Great place with a good street side vibe. Erin was a pleasure, very much enjoyed her service. Food was very good but the Lasagna Special was the best thing we had.
Definately a great place to sit street side, eat, and drink a bottle of wine. Lots of choices in Little Italy and this is certainly a choice to consider.
After a long day of e-bike riding and exploring San Diego, we decided to head down to Little Italy for an Ice Cream shop. We found ourselves a little hungry and peeked in in several places but they just didn’t feel right which ultimately lead us to here. We set outside near the sidewalk and decided to split a pizza, salad, and appetizer. Both the food and service were excellent and we all commented that we had the best time here. We would certainly return and take advantage of more of their menu items.
One of the top Italian restaurant I have visit in the last 10 years, I came all the way from Canada to eat here .
The pasta and pizza were delightful, showcasing authentic flavors. The service was exceptional, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. The staff's and a specially the owner Mr.Vince so attentiveness and efficiency contributed to a positive impression.
Excellent Italian food at Nonna + Zuchero.
We visited Nonna on a Sunday evening at about 7PM.
The server who was waiting on us was very helpful and answered all the questions we had about the food we wanted to order.
We ended up ordering a salad (Rucola), a pasta dish (Gnocchi Al Pesto) & a pizza (Salsiccia, without sausage).
The salad was super fresh, but seemed slightly under seasoned.
The pasta dish was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in my life. The pasta tasted fresh, and the sauce was very tasty.
The pizza, similarly, was one of the best pizza experiences of my life. The crust was robust, the sauce was fresh, and the Calabrian chile and caramelized added a very different flavor to the pizza - all of the above worked very well together.
I would definitely come back here again in the future.
Cute location and atmosphere! We split wine and a prosciutto and burrata, which was delicious. The pasta was amazing and tasted so fresh. We didnt enjoy the tiramisu very much though, it was a good portion and not too expensive but it was dry. Service was pretty good though our server didn't know how to split the wine and we ended up having to try and figure out how to split it all. We eventually figured out something but it was a bit of a hassle. Overall great time!
Place is epic. The pizzas are extremely flavorful and authentic. Especially the, Salciccia pizza. It has calibrisi peppers only from Italy and the flavors are amazing on that one. Services good and the tables are so you can people watch on the main strip. The place is seemingly run by an old Italian guy who is legit and waits on tables himself. Absolutely! Some of the best pizza I've ever had.
Service was great and food was very flavorful. We had the gnocci fritta appetizer, focaccia, bianco pizza, tortellini funghi, and pomodoro pasta. I want to point out that I could actually taste the truffle oil in the tortellini (I’ve eaten at restaurants that say it has truffle, but I can’t taste it). Finished it off with strawberry cheesecake, tiramisu, and chocolate strawberry cake. The patio is dog friendly.
I think the food is okay, but it's more Italian-American than authentic Italian. Out of the stuff we ordered, I liked the eggplant parmigiana. They got our orders mixed up and almost charged us for 2 bruschettas when we only ordered 1.
Dinner here for my wife's birthday. Service and food were beyond over the top. Our waiter came and sang Happy Birthday in Italian to her. It was amazing. If you are in San Diego and looking for great food, definitely stop here.
I was a little taken aback or bummed out when we were not offered outdoor seating and then walked right through the main dining area, down a very narrow hallway (and we literally ran into someone exiting the kitchen) and into the back patio area. Wow was I mistaken. We found the area (captured in my photos) to be very nice. It's essentially an outdoor covered seating area with a ton of lights to brighten up the place which is naturally day lite during the daylight period.
Our server was Ana who couldn't have done anything better with her super delightful personality and her attention to detail.
Warning. There are 2 narrow hallways. One encompasses a unisex restroom, which appeared to be occupied each time we tried the door and the second hallway encompasses 2 dedicated restrooms. Like me you might suspect at first that they only have the one unisex restroom since there is no signage to clue you in.
It was funny that during our entire evening I noted how much "press" Nonna was getting ( staff shirts and aprons) but Zucchero was getting nothing. It wasn't until we were leaving that we took note that the pastry case (labeled as fantastic by my wife the extreme foodie) was banded for Zucchero inclusive of outdoor building signage.
The acoustics on the back patio was generally okay with a little bit of noise reverberation. The tricked out heavy timbers roof/ceiling treatment must help a ton.
