(Last visited 5/15/2023.) Hanging out in San Diego with my boys for the weekend and it's the last full day before we have to head back home. Well, it's Sunday Funday so that means brunch! I found out this place offers bottomless mimosas on Saturdays and Sundays 9:30am to 1:00pm so we pulled up and got started! Here's how it went...
Atmosphere/Appearance: The Bootlegger is set right downtown on the corner of Market Street and 8th Avenue. There's a big vertical sign hanging way above the door pointing down to the bar in a very 60s Las Vegas sign sort of fashion. The inside gives me not-quite rustic vibes with its leather seats, exposed brick, yet modern amenities such as huge TVs hanging over the bar. It was a good mix. This place was LIVE though! It was lively, energetic and just an overall good time.
Service: I can't remember who took care of us because there was so much going on, but we sat at the bar so the mimosas were flowing at Mach speed. Lol. We never needed to ask for anything because we had it.
Food: I went with the Steak & Eggs, which is seared skirt steak, two eggs any way, tomatoes, peppers and a potato hash. It was cool. I'm here for the drinks and I just need food to soak up the alcohol. Lol. I would certainly lean a different direction, maybe toward the chicken & waffles with mac & cheese or something like that.
Value: Pretty great if you ask me. Bottomless mimosas are $25.00 and you get to drink for 3.5 hours if you get here at 9:30am. Lol. That's pretty good value. My steak & eggs were only $15.00 so that's why they were pretty mid. Lol.
If you're coming for brunch you're going to love this place! I know I did and I look forward to returning next year!
I had a nice meal here on a random slow Monday night. The selection of beers and cocktails was good, the apps were well-prepared, the entrees were good, and the service was good. We tried the crispy deviled eggs, fried pickles, chicken and waffles, and sliders. For me, the stand-out was the eggs; they're good, but the portion is only 4, so it left me wanting more. The waffle was just ok.
This is a place we came for a late night party before pandemic, it was very fun. And this time, we came here for brunch. I ordered a Nacho plate and my husband had a breakfast burger. Both of them taste so so, not too bad, but we think we can cook better than that. My husband loved his Bloody Mary. My sangria is fine. The service was super slow, the waiters are nice, but they are too busy to take care of us.
Wouldn't have expected this to be a brunch spot but it's pretty awesome. Good prices, good food, and great atmosphere. They do offer 25$ bottomless mimosas from open till 1 if you're down to get sloshy. Will come back again.
Must place to go for burger and beer!!! Many beers on tap, and you build your own burger for $10! The house fries were really good, tasty, and crispy. The sweet potato tots were so tasty and sweet , and you get so many that it feels like u ate two potatoes!
Local, lively bar in East Village. Fun for happy hour, sporting events and brunch.
The food here was A+++ Especially the clam chowder. I scarfed it down so fast I didn't get a picture. The shrimp tacos were 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I got grilled and breaded.
The fish n chips were 💣 af too. Not to mention our server, she took care of us like family and we were a group of 16.
I highly recommend trying this place.
This place was an absolute blast and great time. My friend was visiting and he is a huge 49ers fan and it’s definitely a 49ers bar so we had a great time. Drinks and service are really good here. Drinks are also fairly priced well too. Good beer selection. Just be aware that the nachos had a bunch of hot sauce on them. Might have just been a one time thing but it seemed rather obsessive. This is all we ate here and it was a great place to watch football at. Definitely can’t wait to come back again.
This place it great service, food, and atmosphere. If you are an Alabama college football fan it's absolutely a plus for you, but no discrimination in this place. Everyone needs to try it. Thursdays is the special deal. Bring all your friends and family to enjoy together.
First time Visiting Downtown San Diego
Decided I would take the family to this spot.
Arrived around brunch-time on a Sunday , Dj was already hype, atmosphere was great friendly hosts and hostess, waiter made sure our waters were filled. I’d definitely visit here again _from Dallas. Food _ tried the breakfast 🥞 🥚 burger 🍔 , Chicken 🍗 and waffles and stuffed Toast. 🍞
Overall Great Experience,
