This was our eclectic restaurant find for this trip. My son had gone here before so he knew what to expect but it was a surprise to me. A small venue covered with personalized license plates from all over the country. Basically, a burger and malt shop with a few additional offerings. The burgers are huge and flavorful so be prepared. I ordered a single but could have easily been comfortable with a mini burger. The malts are great but a little heavy on the malt powder in my opinion. The fries are like potato wedges and onion rings are nice and crispy. The waiter was very friendly and helpful.
Hodad’s in OB (Ocean Beach) is a must for burger enthusiasts! Warning, do not get the double it’s GIGANTIC. I had a hard enough time eating the single and the wife got the mini. Giant portions of tomatoes and onions. Bacon is cooked to perfection. Only complaint is the onion rings had no flavor. There was more breading than onion and the ranch was tangy and not ranch. No Coke products only Pepsi. Ambiance is definite punk surfer vibes. Kid friendly. Really close to the beach to walk off the massive burger you just ate! Great place to chill grab a shake and eat a 🍔!
This is a fun location right near the beach. Delicious burgers, fries, onion rings, and shake. Casual laid-back atmosphere is great for families out just to hang out and eat.
We tried this place for lunch today after hearing so much hype. We really enjoyed our experience. I say experience because it was a lot of fun!
We had about a twenty minute wait in line, which wasn’t bad considering we arrived around 1pm. When we got to the front of the line we were seated at the counter facing the street and it was perfect for us.
We ordered two meals: the mini bacon cheeseburger with everything on it and the Guido. Both were delicious! We had one small order of wedge fries and one small order of onion rings. Both cooked to crispy perfection! The portions were large and we weren’t able to finish our food. We also ordered a strawberry shake with malt in it. So, so good! Definitely highly recommend this fun spot. I loved my mini bacon cheeseburger!!
We were given some Hodads stickers at the counter when we paid our tab.
Looking for a great and reasonably priced burger? ! Your less then a block away from the beach. Had great service from the moment we walked through the door. Everyone on staff was attentive to all of their tables and helped with picking out the rights beers from there home selection. Food was a large portion for what you pay. Will definitely be back. Thank you for the over stuffed tummy!
We went on a Friday night around 7 and were prepared to stand in line, but there wasn't one. We were actually seated right away. Our server was prompt with the drink order and bringing us waters as well. She even gave me samples of 2 beers so I could make a better decision. We both had the bacon cheese burgers, which were juicy and delicious, cooked to perfection. My hubby had the rings, and I had the fries. I love their crunchy onion rings and tasty fries. We both also had beers, which were delicious. We always come back here whenever we are in OB.
The go to for burgers in San Diego. Every other burger place should take a page out of their book. Waited in line for them to open and we were sat quickly and the service was prompt and very friendly. Food tasted amazing and was fresh and hot. I would highly recommend going here!
There was a wait to dine-in but it was worth it. The food was delicious, portions were generous, and best of all not overpriced. Service was excellent and our waiter was so friendly and down to earth. I think his name was Ethan. The free Hodad’s stickers upon receiving our receipt were an unexpected bonus. The only downside was parking is limited and can be expensive.
One of the best burger places in California, the flavors and textures are well balanced and blends very goood with the juices and sauce of the burger. We tried the double bacon cheeseburger (carefull is huge!) and it is delicious. Also mentioning the onion rings which are tasty and the selection of beers.
One of the best burgers in California! Anytime I am in SD this is a must stop! For those who have smaller stomachs their mini burgers are perfect meal while their regular size burgers can feed two people! Onion rings are delicious and they have fat fries! Beer is also on tap! They have a cool interior filled with license plates and great old school rock music! I love HoDads!
