I am an artist in San Diego and this place has absolutely amazing and incredible foods!!! This is the only Russian style resturant I ever go to in San Diego to eat not kidding this is my favorite place because it is truly the best. I have ate many Russian styles foods and when I would travel to New York and when I was living in Los Angeles and this is my favorite place besides places in New York. Seriously the foods are addicting especially the borsht soup. Literally the best borsht soup you will find in the San Diego area. So glad I found this place years ago and now living in San Diego I love coming to eat here! Russian Foods is my favorite to eat. The owners, and workers who work here are absolutely wonderful and such nice and great, hard working people and very professional. This place makes you feel at home. I love everyone here because they show the respect and are nice and this place makes me feel it is like my second home. Inside it is beautiful looking and very cozy. I highly recommend this and I will never get tired of this place, much love to everyone at this resturant!

2nd time there, love it. Had the relish salad sampler, pierogis, and melted cheese bread bowl for starters, and washed it down with a bottle of vodka. Family ordered the stroganoff, kabobs, and lamb, all outstanding. Great beer, ambiance, and service. We had a great evening!

Great food in a casual setting. The Borst is excellent, dumplings delicious and Golubtsi is a good dish to share as well. Be sure to this restaurant if you are looking for a great Russian-Georgian meal.

As usual our favorite Georgian dishes were spectacular. From our outstanding waitress to our spicy eggplant appetizer to the huge Georgian dumplings and pork steak, we are always satisfied and yearning for our next visit back. There's nothing like this restaurant in other parts of CA.

The food was great. When you are in a group get the salad plate and the cheesy bread (Brie mozzarella and a raw egg that cooks into custard right in front of you. The very borscht was very tasty as well. Lamb chops awesome.

Amazing! The food was impeccable, but definitely felt like home cooking. Atmosphere is quirky. There are some fun little surprises on the drink menu. Super reasonably priced with the most amazing service I probably have had in a long time. Never had to ask for anything. They were constantly clearing the table of dirty dishes and napkins and bringing clean replacements and water was always there when you went looking for it. Could not believe how reasonable it was to get that level of service and quality of food.

So pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this food. Everything from the dill butter for the bread to the honey cake dessert was truly delicious. You know that slightly drunk feeling you get when you've had a really good meal? I'm feeling that now :)

Stopped in with the lad himself, rising ten years, to pick up some take-away fried meat dumplings. Great experience, we'll be back with missus to check out the rest of the menu.

This place was recommended by my son. This is Russian/ Georgian food and it WAS DELICIOUS šŸ˜‹!!!!! I RECOMMEND the Lobio which is red beans with walnuts and feta cheese. I had the Golubsi cabbage beef and pork rolls with a very tasty tomato cream sauce and sour cream. And please, let me not leave out EDDIE and his gorgeous eyes. This restaurant was very quiet, warm and appealing. Service was great!! I give Pomegranate 5 āāāā 's I highly recommend this place. Go on try!!šŸ˜‹

I had a great experience at Pomegranate. A Russian-Georgian restaurant. The service from Edwin was awesome. We had borscht, cheese boat bread (awesome), shared a stroganoff, honey cake with Turkish coffee. When in San Diego you need to try this place if you want great food. The pomegranate martini was delicious too.

So I have to say I was surprised. I was invited to this restaurant by a friend to eat beef stroganoff and I immediately thought "yeah I like hamburger helper". Let me tell you that the flavor far surpassed any expectations I had. I want to be clear that I have studied with foreign chefs, and I do have a well versed background in the kitchen in commercial/educational/private environments. I think that the basic dining experience of a "night out with a friend" is something that is easily expected from a place like this. Ultimately, I have not been disappointed l. Everything has the right amount of texture to suggest that it was made by hand, and the flavor profiles have multiple qualities to enjoy and consider. It's cultural food, that colonial Americans would likely identify with that many modern Americans may have never truly experienced.

Pomegranate is a Russian restaurant with unique decor. The first thing I noticed about the place is people have written all over the walls. The lighting is very soft with lots of seating indoors. The wait staff is very friendly. Our waitress took very good care of us. We had pierogies as an appetizer. They were very good. The filling was potato. I had the golubtsi as my main course which is beef and pork wrapped in cabbage in a tomato sauce. It was very good. I really enjoyed the tomato sauce coupled with the flavor of the meat. Portions are just right. I left the restaurant feeling satisfied. Not being familiar with Russian fare, Pomegranate gave me a great intro. Well done!

