Not all Filippi’s pizza are the same. Apparently this location is the best as far as food and atmosphere. They have the formal dining room and lounge area with the bar if you want to chill. A lot of the locals come here to hang out.
Did you know that they have a secret menu? We ordered from the regular menu. We got wings, ravioli and lasagna.
Both the ravioli and lasagna had the same sauce. I wouldn’t order that combo again. The wings were dry rub, large, and juicy.
We didn’t find the food to be that great but the atmosphere was the place to be that evening. We will for sure be back to join the locals and order spicer wings.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Filippi's Pizza Grotto Scripps Ranch in San Diego, California, and I was absolutely blown away. I'm from Dubai, and I've eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, but Filippi's is truly something special.
The first thing that struck me about Filippi's was the warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is decorated in a classic Italian style, with brick walls, wood accents, and cozy booths. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they made me feel at home right away.
Of course, no review of Filippi's would be complete without mentioning the food. The pizza is absolutely incredible. The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce is flavorful and tangy, and the cheese is gooey and delicious. I ordered the pepperoni pizza, and it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had.
In addition to the pizza, Filippi's also offers a wide variety of other Italian dishes, such as pasta, lasagna, and chicken parmesan. I also tried the spaghetti and meatballs, and it was equally delicious. The meatballs were tender and juicy, and the spaghetti was perfectly cooked.
Overall, I had an amazing experience at Filippi's Pizza Grotto Scripps Ranch. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Italian meal.
I also wish that Filippi's would open a branch in Dubai. I'm sure that it would be a huge success. The people of Dubai love Italian food, and they would appreciate the high quality and deliciousness of Filippi's dishes.
Highly recommended. Ask for secret menu items. Special Sample Platter will terrify, but fill you up at the same time.
The food is always so great when we come to Filippis. They have great gluten free options. Our server Josh was attentive and personable. The prime rib at this location is incredible. Highly recommend! The wines good too :)
Friendly from the minute We walked in the door. We (group of 3) we're seated in the bar area as We requested and Our Server Derek was more than Great! The Prime Rib was excellent! The atmosphere was great too! We'll definitely be back!! Not a bad meal here! Excellent food 😋

The Prime Rib was amazing, really amazing. The smallest cut is 16 oz then 20 oz then bone in @ 24 oz.
We shared the 20 oz and it came with garlic bread, pasta (lasagna) and salad. You could get baked potatoe instead. They even split everything for us.
The lasagna wasn't anything to write home about but it was a nice portion.
The prices for this wonderful Prime Rib was around $35ish for the 20oz. Not bad
The have-to-try dishes: Fry cheese to start was very good, crunchy outside and tasty cheese. The chicken wings: If you are from the south of Spain the flavor might remind you to our chicharrones but a bit spacy. I really enjoyed the wings. The Prime Rib something out of this world per my friends review and as dessert the Tiramisù was totally amazing. My daughter ate cheese raviolis and she isn't crazy about food, she said she really liked them. I ate the combo with spaghetti and lasagna but honestly I didn't appreciate so much marinara sauce (no other choice) the lasagna was good but only cheese inside the sheets of pasta and more marinara tomato on top. I felt I ate the same thing over with a slight change of the pasta since the fry cheese has the same sauce. The garlic bread wasn't one of my favorites but I would definitely come back for the wings and the tiramisù.
It had been awhile since we had ate at Filippi's so we decided to go there for Prime Rib. The serving of prime rib was generous and perfectly cooked. The servers were very helpful and attentive. The decor is older but charming. No complaints here!

Excellent service and staff. We only came here for tiramisu and fries (but ended up getting onion rings instead) as that was our first date meal with my wife :) onion rings were fresh, tiramisu was tasty and its portion was big. We opted to sit outside since the inside was very dark (Google the meaning of Grotto).
Although Filippi's Pizza is a franchise, I have experienced the same great service, good food, and homey atmosphere at the 4 area locations that I've visited! The food is even the same good quality at the one in El Cajon from which UberEats delivers to my home!
Today, I ate the capicolla sandwich there with a friend plus delicious, decaf coffee. I also ordered a large veggie pizza and a clam linguini dinner with marinara sauce, salad, and garlic toast to take home. They accommodated my bridge work by cutting the pizza into 2- inch slices, which makes it very easy to eat! I always give a good tip! Grazie di tutto!

Another fantastic meal at this great restaurant. Our waiter, Senan, went above and beyond his duties. He helped my mom get her phone charged, water for my dogs, packed up our leftovers and got us fresh bread all the time being so professional and pleasant. I got the veal scallopini and it was delicious. My mother got the calamari and anti pasta salad that was huge and phenomenal. Thanks a lot for making our visit so fantastic. We will be back..
This is the only Flippi's that serves prime rib and barbecued ribs. Both entrees are some of the best in San Diego. The atmosphere is certainly"old timey" but as well suited for the food and the fun.
Love this place for good old fashioned stick to your ribs Italian. Lasagna is thick, flavorful, and rich. Pizza has real mozzarella piled thick with generous toppings. Staff is always friendly and willing to serve.
Some of the best Prime rib ever. Yes this is the only Filippi's that serves it. Try it you won't be sorry. Excellent service as well !!
