The greatly expanded menu was a great surprise! Loved all the new choices bordering on gourmet selections. Fabiola was an awesome waitress and made several appropriate suggestions which we appreciated. Kiki, the manager, was friendly and appreciative of our comments. Overall a very positive experience. Can't wait to try it again.
I live this place i have been coming for years. And i have been going more becuase of the staff, they are friendly and fun. I think Cesar is an amazing waiter. His personality and service is far above any place in hillcrest! So if you don't just gone for the food make sure you atleast day Hi to Cesar!
Crest Cafe is fantastic! It was off my yummy list for a while, but they have really turned that place around. The service is fantastic (thank you Pablo) and the food is wonderful and offered from a really large creative menu!!
Please treat yourself to an amazing breakfast at this place. Pancakes and French Toast are simply delicious!
We love eating at Crest Cafe in Hillcrest.....the food, service, and ambiance is outstanding. Not to mention the deserts and ice cream. A great community restaurant with quality, attitude, and just pure joy.

Every time in has been great. The food and the service is the best!!
The service is great and the food is amazing! The Butter burger is to die for!!
This adorable cafe is so much fun visually, but that's just the start... their chefs are amazing with everything they turn out. Personally, my favorite things are on the breakfast menu! Thank you to all the wonderful wait staff that make every customer feel special. <3
Ruben and I are thankful for our family and friend who came to our celebration of life for my Dad Luis Moreno. We greatly appreciated your kind words and love. We are honoring him by continuing to work hard and provide the best possible meals and hospitality. We are celebrating our 35th year in Hillcrest!
We always enjoy the food and service at Crest. The biggest challenge is finding a parking place, bot that's just Hillcrest.
We went for breakfast. It is a smaller old fashioned looking dinner with both indoor and outdoor seating. We split a vegetarian omelet with added spinach. Of course you have to get the hash browns. The service was great. The food came out quick, hot, and already split on two plates (nice touch). This is one of good breakfast places in the area.
The food was tasty! I got the greasy spoon vibes here. I also really loved my espresso drink, which was a unique white chocolate almond. I would say that the reason I may not come back was the vibes of the place and the service was spotty. Esp for the prices of things.
Woke up this morning and saw this Cafe on Diners Drive Ins and Dives we knew we had to stop in and get the Crème Brûlée French Toast. Heath was our server and was so kind and helpful. The food tasted as good as it looked, overall a new favorite and will come back again!
This place was great, had the place to ourselves for dinner on a Friday night.
Had the burger and it was pretty tasty, we just mentioned to the waiter we were gonna share and he brought it out split on two plates, which was really nice. He was attentive and refilled our drinks on time the whole time.
There’s paid street parking on the perpendicular street.
This place is a regular spot for me, especially when I'm in that part of town, usually for breakfast. The prices are a bit higher than some others, but not unreasonably so.
My go-to orders are typically The Works with pancakes. If I'm feeling a variation, I opt for the Cafe Eggs dish, essentially an egg croissant sandwich. Both options are reliable, and you can't go wrong with either. The service is friendly, and they've even remembered my preferred orders from previous visits—excellent personalized service.
However, I have one complaint regarding the Cafe Eggs croissant dish. The option of fresh fruit, which used to be included, is now an extra charge. It would be great if they could bring back this option as part of the dish.
This place is a regular place for me when I'm in that area of town. Usually for breakfast. Price is a bit higher than others but not unreasonable.
I usually get either The Works with pancakes. If I don't order this dish, I order the Cafe Eggs dish which is basically an egg croissant sandwich. You can't go wrong with either choice; but don't limit yourself to those choices. The service here is friendly and I've had no issues; in fact they know what I like to order from my previous visits. That's some good personalized service. I only have one complaint, on the Cafe Eggs croissant dish. I would have the choice of fresh fruit. That option has been eliminated as an included side and is now a paid extra. This would be a great thing to restore to the restaurant.
Outstanding service. The vibe is warm, friendly and welcoming. My server James was brilliant, navigating a very busy section efficiently and cheerfully. The veggie breakfast mess was delicious with a thick rich veggie chili with garbanzos and kidney beans garnished with incredibly fresh pico de Gallo, served over breakfast potatoes. It was hearty, spicy and delicious.

Not only is this place super cute and fun looking, the servers that were there were great as well. I got the Ortega Scrambler with hash browns and tortillas. The hash browns were perfectly crispy and the peppers in the eggs were absolutely scrumptious. My girlfriend got the Angus Beef Hash which she loved. Eggs were perfectly over easy and the meat was really good. Fruit tasted super fresh and sweet. Definitely recommend having a stop if youre in Hillcrest
Outstanding....had breakfast quesadilla.....too big, but took it away for later. Great neighborhood. Highly recommend.....
Great restaurant to grab a bite with good food and service, would definitely come back again!
This place is amazing. Everything I have ordered has been super tasty. The customer service is great, the food is always made quickly and it’s always been super tasty. They have indoor and outdoor patio dining. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner this place is worth going out of the way for.
Our server James was AWESOME!!!! On top of being very kind, I am handicapped and he moved furniture so i could get my walker thru to the restroom. He also saw me having trouble getting into my car in front of the restaurant and came out and helped! Never met a server like him! He is a valuable employee and a keeper!!!
Stumbled upon Crest and so glad we did. Absolutely amazing food. Maybe one of the best breakfasts I've ever had... bar none. Absolutely incredible dishes. Server was fun and friendly and food was fast, hot and remarkably tasty. I'm in town for a couple more days and I'm going back tomorrow.
😀Truly felt like a homemade tasty breakfast with fresh ingredients. Comfort food that's good quality. Overall a great experience ❤️
Crest is a diner style restaurant that serves self-described homemade comfort food. Overall, the food was homemade and good. I'm giving it 4 stars only because I had the hot Mexican roast beef sandwich and the beef wasn't quite as tender as I was expecting. BUT, two caveats: one, I had a bite of my daughter's chicken tenders and it was one of the juiciest chicken tenders I've ever had (again, homemade), and two, I'm willing to go back and try another dish to see if they can garner a 5 star rating. I have a feeling their overall menu is good.
My favorite breakfast spot! The food and the service are always great. Huevos rancheros is top notch, and I am hooked on the chicken artichoke salad as well! Brought family here when they were visiting from out of town and they loved it.
