I just moved to the area and have been looking for great sushi and after coming here I have to look no further! This will be our new go to place. The food and service were beyond outstanding. I am gluten free and the chef and server went above and beyond to accommodate. Their specialty roll selection & specials were amazing. I am very picky when it comes to great sushi and Full Moon did not disappoint, top notch. An added bonus is the beautiful ambience. I HIGHLY recommend. Hats off to the chef and staff - thank you so much!

Love this restaurant. Master chef Sergio prepares some of the most amazing sushi in San Diego. The Eclipse roll was our favorite but all the other rolls we ordered are delicious. You can’t find a bad item on the menu. Our server Anthony was very good and very professional. We will be back again for sure! Thank you to everyone that worked tonight. Much love
Top notch sushi bar!! The fish was very fresh! Beautifully made! Each roll was perfect! We always had full drinks and our servers were amazing! Even at a very busy time we were able to fit us in for a party of 2. I hope to be in town again soon and will definitely return!
This is by far the best sushi I have had in San Diego. Every dish we ordered was amazing. You have to try the “Third Quarter” and the “Waxing Crenshaw” sub the snow crab for tempura shrimp. Amazing. Delicious. You name it.
I recommend sitting at the bar if your party is small enough. Louis our sushi chef was very kind and very skilled. Also Anthony is a wonderful server, he is very attentive and tries to make sure we have a great experience every time we’re there.
If you’re in Gas Lamp down town San Diego definitely check this place out.
A must try downtown sushi experience. Beautiful spot with fresh, tasty cuts, detailed preparation and deliciously balanced flavors.
Intimate setting allowing for staff to be aware of you and the option to sit at the sushi bar to enjoy the preparation process.
Full Moon is the best sushi! I'm town and believe me I tried many spots im San Diego. The live uni is to die for fresh from San Diego! Albert is the best Chef. I had my birthday dinner here and cam back with friends. The fish is fresh and taste like butter. Literally melts in your mouth. The customer service is unmatched. I can't wait to come back next time I'm in town.
Full Moon is one of the best sushi restaurants I've been to in San Diego! Sushi was modern, delicious and beautifully plated. The entire staff (especially our sushi chef Albert) were incredibly fun and hospitable to us. We loved the Milky Way Roll, Spicy Yellowtail Roll, and garlic edamame was some of the best I've had! Atmosphere is trendy and inviting and would make an excellent date spot. Would recommend to make reservations since this is such a popular restaurant. Cannot recommend Full Moon enough!!
Very fresh and good sushi with a beautiful atmosphere. The fish was so good. And the seaweed salad was delicious with the vinaigrette they use. I feel like you just can’t go wrong here.
My partner and I have been here twice; both were for special occasions and we like this so much the first time that we came back. The servers are friendly and accommodating. For your birthday you get mochi balls but since we couldn't eat dairy they gave us cucumber shooters instead!
The food is excellent, the service is fantastic, and the overall ambiance and energy is great and comfortable. Both times we have been here we have continued to talk about the meal hours after because we just wanted to relive it the experience. Highly recommend!
Best sushi in San Diego, I should know, I'm a weeb from Long Beach. The sashimi and crispy rice was amazing. Definitely coming back.
This was probably the best sushi I have had in five years. All I have to say is that if you are a sushi lover, you absolutely have to order the full moon specialty sushi roll it is insane. There is roasted mushroom crab on top of the sushi itself. we sat on the patio and enjoyed twinkling lights and delicious sake at the recommendation of our server. We were celebrating a special occasion, and she very generously served us a second bottle of sake at no extra charge. We tried the Shishido peppers to start, which were pleasantly spicy. also ordered three specialty rolls, including the full moon roll, all of which were uniquely different but equally delicious. We tried some of the cookies and cream ice cream for dessert, which we were told was from one of the local ice cream shops. All in all, a very satisfactory evening. The chef certainly knows how to serve up a variety of absolutely amazing Japanese dishes, and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the downtown area.
This place was great! I went close to when they opened & didn’t need a reservation, but it did get busy. We ordered the small sashimi platter, the spicy tuna on crispy rice & the eclipse roll. All were so good, but the spicy tuna & crispy rice was my favorite.
I came in for my very first time and had the most outstanding omakase sushi experience.
From beginning to end I received nothing less than top tier 5 star service.
The hostess was polite and welcoming.
The server was cordial and professional.
The food was beyond memorable and chef Kevin is a fantastic and gifted sushi chef.
Course after course was outdone by the next.
If at all possible I encourage everyone to visit Full Moon to experience the eventful dining experience
Thank you and I hope to be back again soon.
I've been searching for the best sushi place in San Diego for several years now and I can easily say this is by far it! The sushi is so fresh, the dishes so artfully crafted, the service incomparable, the prices reasonable. Our waitress Hayley was so attentive and sweet, she better get her reward from management promised to their employees for a good review; a bottle of sake. The place is bustling, but not impossible or even difficult to get a table at. The interior is beautifully designed and decorated. The whole experience is perfection. Can't wait to go back.
Oh and their crab is real crab!! Not imitation!! Even the best places will serve imitation.
The only bummer is they're not open for lunch because I'd go, a lot. Wish I had more photos to post but my phone died. I'm definitely going to get more pics next time.
I am from Hawaii and I am part Japanese and I enjoy eating sea food and I especially love sushi. I have had sushi all over the United States, from coast to coast, Alaska and of course Hawaii. I have not had any sushi in Japan yet, but I will be there next month and I am really excited. I just had sushi at Full Moon Sushi in San Diego and it was excellent. It isn’t my number 1, but damn it is so close. The quality was spot on and the variety was amazing. They serve things I have never seen at other restaurants including flying fish and needle fish, the chef and I were also talking about barracuda that they sometime serve in Hawaii we call it Kaku. I could not believe some of their menu items. Sadly though they did not have any needle fish while I was there. However, my favorite sushi and the way I test sushi restaurants I visit is with Amaebi. Amaebi is known by most as spot prawns. It is often served with a raw tail and fried head. It must be super fresh, otherwise it is slimy and nasty and there have been times I could just smell it and not eat it. Full Moon Sushi served me an amaebi that was still alive. Talk about fresh! The head was not cooked. But after I ate the tails they took the heads and made a soup. OMG!!!!! For a seafood soup that was the best most amazing soup I ever had. The broth with the heads was amazing and the heads were still pretty crunchy and were so tasty. If you want to enjoy some exotic seafood and you love sushi, if you are in San Diego I high recommend Full Moon Sushi.
The best raw lobster I've ever had. Wasn't sure at first but a total hit! Then they take the head and do lobster soup! Amazing
