Best little hole in the wall of a restaurant. Everything on the menu looks amazing. We had a burger and fries, fish and chips, and stuffed French toast! The hot chocolate with whipped cream hit the spot! The staff was courteous and had great suggestions. We will be back for huge pancakes with all the breakfast fixings.
This is really a quintessential Castro experience - a bit pricier than your average diner, but it's SF so 🤷♂️. Service here is great and friendly. Great people watching out the window is a big plus, and it's's right behind a streetcar stop. Semi minus: it's pretty cramped, so I would definitely recommend going on a weekday to get a seat.
coming out and college days are WAY behind my very own existence. visiting OA after bar-hours then and returning to the very institution that it continues to be today is so worth relishing about. food was just as curative (fulfilling) then as it was today. 😉😉😉 yum pineapple burger? oh lala the montecristo? whoao! who am i kidding? to die for. my burger was a bit overcooked but nothing that affected the fabulous memory. the "gordito (server)" who took my order was more interested on grindr than he was on anything going on in the temple. no judging. hehe all in all, a happy return and a promise to be back again, soon. thank you OA! 😘😘😘
Popped in after getting off the streetcar. Well located to watch the cars stop. Ordered the chilli bowl and Hawaiian Wedding Cake. Chilli was excellent and the cake, I wanna get married in Hawaii. It was wonderful. Very friendly service and it was a busy busy place.
I think they should remove the screen protectors as they lower the tone of the place but I guess it makes people feel safe.
Great atmosphere! Service and staff were amazing! Best food with a variety to choose from. I have not been here in forever, but it hasnt changed much which is GREAT! Very quirky fun place you should visit while near the Castro. Much love from Sacramento!!
Had to pick up my pal Greaser Kiltergon at his flat there on 17th and take him to San Rafael to get his Clapper Autorooner out of impound before they outlaw them for good. But first, the Orphan Andy's Restaurant calls. They put out Capital A Amazing food! 5 stars all the way. ☆☆☆☆☆
This place is also a must-try, as a classic, late night American diner. It gives those vibes more than anything else, with its high-top red leather seats and classic malts. I got the Beyond Burger with Fries, and the chocolate malt.
In classic American fashion, the quantities were huge. I found everything pretty delicious so it was easier to finish. They cooked the fries really well too, everything was crispy.
It was my first time trying a malt, and so I didn't really know what to expect. I can say in hindsight that it was pretty delicious. Shoutout to the waiter for answering my dumb question about the difference between a malt and a milkshake. The malt was super sweet though, so beware if you're not into it. I wasn't able to finish it by myself.
Amazing place! Robert, our waiter, was entertaining and super friendly. I didn't catch the other worker's names, but they were great also.
I got a breakfast plate with banana and chocolate chip pancakes and was in heaven! I want to go back already to keep stuffing my face.
It was packed so we ate at the counter and chatted with the friendly staff and locals. I asked for a recommendation and I’m so glad I did because the Monte Carlo with French toast & maple syrup, packed with ham and cheese into a sweet & salty sandwich was TO DIE FOR.
Atmosphere was fun, service was a bit slow but I think most of us expect that in a diner-style place.
My teens had fun and enjoyed showing the staff some of the newest Snapchat filters.
The only negative—Hunts ketchup—lol. Yes, we’re Heinz snobs from WA state. It nearly ruined a plate of perfectly good fries.
Oh and one kid got grilled cheese and it was gone before I could take a photo. The other got the plate of fries. My taste is clearly more refined but if you’ve got picky kids—they’ll love this place too.
The best comfort breakfast I’ve had (so far) in SFO. It felt like home made food. Everything was SO tasty! The place reminded me of the tv show called “looking” aired a while ago.
