I bring to topic the illustrious “Tako Shoppe” in question that which goes by the name of Tako Factory, yehs it’s with uh “k”.
At the corner of El Cajon Blvd & 73rd Street you can barely miss the giant letters O.M.G. abbreviating for trendiness, Original Mexican Gourmet.
You might have remembered the past 5 or so years that which this corner has changed many a time, with failure after failure of taco shop, until just last year Tako Factory hit the scene, and my stomach.
My friend who owns the Chico Club just down the way told me to try it out, even after I had mentioned the dreadful past memories of the previous taco shops before it, so I took up his offer as he himself is a self made chef of sorts, and if he thinks it’s good, I take the test to find out.
Reasonably blaring with great music from the 1920’s to the 2000’s, and ’10’s, appealing to it’s diverse crowd of both old and young, Tako Factory already seems like an establishment I would actually like to sit down and enjoi my meal, or at least make the wait go as smooth as butter.
The staff are kind courteous, and serve your food to you even!
The menu is artsy, with vivid colors that pop with every line of chalk so carefully drawn. And the variety of meats is quite a charmer, from carne asada, chicken asada, adobada, varies kinds of fish, and shrimp, the Tako Factory leaves no individual with the thought of where else should I go but here, when they have such a selection to appease.
For my first meal I get what I always get, the carne asada fries, or I like to say carne fries
You see I’d like to think of myself as the carne fry connoisseur, as I have been searching for the ultimate carne fries with which, appeal to my wallet, stomach, and taste buds.
I have found usually you can find either an establishment will offer two of these combinations, and not all three.
Whereas the Tako Factory is under debate, it executes flawlessly in may I say it, each and every one of these 3 areas leaving me astounded, amazed, delighted, full, and always wanting more.
I am a picky eater, or rather I am someone who is not afraid to say so, I pay for food done in the way I like since I’m the customer, I’m supposed to be right, right? Well maybe perhaps that is a 60/40 street in terms of establishment, and cost.
So I test each taco shop for each area, and secretly their customer service as well. How far will they take what I say about my order to heart, and actually deliver.
So I order, carne fries, with everything on it, as well as well doning (ie. Crispy) the fries. Usually no one listens to the well done part, and I’m left with either two extremes, soft congealed fries, or hard as rock fries. As for salsa I get a bunch on the side to drown my yet to be inhaled meal in.
As it came as a surprise the Tako Factory does not offer a salsa bar like most taco shops, but for good reason. The salsa is made fresh, and I mean FRESH, as well as custom. This isn’t your ordinary red, and green.
It’s a thick tasty, creamy, spiced to perfection kind of sauce which is to die for, and yes it costs a little extra for a little extra. But at least I can have a couple for free.
Not to my knowledge I almost will not be needing them soon.
I get my fries, and to my astonishment, they are heavy, hot, and ready. I can barely wait, as I take it home.
I open the lid, and take notice of a white creamy sudstance that looks like sour creme but lighter, and all over the place. (good thing I like sauce, I see what I mean by almost not needing extra sauce) the entire creation is covered, smothered, and glazed with both cheese, and to my new knowledge a custom made sour creme with a hint of ranch in it for extra creaminess. I shower their custom sauce onto the fries and stir delving right in without a thought.
The first bite is a shocker, and almost tear jerkingly, I find something which stops me in my tracks.
They season their fries, yes no more boring plain fries, they freakin’ season their fries. Don’t stop their they to perfection as per to my instruction well doned them to a light golden brown, leaving a slight seasoned crunch with a savoring soft inside.
I was about to lose my mind, but needed to slow my roll to now fully appreciate what quickly became may I say the best carne fries I have ever eatin’ in all my years.
For the climax, I will let you in on a secret, I never have been partial to yelp, I might check it, but never write. I never even had a yelp before. This my friends is the reason I made a yelp, this is my first yelp rating, the Tako Factory took me out of my comfort zone, and placed my stomach on a throne of deliciousness.
I even went back the next day to compliment them I was so thoroughly impressed.
There even came a day (when I used to smoke cigarettes more often) I had a choice, spend my last 10 bucs or so on cigs, or on carne fries. And believe me it’s not an easy decision. Low, and behold I bought the Tako Factory’s carne fries instead.
THEY ARE THAT GOOD!
My prayers go out to the Tako Factory whom have found a new place in my heart, and stomach.
If I might ad go try ’em out and get the
carne fries, with everything on ’em, crispy, sloppy, and extra seasoned (also try their cajun seasoning, and a mix of adobada too)
With a few red/green custom salsas on the side, as well!
Or rather how 3nJo1 orders ’em `q:-I…
Have a nice day, and God bless you.
