like a cultural venue. The music they play is beautiful and authentic.
It's a good Tex-Mex restaurant. The enchiladas are good. I had the carne guisada plate. The service is great. Very polite young lady.
Lots of pictures of Tejano Musicians. I really enjoy that very much. It was noisy because of a party going on. I will go back. We need to try their tacos.

First time I tried this place out and a must try are Javi's Carne Guisada Enchiladas!they were the best it was so saucy and cheesy super delicious!It's a little hole in the wall place but that's always where it's at for good food!

We had Javi Special (Carne G enchiladas) w rice and beans and cheese enchilada plate. Both of the plates were very fresh, kinda like mom used to make.
The salsa and chips were fantastic as well. I've never had carne guisada French fries and they didn't disappoint.
Very generous servings. Will def come back for that home cooked meal feeling!
We went in for the first time per a recommendation and we very pleasantly surprised. The chicharrón and egg was excellent. Mindy our server was very cheerful and welcoming. We will definitely be back. I totally recommend it.
I've never had bad enchiladas. The sauce is on point and always fresh. Been treated politely and I go about twice a month.
