This place was awesome. Very L.A. food in San Diego. Amazing food. Awesome service. Appreciated our waiters opinion. Took it from fish and chips to gourmet dinner.
Lots of great choices for seafood. We enjoyed appetizers and the calamari with salad could’ve made a light meal. The oysters were amazing. I had the Ahi Tuna for dinner with bokchoy & rice and the Ahi was sushi grade delicious perfection.

This is a fabulous restaurant! All the food is so fresh and tasty!! They don't even mind adjusting my dishes to make them gluten free. They treat us like we are their favorite family members. I love it that they have live music!!
A favorite place for Happy hour before attending San Diego Civic Theatre performances....close by. Good food and service. Love to sit on patio and people watch!!

My husband and I were staying at the hotel across the street and we decided to go over to spice Africa for dinner. He had the fish and chips and I got the chicken and shrimp fajitas and it was one of the best I ever had. We enjoyed it so much we came back the next night. The server was so good also and very attentive. We will be going back there again for sure
Awesome food, I had the BBQ Mahi Mahi and it was fantastic. My girlfriend had the Salmon and it was very good as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Great Lobster Bisque and Fish Tacos. Shane the bartender was great as well as the company of two great women from San Francisco.

The staff at the bar were excellent and really made the experience the couple times I visited so far. Very interesting and personable. All the main entrées and specials are quite unique. The main go-to are the macadamia calamari and the fish n' chips (which will fill ya right up by themselves). Be mindful of the portions of the more unique entrées. Better to pair them with an appetizer and a treat at the end. Overall a great lil spot, although just be cognizant of the surrounding street-dwellers that can be a bit rambunctious at times.
The Restaurant was a great. The staff was wonderful providing food and wine recommendations. We had clam chowder that was excellent. The wife had the salmon, while I had one of the best fish and chips ever.
Gaslamp Fishhouse is a great place to check out if you're in the area. They offer a variety of seafood options along with other various meat selections. They have some great options for dessert. There is a full service bar at the resturant and offer both indoor and outdoor seating. I'd recommend going on their site to make reservations in krder to ensure you can be seated.
Had dinner here with my Mother and we both enjoyed our meal. Being from the east coast we can be picky when ig comes to clam chowder but theirs had great flavor to it. The crab cakes were great especially paired with their wasabi sauce. However my favorite part of the meal had to be the fries, however they prepare them definetly sticks out from the rest. Expensive yes but great to treat yourself once in awhile. Next time were trying the seafood tower.
GREAT staff! The food was amazing! I got Rainbow salad and shrimp tacos. I didn't get a photo but I got a pink peppercorn margarita. Everything was amazing... I'll be back when I visit next time!
We were in San Diego for the Carnegie Summit on Improvement in Education Conference and wanted seafood. After a Google search I came across the Gaslight Fish House. We had a reservation for 12 and they were able to accommodate. The restaurant had a nautical theme and very low lightening. Our waitress was great. There were mixed comments about the food, however I enjoyed my Crab Cakes and Truffle Fries. My husband also enjoyed his Salmon. We order the Bread Pudding and Carmel Pudding. Overall great company, conversation, and ok food with exceptional service.
The salmon was incredibly delicious, and the steak was fantastic! Despite appearing short-staffed, the service remained excellent. We also indulged in an appetizer, and the bread pudding dessert was a delightful conclusion. Every dish was expertly cooked, promptly served, and devoured immediately—simply because it was that good! I highly recommend trying out this place for a laid-back and relaxed date night. Afterward, take a leisurely walk—the surroundings are beautiful.
This salmon was delicious😋 steak was great! Service was still excellent, although they seemed short-staffed. We also had an appetizer and the bread pudding dessert and everything we ate was wonderfully cooked, served and eaten immediately.... because it was so good! Definitely try out this place for a chill, and relaxed date night. Then go on a walk! It's beautiful.
This is the best place for happy hour oysters. Really great oysters for only $1.50. Loved the bartender who kept my soda water always filled. Good selection of beers and cocktails. The Ceviche was refreshing and Brussels sprouts were tasty but a little greasy.
Absolutely amazing food! Definitely worth the visit while in Gaslamp District. Friendly service, our waitress on this visit was very knowledgeable on the menu. Good experience. Worth the prices.
Came here for happy hour and the oysters were fresh and briny. The calamari is interesting, more like a calamari fish stick that still retained a tender texture (great to try if you're afraid of tentacles). The cocktails are creative and tasty.
Good food and a great atmosphere. We ordered the salmon, fish and chips and calamari. The calamari tastes delicious and is a must. As you can tell from the photos, the calamari looks like steak and it can be had as a meal by itself. The overall experience was great. The service was superb.
What an awesome experience! We had the macadamia crusted calamari to start. I don’t remember the name of my platter, but she had the cioppino. Both were outstanding. Our server Max was awesome, which made this memorable experience even better! Seriously, go here. You’ll see.
We split the lunch combo and added cocktail shrimp and garlic bread. Outstanding!!! Outside was a small, cozy area.
Max our server was excellent. For our appetizer we had the fish ceviche. It was a little too fishy for me. We had the salmon and the scallops for our entrees and it was cooked perfectly!! I definitely would come back.

