I have been dining at Cafe Athena for at least18 years. It never disappoints. Delicious food , good service and good wines. They even have a lot of gluten free options. The halibut was delicious.
The food quality is exquisite and prices very reasonable. We were given our own room and great service. No one complained about our talking and moving around. Really a great deal for everyone.
We were hungry and found Greek food near me. What a flicking find...we had the gyros plate and rice pudding. Everything was excellent down to Rafa's (server) top notch service, recommendations and patience. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed our meal on the lovely shaded patio.
A must go in Pacific Beach and the area!

We had dinner at Cafe Athena on a Tues night at 7 pm. We made reservations but I don't think they were necessary. There is indoor and outdoor seating and we chose to eat inside. The restaurant is located inside a shopping center with a parking lot. We tried this place based on a recommendation from a Greek friend. We tried the calamari, saganaki, spanakopita, papoutsakia, moussaka, and chicken couscous. The calamari and spanakopita tasted fine but I didn't think they were anything special. The saganaki is cheese that is flamed table side. The cheese is warm and gooey a bit boozy with the brandy. Although the cheese is really good, the pita bread served with it is mediocre. Of the three entrees we had, the moussaka was my favorite. It felt like a lasagna but without the pasta (which you don't miss) - the meat was really well flavored and the eggplant and zucchini were really tender. The chicken couscous was also really good - the stewed veggies were really flavorful in all of the spices. I enjoyed the food here. I can't speak for it being authentically Greek but we enjoyed the meal nonetheless.
The food was delicious, and the cocktail I had (Athena) was truly divine. I discovered this by a random search for Greek food in San Diego, and I'll come back here next time I visit lovely San Diego. Prices are moderate, the place has a few outdoor tables which was great for us with a toddler. I think we hit the lunch rush, since service was a bit slow, but we didn't wait more than 15-20 mins, so it was all good and perfectly reasonable.
Delicious food! Kind staff, clean environment, and lots of natural light.
The last time we ate here was before their remodel a few years back, so we were delighted with the bigger and more open dining area.
Fantastic good with even better service. An absolute local establishment here in PB. Although all the dishes are amazing, the Bourekia, Gyros wrap, and Chicken Souvlaki are my favorites. Overall, a great place to go with friends for Mediterranean cuisine in PB.
Outstanding service. Our server Lora or (Laura) was tip top and very friendly. We ordered multiple cocktails, bottles of wine, beers, appetizers, and 6 main dishes. All were great. Food came in good time and the bus staff was also great. The bar is nice and the tables are comfortable. Great all around.
Love this place even more since the remodel during COVID. Food is always excellent and fresh and service feels like a family run operation. These guys have been around for a long time for a reason.
We ordered our food to be delivered and it was such a great experience! First of all, they packed and wrapped the food so nicely to ensure nothing would spill. We ordered the chicken & gryo wrap + side salad, domaldes, spanikopita, and the lemon soup. Everything was absolutely delicious 10/10. Actually the best Mediterranean food we've ever had. You need to go here! I never write reviews but the food was worth witing one.
Blew my expectations out the water. Super flavorful and delicious Greek cuisine . Expansive menu with all kinds of great options. And the water tasted nice and cleanly filtered , which is the mark of a good restaurant . I highly recommend . P.S. the Galacto-Boureko dessert is phenomenal.
