The food is so delicious. And the coffee and sweet tea also. I have had caldo de res and it is loaded with veggies and a lot of res. My husband has ordered tacos and they are always packed and delicious. No complains here all good from the waiters to the food.
Love this place, I've been coming here since I was a kid. Still good and running, I recommend you check out this place if you're on the south side by Theo & malone @ Nogalitos. 👌

Overall, after many unrelated restaurant interruptions, the ladies working this morning were very nice and understanding.
The breakfast and lunch specials are reasonably priced and the food is stacked on and plentiful.
I took some food to go to share with friends and family.
I appreciate great service and this morning these ladies went above and beyond.
I wasn't able to take photos of my food today due to extenuating circumstances, but it just gives me more reason to return now.
So a return visit is already in the works.
Oh, and the Huevos Rancheros breakfast plate special was Super loaded with food and there was a huge surprise when I cut into my eggs,

Great neighborhood place to grab a bite, and the coffee was tasty and not watered down.
And masks are required and social distancing is in effect.
Tables are also spaced out and closes off for this purpose.

Don't sleep on this gem of a restaurant. Everything is amazing the prices are even better. Some of the best enchiladas I've had in a very long time. Lots of parking shaded patio for outside dining.
Best "Lil" Mexican Restaurant in San Antonio. Huevos Rancheros on that crispy corn tortilla, omg to die for! Well worth the waiting time. Excellent service!
Food was good. Had a party of eight. All of the family enjoyed their food. I had a bowl of chicken soup and that thing was huge. Been there a few times. I will continue eating there. Thanks to the staff for good service and good food. 09-18-22 went again yesterday with my wife and her friend. Food and service was great.

UPDATE....visited location again....service is not very good....food is not as good but acceptable....server confused orders between tables....will probably not return
The food is great the prices are even better I gave it four stars because they burn my tortillas and I didn't have time to wait for fresh ones. That is usually not how they come out

Used to go to this place as a child with my parents very frequently. Went again recently after several years without a visit. I enjoyed it just like the good ol days. Great food, great prices, great service.
My father passed away three years ago and loved coming to la cocina. When I am here I feel close to my father. I can see why this was his favorite restaurant. The ladies are awesome and friendly. The food never disappoints me. The prices are very reasonable. I will always be regular customer. Thanks,
