Consistently Good
This tiny café in a small strip mall serves a variety of Japanese noodles, rice dishes, and bento plates. Service is speedy, price is right, and the bathroom is super clean. The downside is finding parking in the busy adjacent lot.
Good filling tasty food. Large portions and great flavor. Veggies were not overcooked, very good. I plan on coming here again with my friend! I had the Ramen with chicken and veggies. Delicious!
Surprisingly good. When a friend suggested we go to Chopstix, I was like, isn't that some sort of chain? when we walked into the place, I was still dubious, especially when I saw so many non-asians in the place. (ha) But then, to my surprise, their food is good. I am very picky about ramen and even decided to go out of my comfort zone and instead of the usual shoyu ramen I tried a spicy ramen with ground pork, and it was out of this world - (sorry I don't remember the name of it). The crunchy sushi was good.
Noodles fast, not fast food. Little shop with very close table offers a huge assortment of noodles. Ramen, udon, soba and yakitori (stir-fry) all offered with at least 15 combinations of each. There is also a small sushi roll selection as well as a choice of tempura. Service is friendly and very quick so if it's your 1st visit you'll feel pressured to order when there is so much to read. Menu is 6 pages long!
Parking can be tight but the table turnover is quick so a space will become available soon.
Good Japanese food ans sushi very fast
FANTASTIC QUICK JAPANESE CUISINE!!. This isn't rocket science, but it is great food!! And if you are looking for fast and friendly, this is it. Always full, but tables move really fast!
Try the Soba Noodles, the Asian Curry* ( ask first, has an acquired taste!) and my favorite... Ton Chi Katsu Don, the Don means meal, the Ton Chi Katsu is ala carte otherwise. This yummy dish is panko breaded pork and chicken cutlets, served with rice, miso soup and a small salad and Japanese steak sauce for dipping your meat in.
Start with the Crunchy roll...Oh My very good. And if you order a Japanese beer, you can get a choice of 1 appetizer from the list of 3 or 4 appetizers for .99 cents.
Also the tempura is very crunchy and wonderful. This is a must try if your in the Convoy / Kearny area. I eat here at least 2-3 times a month!!!
Closest noodles to Tokyo street food. All noodle dishes are amazing , also try the Crunchy Roll, the dinners that include the chicken and pork breaded with panko.I don't like the japanese curry but I see a ton of locals ordering it, it's an acquired taste.Busy and quick service.
I seriously think this place has some of the best gyoza in town.
A family style restaurant with decent food, reasonable pricing and huge portions. We ordered udon, soba, ramen, katsu and a sushi roll. Nothing fancy but taste pretty good.
I love curry! But you can tell the curry they serve came straight from a can! Not fresh. They got great deals! Buy a large beer and get a appetizer for 99 cent!
Excellent soups! Oyako Soba w/Miso Broth is our favorite! However, everything on the menu tastes delicious. A great mom & pop authentic Japanese restaurant that is a welcome alternative to all of the mediocre ramen restaurants that have opened in the Convoy area. They take pride in their quality menu selections, good portions, and charge fair prices. The employees are very friendly and eager to answer questions. Update: Got the Chicken Katsu and Spicy Tuna Rolls Bento. It was very good. Update: Got Oyako Soba w/Miso Broth, and Oyako Soba w/Tonkotsu broth. Both were excellent. Update: Got the Mabo Don Ika Katsu and Mabo Don Ton Katsu. Both were excellent. Update: Got Oyako Soba w/Miso Broth, and Oyako Soba w/Tonkotsu broth. Both were excellent, as usual. Update: Got the Mabo Don Ika Katsu and the Oyako Soba w/Miso Broth. Both were excellent. Update: Got Oyako Soba w/Miso Broth, and Oyako Soba w/Tonkotsu broth. Both were excellent.
Absolute best Japanese noodle house in town. I love their Nabeyaki udon! Get the deluxe if you want to treat yourself. Great service and great prices. There is more parking in the back if you can't find anything in the front.
I've been here off & on for several years. And every time,
I've been greeted kindly and treated attentively.
They strive to offer the best service and Japanese cuisine in the area. And they are still one of my favorites for Japanese food.
We tried this place for the first time today for lunch. We were seated right away and our order was taken pretty quickly. We tried two bento lunches. One chicken katsu and one tempura. Everything was very well prepared. Fresh ingredients. Tasty salad. We aches selected the California roll as part of our order. Delicious! Would definitely recommend.
Came here with friends they always recommend this place. We loved the food and service. Good portions and the sushi and curry we're yummy! Want to try other dishes next time !
Gladly we tried this place, it’s a very authentic Japanese street foods restaurant. It’s kind of very unique than other Japanese restaurants which are more only about sushi or ramen. But you can literally get everything from here, especially some small size tempura, katsu, curry… and even okonomiyaki and takoyaki, not really common that you see from a restaurant menu. The foods are nice, I won’t say they are super super delicious, but definitely worthy the price. It’s also a very family friendly place. You can tell how popular it is. We wait 30 minutes on a Monday night.
I asked for recommendations at Uncle Tetsu's and they sent me here. For this visit I tried the shrimp tempura sushi and I loved it. The service was fast and efficient. My server was friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely be back.
Thank god this place is open during the day after the lunch time!! I usually dislike going around convoy area with crowds and traffic, but we found this place to eat at 2pm! Very affordable price and good sushi! Love the salmon rolls. Quiet peaceful inside restaurant I felt so relax. Nice staffs and fast service.
