Just came back from a week long San Diego vacation. So glad we walked 4 blocks back to Crack Shack instead of dining at our initial restaurant choice! Beautiful patio, hilarious large chicken at the front and the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! Crispy, tasty, juicy chicken with 6 different types of sauces to select from. Not overly battered, not too salty, never dry, flavourful and good textured chicken. I do regret eating at Crack Shack because now that I’m back in Vancouver I will never be able to find good fried chicken anywhere!

Had a great experience at the Shack! It can get really busy & crowded, but we were there early & were able to get a spot in the shade on a very hot day. We brought an out-of-towner & ordered deviled eggs, the schmaltz fries (crazy good!), biscuits, chicken oysters (so tender!) & the fried chicken. It was all delicious, but the chicken was incredible - hot, juicy, crispy . . . Amazing!! This is not "fast food" in speed, quality or taste!! The chicken tasted fresh and cooked to order - worth every penny! (The bill came to $16 a person including soft drinks for all - great value!) We all, and especially our visitor loved the food and the restaurant's open air setting! Thanks, Richard Blais, for coming to San Diego!

Over the top amazing! As a serious fried chicken connoisseur and child of the South, the chicken was the best I’ve eaten in my 62 years!!! Bravo!

BEST PLACE EVER! Had the deviled eggs, and split two chicken sandwiches and the miso-healthy salad! Delicious! Great beer & wine list and delicious cookies, too. Staff was incredibly friendly & outside bar & patio was huge & shaded!

I prefer white meat and didn’t want 5 pieces of fried chicken, so I got the Baja chop salad with a substantial piece of fried boneless breast! It was great! Perfect! I got to try the fried chicken which was awesome and a beautiful fresh salad with guacamole. The chicken tastes like roasted or rotisserie chicken then deep fried with special seasonings. Really good, must try. The crazy thing was the restaurant is right under the airport flight path and planes fly very, very low right over your head every 15 minutes. That was an unexpected treat, un-nerving but exciting!

Great food and a big selection of beers. Wife had the Coop DeVille and I had the Firebird and fries were great. Son and his girlfriend had Malibu Barbies and Deviled eggs. Topped them off with some cold 805s and some laughs and it was a great evening. Got there about 6 and it was getting crowded. When we left about 730 there was 30-40 ppl waiting in line. Only negative was parking can be a bit of a hassle. Great place and would actually give it 4.8 because of the parking.

Alright, let's all be honest, it's REALLY easy for a place to screw up a chicken sandwich. The Crack Shack isn't that kind of place. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the seasoning was amazing, it had just the right amount of spice, and the fries that I got with them were a perfect pairing! The drinks here go really well with the food, too. Plus, I love that the place has an area for kids to play that's away enough from the bar so they won't disturb the guests. A must-stop if you're in little Italy!

There were mixed reviews from my husband and I when we visited this eatery during our SD vacation. We both got the Firebird sandwich and he seemed to love it while it was just not for me. The sauce seemed oily and flavorless. However, the chicken was juicy and tender. I wish they had a more varied menu. Overall I would recommend for the atmosphere, and I would need to go back to try other sandwiches!

One of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Cool atmosphere with corn hole, bug connect 4, a fire table and big TVs for sports. If you want a chill vibe with delicious chicken food, this place is great!

Visiting San Diego, before leaving we stopped at The Crack Shack, this place did not disappoint! Everything we ordered was very good and service was fantastic! I wished we have one at NorCal, hoping near future please! I had the power bowl, delicious, daughter had Coop DeVille, very delicious and moist, husband had the Firebird, he said it was awesome! We shareya side of fries, so crunchy and just the right amount of salty goodness. We tried all of their sauces, we specifically love love the pineapple mustard, I can drink that straight! We also tried their ube shake with cookie crumble, we got lucky, they only had one order left, this was so creamy and ubelicious! I'm glad we skipped breakfast and had this instead. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

First fried chicken sandwich from CS., $17+ for sandwich and fries. The batter was somewhat flavorless or less seasoned as expected or the slaw overwhelmed the batter. Chicken breast a bit dry for my standards. Good bun. Fries were good dipped in ranch. I’d say it was ok, but I still prefer Chick Fil-A I guess because the chicken is always tender and flavorful. 4 stars for portion and good service, atmosphere.

We ordered the Señor croque, the Reubenstein, and an order of biscuits. The Señor croque was delicious. I definitely recommend that one. The Reubenstein was pretty good but not quite as good as the Señor croque. The biscuits themselves were good, but the butter that came with them was terrible. It was described as miso-maple, but it would have been much better if it was some sort of honey butter. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Parking is on the street.

During my work visit to San Diego, I stumbled upon The Crack Shack, a local restaurant near my hotel, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! Despite ordering takeout, my experience was memorable from start to finish. The menu at The Crack Shack boasts a tempting array of dishes, and I couldn't resist trying their renowned fries. While they were slightly on the soggy side, I understand that takeout fries can be challenging to maintain their crispness. Nevertheless, the flavor and seasoning were spot-on, and they still managed to satisfy my craving. The Crack Shack's overall dining experience was exceptional, earning it a well-deserved five-star rating. The ambiance was vibrant, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the food, apart from the minor fry situation, exceeded my expectations. The restaurant exudes a casual and welcoming atmosphere that perfectly complements its delicious offerings. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend paying a visit to The Crack Shack. With its fantastic food, warm hospitality, and the understanding that takeaway fries may lose their crispness, this place is a gem that shouldn't be missed. I can't wait for another opportunity to return and explore more of their mouthwatering menu options!

The Crack Shack is a delicious all la carte Sandwich shop with 28 beers on draft and many taster cocktails. Atmosphere is a beautiful outdoor environment with plenty of seating and lots of shade. The staff are amazing and super friendly. I would highly recommend checking this place out. You won’t be disappointed. 🙌

Great service at the bar, delicious cocktails, the environment was fun and relaxed. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was pretty good- could have been spicier. I doused it in the Sriracha 1000 island, which was FIRE. Overall, I was happy with everything!

I had the Don Pancho special, and it was delicious. The fries are cooked in seasoning and chicken fat.... and although crispy and tasty I just couldn't eat many of them. Nice atmosphere.

Todays order was a Cali drip + avocado + fried onions and the biscuits with the bourbon maple butter…. absolutely delicious!!! This sandwich was my favorite so far, although I have enjoyed the double clucker. My kiddo always loves the chicken meal with carrots (or fries) and it comes with big cookies and apple juice with the price being incredibly reasonable. By far the best mini biscuits I’ve ever had, and chicken sandwiches!

We first came across this place in Las Vegas and were very excited knowing they had a local location in San Diego. We ended up ordering the same sandwiches, they are just that good. We shared the Firebird and Cali Drip with Shack Fries. Very delicious.

Don’t avoid this place like I did…I usually avoid Crack Shack because of the line. This place will require more than one visit because everything is so good. We tried a few different sandwiches and cut them in half. Worst part of this experience is sitting at the one table that has no shade cover.