Definitely recommended going there for Georgian food. Tried a number of dishes, and all were really good. I did not like the atmosphere, not sure what design they were going for, but randomly scribbled walls do not make a nice impression. A fresh coat of paint would do wonders.

I've spent quite a bit of time in Russia and there was alot of Georgian Restaurants there as well. This is just as good as the places I had in Russia and I highly recommend you come here. The Borscht, Adjaruli Kachapuri, and pelmeni were very tasty and I'll be back for more.

I've been wanting to try this Russian place for awhile, And I'm glad I finally got to. I seen the bread with the cheese in the middle and they add a raw egg into the hot cheese and stir it quickly right from the table. It was so delicious. They had several different dumplings that we tried and they were also very very good. My main dish I got the stroganoff with the pasta, but I should have gone with the traditional mashed potatoes for preference. The pear soda was unique but tasted really good. All in all if you want to try something new then I recommend this place.

Service was quick. I didn't get regular check-up but the servers were pleasant. I had the Beef Stroganoff it was delicious. Very earthy, very good. I was planning on having the Babushka Surprise, but was too full! Of all the more "upscale" stuff I had while on my trip this was what did not let me down. If I ever come back I'll definitely return! I had the Natakhtari "pear flavored" drink and it was amazing. Eating alone, eating with a date, or family i can see this being a very good restaurant for all.

New review: I came here again and this time feels even more delicious than the last time. We had a special appetizer which has five giant meat soup dumplings, they are amazingly delicious! The salad platter, 5 different salad, superb! The lamb chops plates, nice grilled and delicious flavor, with rice and veggies on the side. And the cabbage wrapped meats, very very nice, the creamy tomato sauce is insanely good. Nothing left at the end because everything is so perfect. Previous review: I read how awesome this place is when the first several months I moved in San Diego. And after two years, we finally are here, with our friends who visit from Texas. The foods here are amazing! The service is so nice too. I will recommend Adjaruli Khachapuri at the first place, it is a must have. Also I love their Chakapuli, the lamb meat is so soft and off the bone. We also enjoyed the classic Borsht soup. For drinks, if you mention the YouTuber #TravelDeeper, you will get complimentary horseradish shots. But! Be careful.... I think 99% the people canā€™t handle that. For me, it made me tearing... I felt like drinking wasabi shot. I love their Georgian house red wine tho. Overall, I love here.

One of the few places that you can get quality eastern European food and drinks. While a bit pricey the quality is hard to beat.

In honor of my late mother, I bestow one of the highest honors she would ever give a restaurant: Mother Linda Approved (MLA). Exceptional food, atmosphere, and service! Bravo!

Iā€™m so glad I found this place! Their food was authentic and super delicious!! First time I had borscht was when I went to Russia a few years ago. I fell in love with the soup! But I couldnā€™t find it anywhere in So Cal. So when I found Pomegranate and saw that they serve the soup, I just had to try it out. And Iā€™m so glad I did! We also ordered the salad sampler, cabbage roll, medovik, and a couple other things. Everything was super delicious, and the service was fantastic! Definitely recommend!!

Went here for a big friends dinner - everything was amazing, cozy atmosphere and extra vodka shots to end the dinner. The salad sampler great start, pomegranate martinis and a few big shared plates so you can try as much as possible.

The food is excellent. Thereā€™s a nice selection of Eastern Europe dishes. The atmosphere is great, service is fast and friendly and prices are reasonable. Downside is parking - thereā€™s nothing available as the street is always packed and spaces are minimal.

One of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. It's so unexpected. Pomegranate defied my reservations about Russian cuisine with an outstanding dining experiences. If you have never been you must try, The beet salad, flavorful soup dumplings, and options like cabbage rolls and beef stroganoff left an indelible mark. Pomegranate is a hidden gem for those seeking an exceptional taste of Georgian Russian cuisine

What an absolutely amazing meal. It's a bit more on the expensive side, but man is it worth it. The cabbage rolls were just amazing, and the pork was cooked to perfection (hard and glazed on the outside, juicy on the inside). They also have an extensive cocktail menu. The vodka is rather exotic; ask for the homemade vodka flight and put your taste buds for a ride. The dessert we got, honey cake, was just stupid delicious too. We left full and extremely satisfied. Perfect for a date night.

Food was great. Love the flavored vodka shots. Service was friendly and very attentive. They check on you frequently. First time checking this place out. Parking is horrible but lucky enough a space became available for us.