Gaslamp fish House review
The wife and I decided to try the Gaslamp Fishouse Restaurant on Broadway. We started with lobster bisque and New England clam chowder soups which are very very good. I ordered whiskey sour from the bar and it was a nice size. Our waitress was polite enough to ask me my preference for my whiskey. Whiskey sour was smooth, not overly strong with the alcohol. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive. Our entree was the laplancha which consists of mussells, salmon, half lobster tail, rockfish, roasted tomatoes, garlic mashed potatoes and shrimp. We shared the entree. Everything was delicious. There was sauce on the salmon that made me wish I hadn't split the portion with the wife; I dipped everything in the garlic mashed potatoes. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. While a previous review commented on the bar being in the center of the establishment, I did not find it problematic. The piped in music was a pleasant "white noise" that did allow for you to carry on a normal conversation at your table. Our waitress Jenn was energetic and attentive. We turned down offer for desert since the meal was quite satisfying. We had a 6pm reservation but arrived early, which was good because they started getting busy and full shortly after we were served.

I’m not sure if I should start with the food, drinks, or service. The food is absolutely amazing even the perfected glazed and dressings that they make in-house will have you begging for more. Now to the drinks kudos to the bartenders and bar manager because I have never had a horrible drink. The red sangria has given me a new vision of what sangria should actually taste like. The stay classy San Diego is just that a classy San Diego twist on a old time classic. I’m a whiskey lover so they get extra points. Lastly the service OMG, hands down the best service I’ve had in San Diego or anywhere in a REALLY long time. Max is my absolute fave server and if anyone tells you different don’t believe them. He’s well acquainted with the menu and the dishes and will have you trying things your palette had been missing. I love how attentive he is to his guest no matter a party of 3 to a party of 50. Nothing changes and he makes sure you get exactly what you need. I am very picky when it comes to food and Max has made sure that all of my quirks were met with no problem. If you haven’t been here go and if you have go back. They even have food for the kids so no fret on a family affair if I could give more than 5 stars I would buy google tops you at 5. Thanks again for the amazing customer service by everyone there!!!!
Really enjoyed the happy hour. I was able to taste the brussels sprouts, and the calamari, and some oysters. I like that the brussels sprouts had raisins in it, and made it a little bit sweeter.
I was disappointed that they took the mussels off the happy hour menu.
Not sure what's going on with some of the poor reviews but I had a fantastic experience. Our server, Phoebe, was incredible and I would gladly go again just for her. The food was perfect and we had zero issues with any of it. We will definitely be visiting again next time we're in town.
