My family and I have been going to Phoenix for almost 10 years now. It's a staple restaurant for us to eat at with family and friends! We order off the Chinese family style menu. Best authentic Chinese food in town! Customer service is always spot on with accomadating our large parties. Thank you for the years of service and delicious food!
Every time I go I'm impressed with their service & the food is always on point! Very good portions & excellent iced tea that they just keep on pouring into my glass. Give 'em a try!
I had sent a message asking about Dim Sum, they replied very quickly and said weekend was the best time to try so went last Sat and was not disappointed. Service was quick and friendly, our cups stayed full with drinks and I think we tried only a third of the Dim Sum menu but were very full and very happy. Will be returning in the near future. Best Dim Sum we have been able to find in San Antonio.

Very quick delivery! Two plates, with soup each and crab meat rangoon came out to $21 before tip (probably including delivery fee already). Packaging for delivery was very good, nothing was messy!
their food is just a tad too salty. or could be from not putting salt on my food before I eat, I just got the taste of too much soy sauce other than that it was good
My boyfriend and I ordered the pepper steak and general s chicken with fried rice and sweet and sour soup. It wasnt bad. Wasnt expecting to much but I loved that its family owned and close by. Better than all the other Chinese places I've tried in SA.

WOW!!. At first glance this place seems unimpressive. Just another typical Chinese joint here in SA. However the staff are great, warm and welcoming. The Chinese menu here is extensive. Puts a lot of Chinese places here to shame. I got to try some dim sum which is awesome. Got some sui mai and a few others. Their dim sum is a rival for the only other dim sum place I know of in town (Golden Wok). Though they seem to have many more items that GW does not have. I also got to try their beef broccoli the Chinese version which has Chinese broccoli not the American variety and it was just fantastic. Their Spicy Sezchuan steak is top notch. Tender flavorful and the heat is just right. Their roasted duck was just WOW! Probably the best duck I've had in texas. Makes me want to try their peking duck the next time I go here. Their congee is also pretty good. I got to try the one with chicken and mushrooms in it. Over all I really liked this place. Good food, good service, just made me want to go for seconds.
Mom n Pop at it's Best!. This is the real deal place for authentic Chinese food! Mom and dad run and manage the place and son Jimmy, interpets and make sure you leave happy.
The crispy whole flounder is very good, and the short ribs are a joy to eat.

Bring an Asian friend who can help you order off the authentic Chinese menu. Phoenix cafe is probably the best authentic Chinese restaurant in San Antonio (slightly better than Kim Wah).
We went on a recommendation and it was fantastic! We had heard that the Peking Duck cooked 3 ways was a good option, so that was where we started ($26 for 2 people). We were going to order some other things too and the waiter looked at us funny and said it would be a good idea to wait on the extras, he was right! The meal started with a perfectly spiced traditional Peking Duck with pancakes, onion and sauce. The pancakes are filling but the dish works better with their texture and touch of sweetness. Next was the soup made with the duck bones and flavored with five spice. The final dish was a dish with small pieces of duck, green pepper and bean sprouts with a flavorful sauce, my wife thought this was the best part of the meal while I liked the first course best. It is BYOB with no corkage fee. By far the best Chinese we have eaten in San Antonio.
Solid Food. We order take-out from here all the time. Dishes off the more authentic chinese menu are better than dishes off the "americanized" menu, but can honestly find things I like off both.
Our absolute favorite is the wonton soup (#1 off the chinese menu) -the broth is tasty and the wontons are filled with large, plump shrimp...sooo good. Other tasty dishes: singaporen style noodles, lemon chicken, mongolian triple, sesame beef, and crispy duck.
The fried rice is just okay, needs more flavor. Overall, this place offers solid food, which keeps us coming back.
This place had good food and fast friendly service. They also have lunch and dinner specials from 11:00-5:00 and includes soup, egg roll AND crabmeat rangoon! We both ate for less than 25 bucks!
Lots of Food. Been here many times and recently for Father's Day and sat at one of big round tables with a lazy susan and ordered the dinner for 10 and the food just kept coming and coming. For what you get for the price, this place is a great deal.
Love them. I have been going to this place since 2009 and dont really go anywhere else for chinese food. I have tried others and regretted it. They will make the food the way you like it and I like spicy but not too spicy and they always do what I ask. They will also add ingredients and take them out if you wish. The staff is great and there is a large asian customer base, which is a good sign. Lunch specials are really cheap and they always give you a lot. The ribs on the appetizer menu are just wonderful and I wish I could make that sauce, b/c I'd be a millionaire! Go eat here and enjoy!
Came in while having an oil change done next door. Came in at 3pm, quiet in the place, got seated right away. Got ny order in 5 minutes - very fast! Had the Hunan Beef Lunch Combo (lunch specials until 5pm!). Excellent food, right spicy profile! Best Chinese food I've had in San Antonio!
Good food. Eat here at least once a week for lunch. The food and soup always taste good and the prices are very reasonable. Love the fried dumplings and general chicken.
Authentic, but don't order the lunch special. Been here 3x. The only time I was disappointed was when I came with a big group, some ordered lunch special. I tried it and it was nothing compared to their regular menu, it didn't taste fresh!

