If you like sushi (and I know a lot of people don't), you should definitely give Kumori a chance. It's tucked in tightly within the shops of Alamo Ranch; which makes it a great place to grab a bite if you're out shopping in that area. They have a very diverse menu of sushi, tepenyaki and and poke bowls to choose from. The dining area is dimly lit with a nice, easy listening play list in the background. What surprised me the most was that there was a bar in here as well. It's divided from the main dining area, which is nice. There are not many cozy places to grab a drink in this area outside of the chain restaurants nearby. The bar has some good selections, and there's a TV if you want to watch a game or just meet up with someone to hang out for a while. The food was great! We had three different rolls, and all were delicious. The miso soup is remarkable and you'll probably want more of it. The service was friendly and attentive as well. Definitely don't underestimate Kumori when you're in the area...I'll definitely be coming back.

Solid 4 stars. Food quite good for Japanese in Texas (hard to come by lets be honest). Service was absolutely stellar, really involved and even wanted feedback on newer items and were really open to listening. We've had places ask for feedback before then be rude, they were very kind and polite when we offered mixed feedback on a new drink on the menu (it wasn't bad, we just offered some ways it could be improved). Service was 10/10. Some of the best we've had in the whole San An area tbh. The food was pretty great, I am pretty picky with Japanese food cause I've spent time in Japan but it was pretty nice for an American Sushi joint. Good hot sake. I could have used a touch hotter (but I also want it to all but burn off cells in my throat so I want it hotter than most). Overall, was quite excellent, would go again. Hubby and son weren't that impressed with the decor (I thought it was fine) so that's why atmosphere I gave a three. Again though, would be happy to do another dinner here.

Our ONLY complaint is that it’s it wayyyy to dark in the restaurant. Us and we saw others, had to use our phone flashlight to read the menu Our server, Karla, was soooo sweet and attentive! She gave us great recommendations and made sure we were satisfied with our food. We ordered quite the spread. First, we had the spicy edamame and the gyoza. Both very delicious. We ordered 4 rolls: Kanki, Angel, Kobore, and the Maui Wowie. The kinda all tasted the same, but we loved them all. They were so fresh and made beautifully. We also ordered the Spicy Teriyaki Combination Udon. The beef and shrimp had great flavor but the sliminess of the noodles I couldn’t handle. Karla advised us that the combination of the sauce and the texture of the noodles is what makes them slimy. Maybe good for someone, but not for me. Overall, 5 stars! We love Kumori. The food is always on point!

My husband and I were wanting sushi but wanted to try a new spot. Kumori was down the street and did not disappoint. The inside has a chill and modern design. The menu provided so many options: apps, sushi, bowls, salads, everything! Our server’s name was Victoria and she was wonderful. She gave us some great recommendations (Fiji roll and rock shrimp roll — YUM!), made sure everything came out delicious, and that our drinks were always full. I also just have to give kudos to the fact that Kumori uses biodegradable straws!!

The menu at Kumori has something for everyone, including vegetarians and diners who are not in the mood for sushi. We shared some tempura veggies for the table and each had our own rolls with rice and noodles to share. The lighting was quite low and it was a bit loud (several families had children with them) but the experience was overall pleasant. The servers might have been overwhelmed as service was a little slow but that allowed us to talk and linger and enjoy the company. Overall, this is a nice place for dinner and I would recommend them.

I am not a sushi lover so I can't speak to that, but I can speak to my chicken lovers. This restaurant offers a Teriyaki Chicken bowl that comes with vegetables and steamed rice! They serve this bowl in a lunch portion for close to 11$ or a dinner portion. The atmosphere is laid back and not too busy. The customer service the first time was rude but the second time around the server was extremely nice and helpful!

Short version: Comparable to Sushi Zushi but other establishments offer more bang for your buck. Food was good but really over priced all around - you're paying for the atmosphere for sure. That said, I think this would be a good date spot. Our service was a little slow (about a 15-20min wait upon ordering) for what we ordered (San Antonio Roll & Fuji/Fiji* Roll). I usually order nigiri but decided to pass this time because, again: really over priced. Upon receiving the roll I noticed the cuts of fish were really thin so you're mostly getting rice and filling. If I didn't love maki so much, I probably wouldn't have rated as highly as I did honestly.

1st thing they do is bring you soup gratis. Good wine. I had the dragon roll, very good. If you live near Alamo Ranch stop in you won’t be disappointed! We’ll be going back.

Me and my boyfriend were seated quickly. You can see all the grubhub people waiting for their orders. And as soon as we got seated the waitress mentioned that they were backed up in their sushi because of all the orders they were getting and that it was a 45minute wait. We appreciated that the restaurant gave us the opportunity to choose to wait or go somewhere else. We have noticed that many restaurants will just seat you and not say that their kitchen is backed up, and end up having angry/frustrated customers. So please continue to encourage your waiters to give realistic wait times. It is appreciated. Plaza roll was my favorite! Especially that chili sauce they give you on the side. I would ask for an extra one. Dragon roll was delicious and the kumori special roll was okay. Food tasted fresh and the fried spicy calamari was good. We will definitely be back.
