Fun local restaurant/ bar that's walking distance from my place. I like the openness of this place; huge windows open up to let lots of air in. I came for the Hazy IPA and $5.00 Flat Top Burger. Add in Garlic Fries and Chili and it was an epic meal. Fun Grant Hill location.

Solid 4.5 rounding up because we had a good meal. I'd say the original Balboa Burger still wins over Sister Ray's The Standard burger. They are both delicious, don't get me wrong, I think that is a compliment to Sister Ray's because Balboa's sets the "purist burger" experience bar so high. We ordered the Standard Burger, which came with the same pillowy bollilo bun, served the same - stabbed with a giant knife, well-seared meat, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes and a light dressing of thousand island-style house sauce. My wife and I both preferred the Flat Top Burger. Melty, caramelized onions, cheese, co-mingling of meat juice, melting cheese and just the right amount of grease. We also ordered a small order of fried pickles. The pickles are thinly sliced rounds and battered in light airy breading with tons of little nooks and crunchy bits. It comes with a chipotle spiked aioli. They had perfect crunch and a refreshing vinegary and sweet bite, kind of cross between a dill and a bread and butter. We got a small order of the chili cheese fries, which is pretty large. Their chili is quite lean, not too salty and very meaty, like meatball chunks of meat.
