This is one of my favorite movie theaters to go to because of the kinds of movies they show here which are usually art house films. Seating is really nice as is the newly renovated lobby area. The service is excellent and the staff are always friendly and helpful. All in all I always get a great feeling at the Bijou and have a wonderful movie watching experience.

This is my favorite theater. It's quiet, uncrowded with a nice seating area to have a drink before or after your movie. The food is wonderful, especially by movie theater standards. They are often the only place showing independent and documentary films the week they come out and I appreciate them so much for that. Parking is really easy and free!

I have been going to this theater for over 15 years. I will gladly drive across town to go there. I particularly enjoy the man playing the keyboards. I have talked with him and he is very talented and is a joy to speak to. This theater is unique in all of San Antonio. The crowd is mostly older and mellow. The prices are a bit high but the service is excellent. If you don’t like it, please don’t come back. This theater is a jewel. Not for everyone but with luck you will mature and enjoy it as much as the rest of us.

Considerable improvements have been made. Always liked the place, but the seats are much more comfortable now, and I appreciate the better, more attentive service as well. Pretty good wines available for a movie theater. Nice place to escape to and see something that most other theaters in the city don't have lined up.

It was great to see Cyrano on the big screen here after a long time away. The Bijou offers beer and wines, as well as popcorn and other theater snacks. Chairs are oversized and comfy and have a table to place food items.

The new seats are very comfortable, everything seemed fresh and new and we were told that the continuing plans for updating the theater include a nice bar and an improved restaurant. The staff was very friendly, and there were people at every station, unlike some theaters which seem like a ghost town. If there is a movie that gets great reviews, but you can't find it anywhere, try the Bijou. They show art movies, foreign films as well as top rated popular films. We love the Bijou, hope you will give it a try.

The theatre always looks clean. The movies are most often top notch. There's usually a man playing a piano in the lobby, but he wasn't there tonight and I missed him. There were no paintings by local artists on the walls, and I missed those, too. The employees are kind and very efficient. We left laughing tonight, and the employees that told us good night laughed with us as we were leaving - which was endearing.

*Update*
The Bijou has been renovated. They have what look like crystal chandeliers in the lobby, it looks really good. I didn't mention this in my last review but on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays in the evenings, they have a piano player in the lobby which adds a touch of class. They no longer have art for sale lining the hallway. I'm not sure why, I hope they start that again. They also replaced the seats in the theaters. They look like leather seating and it's very comfortable but they don't recline. You now press a button for service which is easier because you don't have to rely on the standing paper being seen by the server.
We saw The Darkest Hour. I liked it more than I thought I would. The wait staff is hit or miss. Tonight, they were slow to take orders. Once they came around it was all good. We and the people in the row behind us, had issues with someone constantly checking their cell phone. I told Jason and he was very helpful. He sent an usher in and she waited until she caught them, it was only a few minutes. From that point on they left the theater to check their phone. Thanks Jason. You made watching the movie better for everyone.

Theater was clean, quiet and well-staffed. Restrooms were clean and well cared for. No ugly odors either. I ordered food once i got to my seat. Service was prompt and efficient. Food was tasty and at a correct temperature. I will come back to this theater for sure!

Many Santikos theaters in San Antonio recently underwent a major renovation. New leather reclining seating was installed, grand entry lobbies now welcome guests, and film memorabilia lines their halls. The Bijou is no exception and it also received an overhaul. But it didn't need one. It didn't need anything. The Bijou is the best theater in San Antonio regardless of appearance because the true quality of a theater is not measured by its amenities, but by the quality of the films screened and staff on call. The staff at the Bijou are as friendly and welcoming as you will find. They never fail to make you comfortable. And the films are on another level. The Bijou features foreign films, independent films, obscure cinema, classic cinema, creativity, and inspiration. In short, quality films. If the Bijou ever closes, San Antonio will lose its best movie theater, and maybe it's only venue that truly represents not just movies, but cinema as a whole. Bijou is the best.

SO MUCH BETTER since they remodeled. The theater no longer smells like a nasty locker room. The seats are nice. The theaters smell new. The food here is actually pretty good. The burgers are great. I have to take away a star because our waitress was not on top of things. We ordered a burger with fries and extra catsup. She only gave us 1 catsup pack. We like catsup on our burger and with our fries. My son had to get up and request from the kitchen. They have unique, Indie films here and exclusive showings. I like that they frequently show foreign films.

This place is special at it plays a lot of the movies that the larger cinemas won't. Think critically acclaimed, and films with more nominations than the Blockbuster kind of movies have. The setup is cozy but charming. Small theatres with food service, although I'm not a fan of ordering food as the service usually is confusing, and no one told me I was expected to ring a buzzer to order so that was a bit annoying. Food is good, weird to eat in the dark but nonetheless a tasty experience.
I honestly don't need any other movie theatre in San Antonio.
I'll always love you, The Bijou!

Located inside Wonderland of the America's. A small theatre all things considered but super vintage and a cute experience. My boyfriend and I went to Demon Slayer for date night and it was super cute. The seats are made of leather and smell sooooo good. 10/10 reccomend

We’ve been going to the Bijou theatre for almost 10 years, and it’s a hidden gem. As members of TPR Cinema Tuesdays, we’ve enjoyed the summer series of indie & foreign films and the exceptional service here. Stanley was our first exceptional server, and Sierra continued the tradition. We can always count on wonderful films, with great service and tasty food and beers. We greatly look forward to the new renovations, and do let us know when the kitchen & bar renovations are complete. Cheers!
