I love hazelwoods. I work pedicabbing in the harbor and this is my go to stop for great sandwiches. Their breakfast is also awesome.
I love their big breakfast but my favorite is Papa's breakfast plate which has a 6 oz chicken fried steak and eggs and potatoes. That's enough to keep you going all morning.
Their staff is also really nice. Thanks for the great service guys.
My husband and I arrived around 4 on Sunday. We ordered a cheeseburger and a pastrami sandwich and both were delicious. The staff was wonderful the service was great it was very clean. A TV to watch the football game and have a beer. I really enjoyd the outing. I definitely cannot wait to go again. I never knew this place was there but now that I know it's there I will return. And the view, right across the street from the ocean.
Right across the street from the water and docks. Fairly big sandwiches with the close to the ocean pricing, avg. $14 a sub. Quick service: People working there were nice. They had fountain drinks, a ton of bottled and canned drinks, as well as wine and beer.
There was mainly outdoor seating and some nice views of the surrounding area.
Was craving a deli sub and found this spot. Italian sub was tasty and toasted. Nice patio area to eat, can see the bay. Nice breeze and sun. Deli has other items like burgers, chips, drinks etc. bathroom available to use for customers. Friendly service.
Great find right across from the pier! Awesome breakfast choices as well as sandwiches, pizza, and an electic store with all sorts of items you may need while adventuring such as umbrellas, snacks etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Patio in front with great views of pier. Public parking ramp a little more than one block away if the spots on street are full.
Look for the red and black Board Head patio umbrellas. The name is above and on the door but written small and can get lost. I didn't know I was there until I was right on it.
Reminds me of the Jewish delis in NYC. Got the special which on this day it was a mushroom swiss burger with fries and a drink. The fries were golden , crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. The burger was perfect. Service was great and I went back for ice cream which was refreshing on this perfectly warm day.
Great and inexpensive place. Across the street was double and I didn't feel like paying $30-50 for lunch.
Small seating area inside. They also have drinks in coolers; béer, water and soda aomg with a few items like a 7-11. But I recommend sitting outside if the weather is good. It's across the street from the bay and it's blocked by several cars but still a great view.
Nice place with sidewalk seating. Not a fancy place but it certainly caters to be get your food and in an out crowd. The prices are really reasonable considering that it’s on the San Diego waterfront. Staff is friendly and accommodating and seem to appreciate that you’re their customer. Food served on Styrofoam plates with plastic forks and knives, but who cares.
If you’re sitting outside you have a pretty good view of the waterfront right across the street. They have quite an assortment of things other than food items. And a pretty decent selection of jelly bellies.

Amazing place that has something for everyone. From sunscreen to wine. Food for price point is great. Ordered a pep pizza with extra cheese and a bacon cheeseburger. FF are very crispy. Only negative is that we tried to order from room for room delivery and there was some confusion so we ended up going down to grab as take out. Water bowl for pups and pup greats inside. So much more than what you see in the pictures; their breakfasts are good also and their coffee is a nice medium flavor with no bitter aftertaste.
We are so happy that we tried Hazelwoods, what a gem. The food is awesome and the staff are great. A really good location.
We shared a Teriyaki chicken wrap for supper, trust me you really do want to share it because it is huge. Not only was is sufficient for my husband and I, it was delicious. The next morning we stopped there on our way out of San Diego because we just had to have another experience of the great food so we shared a breakfast burrito which was also awesome, coupled with a couple of lattes we were set to take on the day.
I highly recommend eating here and they also have a lot of travel size products if you need something before catching a cruise ship from the cruise terminal across the road.
This is a gem that is the best breakfast, lunch and dinner spot in San Diego. Beautiful view of SD harbor. Might be lucky enough to see a cruise ship dock. Breakfast is the best, The Two Eggs, Toast and Han with Bayside Potates are amazing as well as filling. For lunch Malibu Chicken Sanwich. The people are amazing. Tony is a great person. Thank you Hazelwoods on the Bay.
Make this a must do place for breakfast on your visit to San Diego. We visited from Iowa, and ate breakfast here. The location is absolutely perfect. Food is delicious and big portions. It is a beautiful experience. As a family we loved every minute we spent there.
Stopped in for the breakfast burrito during my walk along the river. It's a deli counter inside something resembling a convenience store so there's a lot of variety available for food and drinks.
