We arrived at 11:00am just in time before the Friday lunch rush. Food is so delicious. The flour tortillo we got is almost similar to the restaurant we went to in Ensenada, Mexico. Supreme breakfast burrito is toddler approved. Free chips that came with the burrito, is really good too. We also had the Ranchero steak, meat is very tender, wish they sell bread to soak up all that sauce. Lastly, we also tried a fish taco.

Excellent seafood entrees. The shrimp burritos and tacos are the best! The prices and portions used to be very fair. Sadly no longer the best deal in San Diego for quality, taste, and service. Update: Tried the adobado taco. It was very good, so we'll add it to our faves. Prices have increased again, but quality remains the same. Update: Prices have increased again! Update: Prices have increased again and the burritos are 1/3 smaller. Quality is still good, but prices are no longer fair. Update: Got the Shrimp Burrito and Fish Taco combo plate, and the Fish Chimichanga. Everything was very tasty. Update: Got the Shrimp Burrito and Fish Taco combo plate, and the Shrimp Chimichanga. Everything was very tasty, but the Chimichanga was not fried long enough and was not crispy.

My visit was before the lunch rush so not many people there. The gentleman who helped was very friendly and helpful, I asked for a carne asada "wet" burrito and he replied that although not on the menu they'd gladly make one. I am happy to sad it was delicious! I highly recommend this location.

You won't find better tacos anywhere in San Diego County! The Calamari tacos and scallop tacos are truly fantastic. The carnitas strikes the ideal balance between moist and crispy. The service is exceptional—friendly and welcoming, making you feel like part of the family. For parking, I recommend parking by the park and taking a short walk down. It's a brief stroll, and you get to enjoy the charm of the cute neighborhood along the way.

First time here and it was a very fun and neat restaurant! The service was very nice and friendly also quick! I ordered a quesadilla which was really greasy sadly so I didn’t eat to much but it DID taste good! My fiancé got a shrimp burrito and loved it! I took a bite and it tasted amazing! I will for sure swing by again and try them again

My first time eating here. My boss raved about the food, and detoured off the 5 Fwy North back to Orange County just to get takeout for our ride back. I wasn't disappointed. I ordered a steak and shrimp burrito that was damn good. Fresh ingredients, tasty, and worth the price. I would detour again to eat here.

Food is top notch. The variety of flavors and styles of Mexican food is otherworldly. And it all tastes great. They have some neat combos of things you wouldn't normally put in a burrito, or that you'd think go well together, but THEY DO! Always happy with the food. The service, while professional and courteous, can be slow at busy times. It's a small place with a small kitchen. They do the best they can, but if you're in a hurry, consider ordering ahead. There are a few tables (inside and out) but sometimes with the wait line, the waiting people will sit at the tables. Again, not the fault of the restaurant, but if you're looking for a nice sit down place, you might not find it here. But you should 100% try the food.

Best chicken burrito in San Diego is the El Zarape burrito - big claim to make but this juicy chicken + pasilla peppers + creamy cheese PLUS the amazing red sauce is my go-to stop every time I visit SD. Love love love (also the House burrito with chicken+mole is amazing! Green sauce is great too!)

Had the #13 Carnitas Plate. Food was great. Cool little spot in University Heights. Seating is limited, but timed things perfectly and got a seat outside. Parking is on the street only, be prepared to parallel park.

First time here, excellent breakfast burrito. Most tasty fluffy eggs I've ever had from a Mexican restaurant. Just to clarify some things I read in some other reviews. This place is not cash only, they do accept cards. And there is no salsa bar, however their red and green salsa are better than most Mexican restaurants in the area. Looking forward to going back and trying more!

I used to live 5 blocks from this place. So its offerings were a weekly staple to my diet. The California grilled chicken burrito is my “go to comfort food”. Skip the single plastic utensils and take-out bag (they have paper bags, too). If you like spicy, be sure and get the smoky red chipotle (?) hot sauce. The shrimp or fish tacos are delicious and well-priced to have several. Seating is limited, but nearby Trolley Barn Park makes a decent picnic spot. My food orders have always been ready in 10 minutes or less.

El Zarape Restaurant is a good choice for Mexican food if you are in the area. I tried the shrimp burrito and the fried fish tacos. They did not disappoint. The carne asada fries looked good too, but there are a lot of options. Definitely a place to return to.

Loved the beyond beef veggie burrito, a subtle sweeter hamburger style fake meat. Awesome salsas. Husband loved the chicken mole burrito which is hard to find.
