Tanuki - San Diego - Photo album

We've been here a couple times while visiting the Kensington neighborhood in SD. The server was polite and answered our questions even if she had to double check them. The menu is fun and offers lots of options. The drink menu is respectable too. The shishito peppers are my favorite thing here.
Went there with no reservation on what turned out to be a pretty busy night for them and loved it. We'll be going back there again and liked it more than going to Animae, where we'd gone for the same occasion a year earlier. The food was fantastic! It took a long time for anything to come out and o
Tried this place on a whim and the service and food was amazing. We ordered sake and the waitress allowed us to test the 2 we were deciding between before committing to a bottle. She recommended great apps and was super attentive. The sushi was great (got 6 rolls) and its amazing that miso or edamam
The food is fantastic and the service was even better. It was so good we went back the next day. For each roll you buy it comes with its own miso or edamame so it is a great value. As an avid sushi eater, this is a must. Plus there are tons of sake options and get to choose your own glass.
Good shishito grilled peppers, and salmon sashimi, fair prices, nice staff, love the sake flight options, liked the california roll with real crab, worth checking out if you are nearby looking for sushi
My first time here and my son wanted miso soup as he was not feeling well . I called and ordered two soups and everything was delicious! Got there and everything was clean and well maintained. Bathroom was good πŸ‘πŸ½! Parking was available!
Fantastic freshness and the sushi rice was perfect. The eel and the otoro sushis were +++
Came in for lunch today and tried the Ahi Poke bowl. Very delicious and reasonably priced! Their menu is hard to find online, so I included the lunch menu in this review.
Delicious seafood and excellent service. We ordered the chirashi bowl, salmon carpaccio, crispy rice, and Uni sashimi and everything was absolutely superb. There is an outdoor area which is dog friendly. The service was quick and the server was excellent. Great drink menu as well with many Japanese

My GF has been taking me on a "tour de sushi" through San Diego & I was immediately in love with this spot. restaurant was intimate but not in a dark moody way. the sushi was absolutely the freshest I've had at most San Diego spots (and I've been to dozens). Winners will be the fatty tuna & real cr
Always a hit! One of the best sushi spots in SD.
Tanuki is a hidden gem. It’s really hard to find high quality sushi in San Diego. We shared the Rainbow, Maguro Roll, and 5 pieces of Sashimi and it was incredible. The sashimi is melt in your mouth quality. This place is on track to receive a Michelin star. We went on a Monday night and it was sup
Service was excellent! Flavor combinations of sushi rolls and freshness could be better. Lighting was a little bright for dinner atmosphere. Good overall.