REASONABLY PRICED GOOD CHINESE FOOD. I have had their Singaporean Style Vermicelli, Seafood Fried Rice Noodle, Spicy Chicken and Shrimp lunch special and Yellow Leek stir fried with Fish, Their Wonton soup is to die for. The lady to serve us is very attentive. The price is very reasonable. You get a lot of food for the money. The food is not out of this world, I have taste much better but you can not be too choosy for Chinese food in San Antonio. I definitely will be back.
Delicious and authentic Chinese food. waitstaff was very friendly. My favorite was the salt and pepper pork and garlic snow pea leaves, but the egg drop soup was yummy and steamed dumplings. Highly recommend!

Decent food for the price. My wife and I have ordered here a few times and have always been happy with the food. Some dishes are a bit generic, but the service is friendly, which counts for a lot.
Good Food, Good Prices. Wide menu variety including Dim Sum! Generous portions. Good food. Reasonable prices. I understand the restaurant has another more detailed and authentic menu upon request. Don't let the plain decor, lighting and location fool you.
New owners newly remodeled jalapeño beef spicy and delicious. Hot and sour soup good got the cheese Rangoon with the spicy sauce. Food is different than before and 100x better!

I love the music and atmosphere. Staff is friendly and very clean. I had the Sesame Chicken and Dad had the Mongolian beef. My Mom had Cashew chicken! So good! The best I ever tasted in San Antonio. I will never eat Chinese food anywhere else! 😍 I highly recommend having lunch or dinner here!

The atmosphere and customer service was really nice. The food was amazing and the food came out so fast. Mrs. Mary is a wonderful person and was very kind throughout my entire stay. I would love to eat here again. I am a college student and it sometimes is not that good with money, but this place was great if you want somewhere to eat great Chinese authentic food and for a low price and a bunch of great delicious food then this is the best place you can ever come to.
Wow! Amazing quality and seasoned to perfection. You can see the passion in their work. I'll definitely be coming back.

Since I've moved here, only one other restaurant had better Egg Foo Yung and it was technically in Converse, so THIS IS THE BEST IN SA.
I had Thanksgiving dinner here with my family recently, and everything was perfect. The restaurant is under new management, and it shows. The place is very clean, well-lit and pleasant. The new owners are very nice people and provide excellent service. On top of that, the food is great, nice portions and variety. I would highly recommend Phoenix Cafe to anyone seeking Chinese food for take out or dine-in.

We frequently visited @phoenix_chinese_cafe prior to the pandemic. This is our first time to visit since it changed management.
My husband and I both had unsweet tea. We were looking forward to having the Peking Duck 3 ways and was hoping it was as good as before. The 3 ways includes (1) primarily the skin with some meat into the bun with hoisin sauce and scallions, (2) soup with some duck meat, and (3) stir fried duck. Everything was very flavorful. Unfortunately, the hoisin sauce was a bit salty rather than sweet. We ordered the Shrimp with Walnuts, which was good. The Congee with Fish was for Dad but I think he enjoyed most of the other food and didn't have room for the congee. It's a very large bowl! My husband tried some and said it was tasty. We took lots of leftovers home. Sue made sure our drinks were constantly full.

I love Phoenix Chinese. Always friendly staff, great food, awesome owners. Taz one of the owners is sweet, always smiling and so so friendliest man I've ever met.
The portions and prices are current to the economy. I see someone complained about less food but higher prices. Every restaurant in SA has higher prices and smaller portions. You want a bigger portion prefer the dinner plate.
Great atmosphere great place to dine in for lunch. Beautiful music and ambience.

I've eaten here a few times now and it's definitely a hidden gem in SA. The food always comes out hot and fresh and I love how nice the atmosphere is. The staff is very polite and overall service has been awesome. Give this place a shot the next time you're craving Chinese in SA!
Beef stew is delicious. Tender beef and flavorful broth. Seafood pan fried noodles made to perfection. Beef noodle with bell pepper in black bean sauce is also very good.
My wife and I went to this restaurant to have a dinner tonight. It was a very pleasant experience. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and had a very friendly atmosphere. The owner and his wife welcomed us with a warm smile and showed us our table. We ordered three items; Congee with Beef, Beef Fried Rice and today’s special, Walnut Shrimp. All three items were very delicious and the prices were very reasonable. I was full but I kept on eating; couldn’t stop myself. Now I know why San Antonio Express News said that it was an excellent restaurant. If you like to have an excellent lunch or dinner and don’t want to sell your kidney for it then I suggest that you try this restaurant.
