The Hob Nob omelette was one of the best omlettes I've ever had! Did I mention the blueberry coffee cake is to die for!!! I would recommend this awesome place to anyone looking for an amazing breakfast in SD

I have never had a bad meal at Hob Nob. They spend the extra effort to prepare most ingredients on site. This is not a "foody" restaurant, it serves straight forward American cuisine. If you want expensive small plate entrees, go the the tourist traps down on the waterfront. I have had excellent service, even though I am dining alone and not buying the most expensive meal. Keep up the good work

Excellent!!! They make food and care about food the way it use to be. Friendly caring service and best breakfast I've had in a restaurant in over 30 years. Other restaurants should take some lessons from this famous restaurant. Great dinner items also!

More than you would expect. Don't be fooled the appearance. This isn't a simple diner. This place has great food and service. It can be an upscale evening with a nice wine selection, or a simple turkey sandwich with a Coke. I have been here twice and had a wonderful experience both times. Don't pass this place by if you are going to be in San Diego.

Great Breakfast!!!. My wife and I both loved every bite! We can't wait to get back to San Diego and when we do Hob Nob Hill is definitely on our list. Staff was great and informative, not only about the menu but the surrounding area as well. I love talking to locals and exploring their favorites in the area.

Best Home cooked meal at a restaurant. When coming into San Diego i was told to visit the Hob Knob Hill restaurant as it was one of the oldest, and best places to eat.

They were right, watching the tv show DDD before i went i knew what to expect and it didn't disapoint, i ordered the club and it was huge, stacked high full of ham and turkey, and the crinkle cut fries were perfect.

Best house made Caesar dressing as well, its home style meals are like how mom and grandma cook, great place.

Will be back if i'm in SD again.

Great Fish Fillet Breakfast!. Hob Nob's fish fillet breakfast is outstanding -- tender, thinly breaded with a crisp flavorful cornmeal crust. I get it everytime I have breakfast there and I am not known as a big fish eater. They have maintained the quality for the 20 years I have been eating there. If they are serving orange muffins or cherry coffeecake that day, try them. Mmmmmm!

Classic old school place for traditional style American Breakfast. I suggest the coffee cake as a warm up to breakfast.

Hob Nob Hill is the place to go if you’re looking for an old school coffee shop dating back to 1944. Their coffee cake is just like the one your grandmother used to make (or you wish she did).

We found about this place from Guy on DDD, so we had to experience it. We came in for breakfast and where there at 730a (jet lag). My wife had the crab cakes with holindase & I had the breakfast burrito with aged beef. Both of them tasted outstanding to top it off, they have fresh squeezed OJ :) and great tasting coffee. Service didn't dissapoint either, it was topnotch & showed the staff truly enjoyed what they do. I wish we had room for dessert as it's all homemade.

Really loved our breakfast at Hob Nob Hill! Can’t believe it took me so many years until now to discover this historic place. The benedicts and hash browns were great! The service was so friendly and amazing.

Everything was so good, we got 3 signature cocktails, all excellent and the food was fantastic. Peppercorn butter on crispy waffles with juicy fried chicken and the bacon mushroom spinach quiche was fire. Will def go back! 10/10! Service was also stellar

10/10 recommend Hob Nob Hill. Karina ( not sure how to spell her name, sorry!) was our server/bar maiden. Wonderful attitude and had great recommendations for food. I had my first Monte Cristo and it was incredible! As well as the house coffee which I regretfully did not take a photo of. Even so, was a phenomenal coffee beverage. Thank you so much! Will recommend and definitely be coming back.

We flew in from Hawaii and went straight here. We all loved what we had. The parking was a little tricky but the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable.

The pork chop and eggs was wonderful. Service keep the coffee flowing during the whole meal. Wish the oatmeal raisin cookies didn't have nuts (pecans) in them, but no one is perfect. Excellent place for breakfast/brunch whether by yourself or with company.

Wow this place was very surprising. I wasn't expecting to walk into such a nice atmosphere. The reminder me of the aria hotel. The service was great. We got chicken fried steak and eggs with biscuits and gravy. I will give it a 9/10. They have a display case with tons of great looking desserts that I definitely want to try next time. The breakfast comes with toast, biscuits or muffin. Server was very fast and attendive. We will definitely be back again. They have a very nice looking bar as well and I believe bottomless memoses for around fifteen dollars.

The food doesn't disappoint, the mimosas are bottomless and the atmosphere is comfortable, calm and a great spot for brunch. The service however could use a little tweaking. I will chalk it up to them recently reopening (from what I hear) and new waitstaff. We will be back for the comfort food they provide and I will be sure to let you know how it goes. 😉

This place is legit. Endless food options, can get half serves if you can’t decide between sweet or savoury. Our server KC was fantastic. 11/10 would recommend.

Disclaimer - I went here with a group of 12 for breakfast on a Friday and no reservations. There was only a 10 minute wait time to be seated, though I would not recommend showing up with a large group unannounced, unless you like to roll the dice All the food was excellent. There are few breakfast places that I go to where the food is excellent. In this group of 13, everyone loved their food. Those who had not been here before said they would be bringing their spouses back to try it. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The homemade biscuits are some of the fluffiest, most satisfying biscuits I have had. The gravy was also excellent. I ordered a Bloody Mary to drink and was happy with the flavor and the amount of alcohol in it. The service was excellent and very friendly. The only issue was that it took the larger section of our group an extra 20 minutes of waiting to get their food. But they quickly forgot about the wait time once their food arrived. It's worth the time trying to find parking here!

We had our small Thanksgiving gathering. The entrees were tasty & plentiful. We all took some home. The desserts were not so good, but overall, the dinner was great. The specialty cocktails were out of this world. The service was exceptional considering the packed house they had. We will definitely be returning!

We stopped at this little "diner" before heading to the airport and back home to Texas. Our waitress was very accommodating and allowed us to stay as long as we needed to. We enjoyed the food and had a couple of drinks. The atmosphere was very nice. I'd love to go back sometime.

Update: If you go for happy hour, tell them when entering so they seat you at the bar or in that section. They have a HH burger that has bacon, bbq sauce, and an onion ring like a Carl's Jr. Burger. The Cobb salad was great. The Ruby Slipper made with watermelon juice was delicious, however I had a headache from it later that night. They have a bakery on site and have pastries, cakes, and pies. Friendly bartender and servers. Friendly service, great food, street parking, one bathroom for the whole place. It would be great if they could make it more friendly for those who are hard of hearing. I asked if the music could be turned down and they were cool about it. It would be great if they could have a hook for bags or purses in the bathroom. I had the Cobb Salad and the blue cheese dressing tasted a bit sweet.

We stopped in on places that was close to where we were staying in San Diego for breakfast and we were so happy we did. It’s a fun place that likes the Wizard of Oz. It’s entrance is in black and white decor and as you round the corner to the restaurant and bar, there’s a beautiful mural of Dorothy and her friends in bright and vibrant colors on the back wall. The original owner was named Dorothy and they thought it was a good idea to pay tribute with the mural. The food was excellent. I got avocado toast with over easy eggs and the other dish was biscuits and gravy with bacon. We originally chose normal coffee but after reading The Hob Nob Espresso Bar menu, we switched to Hob Nob Hill Signature Coffee. What a fantastic choice. I highly recommend this place for breakfast.
