I was very surprised with the food and service of this place.
The fish tacos (all kinds) and salads are great, but the stars of the place are the salsas, unreal.
Definitely a very good place for Mexican style fish tacos with other options.
Also, I want to highlight how amazing the service was. Attention to detail. Quick and helpful. Everything they can help with, they do. And super clean.
Highly recommended.
What a lovely manager has this location. I had ordered tacos online from this location but somehow my order had not gone through. So the store manager took a new order and prepared my food in the shortest time possible. This will be my go-to location for tacos from now on.
Way much better than Taco Shops out there.
I big time recommend it great food great service, great salsa bar.
Certainly one of the better chains in town. I kind of preferred the simpler menu they had in the past. Hands down, the best fish taco in San Diego. Fresh quality fish in a soft taco, the rest is Okay, but not what I go there for. The service is always friendly and fast and the restaurant clean. I really liked the big fish tank, not sure why they got rid of them, but I guess they are a maintenance nightmare.
I am here on taco Tuesday and people are all bent out if shape because of the wait. Do you know what day it is? 🌮
People are rude frankly. Meanwhile, the workers at this location are the kindest, most courteous hard workers at any location I've been to!
Have some human compassion, people! Good, fresh food takes a few minutes.
The food is consistent and good. Gone are the days feeding 2 adults for $20 (and that’s everywhere). We like their pinto beans over the black beans - would like more cheese on top (hint, hint).
We love this location. It's always clean, staff is friendly, and food is consistently delicious.
Not a Rubio's fan, but I came in for the 99¢ fish taco anniversary and they did a great job keeping the line moving and slinging food. It was organized (as could be) and they handled themselves well during the nonstop onslaught of customers.
Food good, restaurant clean, service friendly, but the wait for food was a little longer than I expected. It took about 15 minutes for a California rice bowl (at 12:30pm on a Tuesday), and other customers seemed to be experiencing about the same wait for their orders. It could be that the kitchen was slower than usual this day, but maybe something to consider if looking for a place to grab lunch when you're in a hurry.
I am writing this review to applaud DINESTI, the restaurant Manager of the Rubio's Coastal Grill on Mission Gorge [SD 92120]. She was working the Register this evening and this"review" is particularly addressed to commend DINESTI for her customer service skills, genuine and happy smile, as well as her significant attention to detail. Not only did DINESTI take the time to go through each of the options that come with our meals, but identified the differences in the three (3) varieties of shrimp tacos for us to choose. We selected the soft tortilla shells because we did not want them to be grilled with oil; and, we added black beans, rice, cabbage, avocado and mild salsa.
Before concluding the order, DINESTI then inquired if we wanted anything to drink and desert. She exhibited he type of heartfelt attentiveness you might expect at a fine diner, but it was so great to have this service at a local eatery. Take it from me, ask whether she is working before you go there to be able to not only enjoy their outstanding food, but to enjoy the care and appreciation that is exemplified by a truly superb Manager. It is obvious DINESTI truthfully LOVES her work in general , and everyone with whom she comes in contact in particular. Thank you DINESTI for making a huge difference for my wife and I.
Order ahead. I did a walk in order and they were busy! They now have LOTS of vegetarian options!! I had their "Street corn" bowl, delicious. I can hardly wait to try other options. I'm only giving 4 stars because I ordered the "chips and guacamole" side, and the "guacamole" was really just mashed avocado, not what I would call guacamole. But it was fresh. 😊
We go here for dinner nearly every Friday. Two fish tacos, chips and beans, and a beer for 8 bucks on Friday. Great deal and consistently good food. Nice staff too. And it's always clean, which isn't always true with places that have salsa bars.
Went here and ordered shrimp tacos and I accidentally ordered ones with bacon which I don’t eat. Went back in to order the ones I meant to order and the manager remade them for me without an extra charge.
I appreciate them taking care of me. Will definitely return
Always delicious, just over priced
