I really really enjoyed this place. Really innovative Italian inspired food. I had the eggplant plate and a half poached pear salad. Both were extremely good. Fresh hit bread from the oven. The purple sweet potato gnocchi was really unique and flavorful. Service was great and the outdoor patio was really nice for our large group. I'll definitely be back with my wife!
Nice local restaurant with a friendly staff. We came in for happy hour. $10 off bottles of wine and $2 of Small plate appetizers. I think $2 off cocktails too.
We ordered the small plate appetizers and shared those. The scallops with pappardelle and the lobster risotto were pretty good portions for small plates. The caprese salad, bruschetta, and purple potato gnocchi were tasty too but portions were smaller.
Complimentary bread came with a delicious dipping sauce.
perfect size portions and so delicious :) we came in without a reservation it was so nice and also quite affordable. dont sleep on the gnocchi dish and the fettuccine pasta!! salad was also great. i got the scallop dish and the stuffed chicken over fettuccine m. it was so good and exactly what i wanted 😍the waiter was also helpful in explaining the special items. we will be coming back!
Wonderful environment with great Mediterranean food done to perfection. Family owned with very reasonable prices, especially for the quality.
Probably best to call for a reservation.

Food: Excellent We ordered 2 appetizers, gnocchi & scallops, they were delicious. I ordered a panini and it came with pasta with red sauce. I ate some pasta but I was full from the appetizers and took the delicious looking sandwich to my husband, he thoroughly enjoyed it.
Service: Excellent, the server was one of the best and experienced servers.
Atmosphere: Nice
Price: $$$
“Beyond good ... VERY GOOD ❣️ Both the food and service (our waiter, Daniel was the epitome of gentle-manliness) were spectacular. The revelations began with the delightfully tasty Antipasto; we were impressed that each bite blossomed with flavor as we dwelled on each morsel. Even the bread was fresh and tasty without garnishment; but as a vehicle for the cheeses and everything on the plate, the combinations were wonderful. EVERYTHING on the antipasti plate was full flavored and distinctive... did you hear that (?!) “full flavored and distinctive”, even the dried pear tasted like a full flavored dried pear! Likewise for the rest of the plate. Our main courses were likewise delicious: the meatballs were cooked medium and deliciously juicy and the accompanying al dente pasta was perfectly flavored with a well seasoned and thick tomato sauce that didn’t run — imagine that with distinctive flavors. My wife’s scallops were excellent as well. In closing, make reservations and get ready for gastronomic delights and thoughtful service. My only criticism is that the Men’s’ Room should have a lighted light switch, please; the urgency grew in anticipation too long. (Please click 👍🏼. Thank you. )
Cafe Luna is one of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego. Casual setting but with a nice atmosphere. Looking back at the pictures I took of our food makes me want to go back asap.
This place is amazing!! Family owned. The bartender, Dalton, is fabulous and the food & wine are the best things in life!! ✨😁🌺💛🙌🏻✨ It’s a special place and I love it.
As a regular, I can honestly say that their food, service and atmosphere is wonderful. Plus, besides their very yummy warm french bread, Jamie makes an excellent margarita!
So we were going to go to the Mexican food spot that's 2 doors down, but since our last name is Luna, we decided to try this spot. I'm so glad we did. The food was so good here. It's an Italian food restaurant and all 3 plates that we got were really good. The ambiance was really nice as well. The service was good. We got here just after 8 p.m., and it closed at 9 p.m., so I felt like our waiter was more focused on closing, which delayed our service. He was very courteous and polite, but because of closing, he was not as attentive. Other than that it was great. We will be going again soon.
Food is delicious but expensive. We sat on the front patio which is really the sidewalk but is enclosed so you don't feel like you are in the parking lot. Our server was pleasant but didn't come around much so the food was lukewarm. The seabass was delicious but tiny and came with only salad, no other side. Pork osso buco is nummy but was not warm
The staff is always friendly and has great recommendations. Food hasn’t disappointed yet in 5 visits
We LOVED that place.
Food - delicious, right size portions: one can take appetizer, main and dessert and do not explode.
Atmosphere - very relaxing, comfy above and beyond.
The atmosphere was greatly improved since I last came which was nice. Staff was friendly and attentive.
The only thing that upset me was they say soup of the day is lobster bisque but I got shrimp in my soup and there was no lobster :(
This place is amazing. Don't know why we haven't tried it before but I was amazed at how authentic of an Italian restaurant it was. Everything from the food to the service, even the bathrooms were high class with fancy paper towels and mints. I highly recommend this cafe!
This is one of our favorite restaurants, especially for our Anniversary and special occasions. The patio dining is romantic and intimate. The food is amazing and the staff are attentive, helpful and accommodating. It's delightful!
I'm telling you, superb meal, service and atmosphere! Go check them out.
